    You are so cute!! I just got accepted to be a medical scribe in a hospital with no experience and I needed to do research to see what I was expecting your video was the most informative and helpful so far. I felt relatable when you said about not knowing much medical terminology even though I took a class for it LOL. Are you happy with your job regardless of the long hours? Have you ever had a bad day while on the job?

    • @brialeixx
      @brialeixx  ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Ahh I congrats on getting accepted and I hope it goes well for you. I like the job because it gives me a lot of exposure. The only time I would have a bad day is when we get critical patients. It makes me feel sad but it’s a part of healthcare that we can’t avoid.

      Thank you ☺️ Honestly, the first day of training will be mostly a day of observation. Here are some tips:
      1) Bring a small notebook and pens.
      2) Learn some medical abbreviations BEFORE your shift.
      3) Set your phone and watch time to military time now so you’ll get used to it before you start working.
      4) Watch HPI scribing practice videos on TH-cam to practice listening (this helps a lot)
      Let me know if you have any specific questions!! Good luck!

    I think statute of limitations for malpractice will no longer be a thing. There’s too much merit in showing up with insurance & having reports written with signatures. Most merit being showing up with 3rd party insurance.
    SOL exists because eyewitness accounts deteriorates. With medical scribes I just think the SOL for med mal will no longer be a thing.

    I recently started applying to places. I'm really worried about the knowing medical terminology part. I haven't taken a human anatomy class yet so I'm freaking out. How essential is it to be in touch with medical terminology? And if I don't have experience with it, how would you suggest that I learn? Would we be trained to know medical terms or is it expected of us to just know it?

    • @brialeixx
      @brialeixx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      I started off with knowing very very little medical terminology. I recommend using Anki to learn medical abbreviations. But it’s been a learning process. When I hear something new, I look it up on Google and that’s how I learn. I’ve honestly learned so much and had started knowing almost nothing :)

    • @mayaringer5711
      @mayaringer5711 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Same! I just got offered a medical scribe position today. Luckily, they gave us a pdf of the basic medical terms we need to know before the interview so I just reviewed those and hoped for the best when they quizzed us. I was kind of surprised I got hired since I have zero experience in the medical field. I came from an assistant accountant job at a tech company. I'm just worried about writing things down quickly and accurately. Last thing I want is for a patient to die because of me lol.

    Oh Hi! I would like ask you something I am confused about one thing. What is the right procedure in case that follows. If patient suffers from cardiac arrest due to internal bleeding couses by stab wound into heart should we perform CPR in this case or abandon resustitation Instead intubate, give 50% glucose solution and drive to the nearest hospital on signal?? 😓😓

    • @brialeixx
      @brialeixx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would first like to say that I am not a doctor so I do not know what the best course of action would be. However, EMS will perform CPR and/or inject patients the substances they need prior to getting to the hospital. Also, based on what I have seen, sometimes they will perform CPR, stop, and intubate, then keep going.

      I was fortunate enough to not have to interview for this position, but I have a couple little things that helped me when I was applying to another healthcare position.
      1) Be prepared: I looked up interview questions that are related to the specific job i was applying for!!
      2) And relax, the people interviewing are humans, too. They understand if you have trouble understanding a question or have trouble answering it. Try to feel as though you're having a conversation with the interviewer instead of them simply interrogating you , but make sure to keep it formal.
      You got this!! Good luck ❤

    Do you have to have medical experience or wanna be in the medical field to be a scribe? Do you have to know how to type fast. And also know medical terminology. It seems easy but I don't know. I would do a job like this even tho I'm not interested in the medical field I just need a job which has taken me forever to find. It's been a whole year already

    • @brialeixx
      @brialeixx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You definitely do not need to type fast or know medical terminology to become a scribe. You just learn as you go. And, if I am being honest, scribing is really only worth it if you need clinical hours rather than a form of income. Some scribes do get tipped by doctors and do it for a living but those are exceptional cases. I am going to make a video soon talking about how much I get paid and what the work is like, so stay tuned haha :)

      Ahh that’s understanding!! But most of the time you are not dealing directly with nurses. And the doctor may seem intimidating sometimes but the ones who have scribes are ones who requested them. They understand that we have a learning curve and they will try to help you. Because if you do well, it makes their job easier. I was nervous at first too but it just takes time!!
