    Have you listened to any of Ralph Kirkpatrick's recordings on archiv? He played on an instrument similar to this one. Bravo!

    Nice Neupert harpsichord. Neupert makes good harpsichord and Spinette.

    The tone is very much like my Telemann; a small practice instrument for those without a lot of space.

      I agree. My Telemann sounds worse than this one does lol

    Are there pedals in the hapsichord?

    • @HeavyHarpsichord
      @HeavyHarpsichord  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely! They control the 4 registers, similar to a Pleyel harpsichord.

    • @Christian-uv6gs
      @Christian-uv6gs 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, sorry I am just ignorant. But all have pedals? And eventually which registers?

    • @HeavyHarpsichord
      @HeavyHarpsichord  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Christian-uv6gs no worries! None of the historical harpsichords have pedals (there are few examples of very late period instruments that have at least one pedal to control a few different functions, but the registers are still controlled by hand stops), but most of the revival ones do. I have 3 instruments at home, all revival harpsichords, two with pedals and one with hand stops. The instrument in this video has a 4ft stop, 2 8ft stops and a 16ft stop. Good questions! I’m always happy to get questions on these instruments!

      @Christian-uv6gs 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HeavyHarpsichord thank you so much! So interesting! Sorry to bother you again, but what are 4ft, 8ft and 16ft stops? And what are registers? I know registers in organ, are they something similar?

    • @HeavyHarpsichord
      @HeavyHarpsichord  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Christian-uv6gs you’re exactly right to think about it as how it is on an organ. Registers and stops mean the same thing when it comes to the harpsichord. Technically the register is the part of the harpsichord that holds the jacks in place, but we can refer to it as either a stop or register. 8ft means the notes sounds normal, so middle c would sound like how middle c sounds normally. 4ft means that the same notes sound an octave higher, and 16ft means they sound an octave lower. I have a video that goes into this a bit and a tour around the instrument if you’d be interested in checking it out! th-cam.com/video/WyC28mFy06g/w-d-xo.html
