You guys are so lucky he did that because I wish I was born in the 80s but oh well I was born in the 90s So Unlucky for me. But lucky for you guys he did😎!
During Library Day (usual close to Halloween) in elementary school, our sadistic librarian would put this on for us. That screeching violin has never left my mind.
This played on the radio on Halloween morning, must've been 92 when this came out. It was one of those rare years when Halloween fell on a a weekend and my mom and I both listened to it on some radio station. I can remember which. Once the story was over, they played George Thorogood's Bad to the Bone.
My parents played this on the car ride to Townsend Tennessee for vacation when I was a kid. The power is out and my 2 toddlers now get to listen to it.
Did they play this at every elementary school? Also this story gave me sleeping problems as a kid because I lived relatively in a forested area. Listening to this still gives me goosebumps. Absolutely amazing story telling
Man, I guess every elementary schooler heard this story. We had "nap time" in kindergarten where we would roll out these blue segmented mats on the floor and lay down with the lights off. On Halloween day the teacher played this during nap time. I remember the part that disturbed me was when the narrator said that the creature got it's tail bone back, meaning, it ripped the guy's guys open.
This album, an Album my Dad picked up in the 80s is full of some of the best vivid spooky tales.. They've since re-released a lot of these stories in a more family friendly format.. But these rawer early versions are the ones I remember fondly.. And the sound of a record needle, added a kind of "tales by fireside" crackle. Fiddler on Rattlesnake Ridge, Ross and Anna, and Spearfinger and early Introduction to Jackie Torrence were the start of a lifelong passion for storytelling, jump tales, legends and folktales.
I remember this from elementary school, I've used to get scared of it before because I thought it was a "true" story. But the part where the taily bone let's out a yell like, "Æ@æHæÆÆH!!!" was kinda funny and it made some students snicker or chuckle. And now I still remember it but the scariest part when he says, "taily bone. Taily bone. Now I've got my taily bone." Meaning that it ripped the man's rib cage open and snatched it's tail out of his stomach.
I remember this back in elementary school it was a part of the media center and I loved how it gave me the creeps. Years later I let my adult friend listen to the story. She never heard it before. That night she was hearing strange noises coming from outside her window and she was imagining Taily Bone and was getting freaked out. Haha
I have thought about this story for YEARS. We used to listen to it in school back in like 1999 or 2000. I am so excited to click play! Thank you for the upload in advance.
