Not a perfect storm, just from driving the car with the air system set too low. The shock bottoming out was most likely, what caused the failure.

The force of slaying the tires could have worn the other side as well. I would check both rear suspension parts, and keep in mind that the railroad track was not only a blessing in disguise, but the actual end-point for the abuse cause by swinging the weight of the car with burn-outs. Image if your were doing 100+ and that happened. Glad you guys are ok, but have your homie check the other side too.

I say, even though the air bags are bad ass, go to a better aftermarket suspension that replaces the stock other than air bags because of how hard you are on things, the end of the shock absorber shaft is just going to break again if you hit another bump like that and since it is horrible California roads, chances are high. Problem with the design of that shaft is it has a hole through the center of it making it weak. It was designed for show not function on a Lamborghini doing 150+ over bumps. I would be paranoid going fast again in that car over California roads.

I got bags on my caprice, the front bags went out and the car was sitting on the tires. Had to put the factory's back on and limp it to the garage at 15 mph. Bags are fun!!!!!

If air doesnt travel through the top shaft that make put on a cable around your neck, I do not see the point in it being hollow. With that being said, the RR tracks bottomed out the suspension and it snapped. It's either not the best made shock setup or just hard driving on crappy roads.
Not sure how you managed that one, Damon. I guess the replacement part just needs to be made out of titanium. On all four corners :D
Aftermarket stuff never holds up like OEM it seems... especially on performance cars where they put thousands of hours and tons of cash behind the science/performance of it all. I would put the stock equipment back but i know its already been fixed. broke a regular shock like this once when I jumped my K5 Blazer out in the desert. It was a fun drive back home riding on springs only haha
For the way you drive that beast it should be sitting on a nice set of coils not bags

I love the air suspension on ur whip but I’ve had air ride suspension before and a headache at times, my honest opinion is keep the air ride suspension on the front to keep from messing up the carbon and lowered suspension on the rear so u car still slay those tires.
