by the way the complaint you had with the crates is actually not what you think, as far as I can see there are different tiers of crates and depending on what tier it is the rewards change, the reason you thought it wasn't worth it to fill them was that you turned i nan empty tier 2 (?) crate and a filled tier 1, an empty tier 1 gives only 1 silver, and a filled tier 2 i think is 15 silvers, also the amout of rep you get is different, and the rep is with a new faction, supposedly there's a 10 slot bag you can buy at friendly and there's probably more at higher rep levels. that said they should definitely make it clear what tier the crate is, especially since you can only carry one.
I think the level 25 cap is the best new addition honestly. Makes for an interesting new meta for all of the professions and breaths new life into gear which are now "end game". I like the more manageable time requests from the game, as a community I imagine players of this game are older and have more responsibilities so I for one appreciate the reduced time crunch feeling of getting to max level.
I really like discovering runes naturally through questing and being in the questing areas. Like your being rewarded for doing open world things not just aoe grinding and dungeon boosting
its fun and nice in a classic setting, but seeing something like this on retail where i just want to be competitive it would not be fun, and im happy that the likelyhood of something like this never coming to retail is high since we know that classic+ is a thing now
I really hope they keep this wow going but blizzard tends to give fun first months then return to the usual bullsht... too many times but still hoping this is the time whe wont get shafted
Wild growth server was actually really smooth, there were a couple times I thought I would get d/c’d not too long after launch but after that it’s been smooth sailing
This experience tells me they should have announced Classic+ and not Cataclysm at Blizzcon. Cata is where retail was born. It’s a line they shouldn’t cross. Give us Classic+!
I think it would be cool to have it set up as am alternate time-line maybe the lich king won and we're the last of the living still fighting to survive
used to play on a private server that had a realm where something like that happened(think like 15 years ago or so). most of the zones where infested with scourge. major towns only had small safe zone,. the rest of the town was filled with undead. was pretty fun concept, but way too big of a concept for that small time team they had to pull off.
@@luvhair255 don't remember what the server was called. it was so long ago. but if i remember correctly they shut down that realm, because it took too much time and not many people were playing on it, and they would just focus on their blizzlike realm instead.
So about the crate thing. I have found that some crates give bigger rewards than others. A crate that needs some bandages will only give 6 silver but a crate that needs rough copper bombs, an item that is a bit more expensive and that requires higher profession skill will reward me with 15 silver. I can only assume this continues to scale as you get higher lvl crates.
Yup. Crates mostly give 1s and 100 rep if empty. When filled, it can give 6s up to, I think 60? considering what it ask of you to fill it. Meaning filling it with 20 plants, gives less money than filling it with 3 crafted items, wich also reward 300 rep or 600. Something like that.
Yeah, it's the rep you want. If you get friendly with that faction a vendor opens up with some greens etc. I imagine the items will improve as the phases progress and we get more rep. Maybe at exalted we get a mount or something
Honestly, it's really cool to see the devs experiment like this. I would be down for SoD to be a thing and have it go from xpac to xpac. Just give me melee hunters in wrath.
I agree about the crate silver value but I think it's more about the new Rep that's tied to it that will probably matter a lot for end game professions
The crates are really a rep grind with a new faction, and you get more rep with a filled crate, with high enough rep you can buy stuff you'll really want.
Talking about the supplies crates, for some reason i cant loot anymore until i turn them in, but i dont have any and it wont let me turn anything in, so i dont have any supplie crates anymore but also i cant loot any more.
honestly shocked that Blizz keep acting surprised that this is what we want. Hopefully with Uncle Phil behind the helm, no more activision boolespit to stop them from porting to gamepass/xbox with k+m support enabled.
The guild I'm in has, currently, 223 active members. The majority are between 13-19, but about 20% are level 20+, with 9 being 25 already. There's more level 25s in the guild than there are people under level 10. It's actually active, people doing dungeons together, mailing bags and patterns. Seeing dozens and dozens of people running around is really cool. It's wild to see it this active, though I know it won't last to this degree for too long.
Anyone who went to Blizzcon coulda told you that Blizzard was not ready for how many people were interested in SoD. They had waaaay too few computers there, the line was like 3 hours long.
Can't see anyone else replying about it so I guess I will be the guy explaining what the odd animals in Elwynn Forest were for. Its for the Mage rune Enlightenment. Some critters in Elwynn Forest have the "Wild Polymorph" debuff. This is why they look weird. Casting Polymorph on them returns them to their regular humanoid form and leaves a scroll on the ground. Interacting with the scroll gives you a scroll fragment in your inventory. When you have 6 fragments you can combine them into a scroll which teaches you the rune. (This can be found on wowhead btw)
I'm a very casual WoW player- a carebear you could say. I played the original classic and quit cold turkey, as soon as I got continuously Ganked in STV. All I was trying to do was quest. I get that it's a part of the game and I'm alright with that. But when I couldn't even just do quests- it was enough for my to cancel my sub, as it wasn't worth the frustration for me. Fast forward to today- I joined to play with coworkers/friends as a Holy Priest (a class I've never played) and I've been loving it thus far. I like to explore and just take in the game. I don't use add-on's or quest aids. I just want to experience the game, as the majority of it is still unknown to me. I don't want to min-max or read about how to max out my toon asap, as I don't want to ruin the "experience" of a new to me game. I'm only 21 at this point- and I'm worried about running into contested territory, but I'm hopeful that this time around- I can push past that previous block with my friends at my side. I hate Blizz for what they've become as a company, but I'm hopeful for the future of Classic and so long as they stay away from retail territory, I could see myself playing this game for years to come.
Honeymoon phase... this is like the part of dragonflight that you got excited about finding dragon glyphs. .now its boring and mapped out... give it a couple weeks...
Can someone concisely explain what makes Season of Discovery different than the normal game? From what I know it's got a low level cap that will slowly grow and is based in Classic era WoW but apparently there are new hidden things and easter eggs added ? Idk whether to play it if it's not actually that different
nah, the boxes give you 1 silver - or 6 silver if you fill them. that's a 5 silver difference. it's also different dpending on what you fill them with .
im pretty sure the crates value are all different based on the material you put in, my first one was worth 1s as it was, and 15s when i put in a few brown linen robes
i feel like alot of the new runes should have less impact on the character in percentage based changes, like with the shaman runes it changes alot with percentage, it would be easier to have it clunkier like classic usually is. so it doesnt become like retail
They must have quickly changed the supply crate system because at a full supply crate I was getting 15s each and I had to make 4 linen pants and other easy asks. Also apparently there are runes locked behind the rep for it. So not only does it encourage leveling professions for everyone, it makes it a gate to at least 1 rune for a couple classes I believe which I thought was smart.
I am really not overly hyped about the game.I am playing shaman, and thus far the 2 runes I have gotten are very basic, and it's rather annoying having to keep eyes peeled for where the next one might be. Maybe I've just gotten too old to be excited for running around a large fake world wasting all my time for nothing.
so regarding the supply crates, different crates have different values for waylaid and full shipments, low lvl crates have 1s waylaid and 6 s full whilst higher lvl crates have 5 s waylaid and 20 s full. but thats not it! If you notice every time you hand in a crate you get reputation with a new faction, wait until you see what happens when you get friendly! (you get more rep with full crates)
I'd like to see them add in the ability for anyone to get credit for hitting a mob and not just the first person or party to tap it. It'd go a long way to alleviate the issues with overcrowding and people spawn camping. Other than that I am absolutely loving SoD.
I dunno that feels a bit too retail to me, the way it is in classic encourages partying which obviously is the sort of thing classic is so loves for even though it can sometimes be a drag lol
I accidentally joined an AU server, but HOLY CROWDS. Like, just finding one mob was tough, and lots of peeps were grouping up in Tirisfal. But the fun thing is, yeah we got the Wayfair crates, but we also got Murloc Heads, and Gnoll Heads and were like “what do we do with this?” So that was neat
you know what, i took the biggest dump ever. two people died outside from the smell, a tree burned down and some country from antarctica declared war now for the toxins in my stomach, just saying brunhilda von siegesmund
when it comes to the supply crates ur missing another thing u get rep with a NEW faction. 100 with reg box 450 with a filled crate also iv gotten 15 silver on some boxes. i havnt discovered a rep vendor yet but makes u wonder who it is, where they are, and what they provide
I'm playing a gnome mage on the PVE (US) server Wild Growth. I like the collaboration with guildies and randos in sharing rune locations. I'm leveling as fire and having a blast. I did try paladin long enough to learn how good Crusader Strike feels.
For supply crate - the reward is not fixed. If you completed the 4 silver one it would've been 12 silver and the other one you've turned in was a lower quality I guess. Also you get reputaion with these new guys when you turn it in. You get more if you complete it obviously. I reached Friednly with them and I unlocked a vendor with some nice green gear and 10 slot bag(unique). Soo yeah the create system is pretty nice acually.
Thats odd the supply crate for wolf meat is 1s and 6s complete, in the case for 5s ones, its 30s (Still there are some than are way expensive to complete depending of the material for 25s).
as for the crates, I just dont like you can only have one. But the 6 silver ones are 1 silver when turn in without the goods. The 5 Silver ones get 15 Silver with the goods.
Different Waylaid Supplies are worth different amounts depending on what items it asks for. The basic ones, say Copper Bars are 1 silver hand in without adding bars, and 6 silver when adding bars. As for say a supply asking for Bronze Bars will be a base of 5 silver, and I believe (haven't seen it yet) about 20 silver when fulfilled. They are not worth the amount of money when fulfilled but this will be why you thought it was only a 1 silver increase, you were fulfilling a different tier of supply.
One of the things that gave me vanilla vibes was have to camp mobs. A ton of people in one area but no one wants to group up so you have to camp a mob and stay there till your done
Hey Nixxiom! Just wanted to comment on your crate delivery criticism. I’m not sure what we will use it for, but I think the primary reward for delivering the crates is actually getting reputation with a new faction. Like I said I’m not sure how that rep will help us but I think that’s the real reward for turning these crates in. Also some of the ones I turned in rewarded more silver than that. I can confirm I’ve gotten one that was 20 silver reward.
The crates vary quite a bit in terms of value, so far it seems most of them reward you with 6 silver when filled (and only 1 if you dont fill them). The exception being the one that requires 4 Brown Linen Robes, that one gave me 15 silver when filled. The crates aside, really liking SoD and I hope they keep going and push even further
This was the best week of WoW I've had since Classic came out and I played with my wife and 2 other family members. Really having a blast and just got to 20 and pvp areas and man its like the old times. Stonetalon is a bloodbath.
i hope they add more endgame content. I dont wanna get tired of the pvp and raids and sit in orgrimmar or stormwinf all day. I would like more bgs or pvp modes or new raids or maybe quests? would be epic. World bosses too:)
It’s pretty unplayable which sucks bc what little I have played has been VERY fun. I was able to get a priest to level 10, and that was pretty painful since I could hardly do any quests. Then I decided to try a warlock, yesterday, and even over 24hrs later I still haven’t been able to get my 10 gold dust or candles. There’s too many people playing, and not enough layers. It’s not enjoyable to have to farm the 1 green lvl 4 boar left alive between goldshire and the kobold mine. What little I’ve been able to play seems really awesome but I’d like the opportunity to actually play the game. It would be really awesome if everyone that’s going to quit in 2 weeks would just quit now and save the rest of us the hassle.
it's an element of the old days, before guides and over analyzed gameplay, ppl had to figure stuff out and socialize hoping to put together other players clues to complete objectives
Couldn't agree more with your point on the supply boxes -- it would really help the in-game economy if they at least doubled the reward amount when you fulfill the box contents !
Man , i love how some of the things you fine for runes want you to then do or kill things with certain abilities related to that class. It honestly was more then what i first expected for earning runes. Makes me excited for how else they will hide or unlock runes through out the next level brackets. I hope the blizz team Really goes hame and have you traveling across the world and doing some very cool clast fantasy based tasked or adventures
I kept seeing these "Strange Melon", just keep killing them thinking WTF are they. When I actually looked at the tool tip is said "has been transformed" or something similar, so I decide to polymorph it. The melon turned into a human, who then disappeared leaving an item - if I collect 5 of these, It will then turn into a mage engrave. I'm having so much fun.
have they changed things like crowd pummeler farming? I assume gnomer will be another 10 man raid, so either crowd pummeler is now farmed in a raid, druid is good without it now, or druid still needs it and is just SOL
Crates are based on whats in it. Raw stuff cheapest, cheap craft like bandages a little more, big stuff like a few crafted gear the most. Also i only got 1 s for empty turn ins.
I totally agree that it does have some of that same excitement of when I first started playing wow! Loving SoD so far...even though I'm only level 12 currently lol
It's like an entirely new game to me. I have played a horde toon since 2005 and decided to play alliance and I've never done any of the quests so it gives me the feel of playing it for the first time
My SODomy experience: Daytime - no spawns, endless queues for every quest mob, hunter effin sucks before they get pet (classic = not even autoshot on right click) Nighttime - no people so you're afraid of going to areas with red mobs cause you're friggin weak), still no spawns (the entire area around Echo Isles and the troll village spawns like 1 Makrura every 20 minutes) Both - still vanilla quest item drop rates, which means endless killing of the same mob with the same 1 attack cause you don't friggin have anything else and you haven't seen a single green drop in days Yeah no, I'd rather level my 17th hunter on retail. Also, Project Ascension did this years ago and by now it's magnitudes better.
This might've been changed without you knowing but when I turned in the crates last night(technically morning) I had the option to fill my crate for it to be 15s or give the crate as-is for only 1 silver. Maybe this is just Teldrassil though cuz I'm a NE male gigachad druid
Supply crates shouldn't only be unique in respect to having the same one. It's annoying getting a decent one and having to delete when you get a better one.
I have fun but questing got me frustation sometimes. Some Gnoll and Defias spots in Westfall have horrible respawn times - and you're not the only one waiting for them to reappear.
After playing and dying in hardcore tons of times, it’s literally painful to have to level again, but the prospect of new skills and what not make it fresh and exciting.
Maybe gunther arcanus will have a major role in undead lore this time... I mean they say that gunther is the only undead that break free from the control of lich king when hes still in full power and elevated himself to be a lich.
25 cap is by far the best thing they added it feels amazing to not feel rushed and be able to level without my buddies knowing im not getting too far ahead
From what I've heard, the Supply Crates may change value (money) based on your Character Level, and which resources are required. I'm disappointed that it doesn't allow you to partial load a resource, I got 60 peace bloom before I got 20 Silver Leaf for my crate. I only have 1 extra bag :')))))
Ive never played classic. Dabbled in tbc but first got a max character in lich king. Ive been on and off for years but ive been having a really good time in sod.
The supply crates rewards are different based on what the crate is requesting. Also, i think the main draw to fullfilling the crates is more beneficial for the rep they give, a incomplete crate gives 100 rep where a full crate can be almost 500 rep
SoD has the potential to turn into an Oldschool Runescape kind of thing, where theres constantly new content updates and gets wildly popular. People liked how simple OSRS is, people like how simple Classic WoW is, why not just have more of that same game feel and simplicity?
Back in a good, old, calm 2019, on the start of WoW Classic, Russian region had only one main PvP server (later opened a few more, but nobody really cared), so the queues on it was near 36000, with approximate time of waiting like 9 hours. Kinda story I'll tell my kids someday))
i really wished they went the Turtle WoW route over the Ascension WoW one. Finding the runes is going to get old as soon as theyre all discovered, and i dont beleive remaking a few bosses to turn them into raid bosses is going to be enough to keep player interest high. Should have added new zones that have been speculated about years ago, brand new raids, and just a bit of class balance that classic so desperately needed.

I dunno that feels a bit too retail to me, the way it is in classic encourages partying which obviously is the sort of thing classic is so loves for even though it can sometimes be a drag lol
Ya this is a giant nope for me.
Would just lead to experience exploitation
Makes sense to me. Everyone saying no obviously did not see the drama posts about sod saying it's too much like retail as everyone can tank now lol.
@@JS310 It already feels way too retail as is with all these runes
I been enjoying SOD, discovering new runes to play with while questing and running dungeons. I have a lvl 20 mage on lava lash.
@@vaelisiousantorus I’m sorry, but are you being passive aggressive with me? I only ask because I’m on the spectrum and can’t read social cues.
@@YukaiRyujin Honestly, it seems that way, but it's done so strangely that I think they might also be on the spectrum?
when it comes to the supply crates ur missing another thing u get rep with a NEW faction. 100 with reg box 450 with a filled crate also iv gotten 15 silver on some boxes. i havnt discovered a rep vendor yet but makes u wonder who it is, where they are, and what they provide
I tried the same supply box. The reward differs in general, but this one is 1 silver empty and 6 silver full
I got 15 silver from the full supply crate
Is there a eu version of all the servers? Why did you go eu instead of na crusader strike
The lvl 25 cap. The Classic Experience divided in 3 brackets. That is the key to keep it engaging
This is SO good.
I was always a Classic + nay sayer just for the pure fact that Old Blizz would never do anything like this will.
New Blizz will tho.
I started a warrior and god it’s awful. When does the class pick up? I am lvl 10 currently
Imagine letting the grind dull your blade instead of sharpening it.
The Gazelles and other random mobs are for a mage rune, where you dispell the polymorphed mobs and after you dispell six of them u get a rune
When were they give silver for a supply crate? It's only 1 silver when i turn it in!
Just now hearing about all this and such a great introduction. Thanks my guy!
How do I play this? I I have to buy this? I have a blizzard classic classic character bursae no season of discovery servers
i hope they add more endgame content. I dont wanna get tired of the pvp and raids and sit in orgrimmar or stormwinf all day. I would like more bgs or pvp modes or new raids or maybe quests? would be epic. World bosses too:)
The true reward for the crates is that once you get to honoured with their rep some classes have a rune that you can get from the faction vender.
I turned a crate in that needed 10 rough copper bombs and got 16s for it. I think the money rewards are scaled with what is missing in the crate
it's an element of the old days, before guides and over analyzed gameplay, ppl had to figure stuff out and socialize hoping to put together other players clues to complete objectives
But there is nothing to put together or gather clues for lol its just a couple side quests that give you a couple new spells. Fuckin riveting
Questie already includes the runes and im glad
I have played a horde toon since 2005 and decided to play alliance and I've never done any of the quests so it gives me the feel of playing it for the first time
My SODomy experience:
Daytime - no spawns, endless queues for every quest mob, hunter effin sucks before they get pet (classic = not even autoshot on right click)
Nighttime - no people so you're afraid of going to areas with red mobs cause you're friggin weak), still no spawns (the entire area around Echo Isles and the troll village spawns like 1 Makrura every 20 minutes)
Both - still vanilla quest item drop rates, which means endless killing of the same mob with the same 1 attack cause you don't friggin have anything else and you haven't seen a single green drop in days
Yeah no, I'd rather level my 17th hunter on retail. Also, Project Ascension did this years ago and by now it's magnitudes better.
Wait are there eu realms with the same names?
For supply crates I got 6 silver when it was mats Like light leather and 15 silver when it was a crafted item
I am getting 15s per completed crate. Not sure how you only got 6s..
Ive been on and off for years but ive been having a really good time in sod.
never played wow because of hardcore i been getting into wow and sod seems so fun so far
The supply crates rewards are different based on what the crate is requesting. Also, i think the main draw to fullfilling the crates is more beneficial for the rep they give, a incomplete crate gives 100 rep where a full crate can be almost 500 rep
i think the crates will eventually have higher rarity the higher lvl we get, epic crates at 60 etc
As someone who couldn't play day 1 due to queues it's kinda disappointing that the whole "discovery" phase is already over
Wow hasn’t felt this good in a long time. SOD shows why the game didn’t need group finder for so many years.
