Super video. We don’t get 🎉he cod down south in jersey. (Maybe the odd one a season) 😊 loves the content and flow of the video ❤. Subbed from me will be here more
So far it doesn’t look like we do either, I think I’m on about attempt number 5 of episode 2 but not managing to find them 😂 hopefully we get some decent weather for it soon. Thanks for the kind words though, glad you like the video 👍🏼 have subbed back and will check out your channel. Cheers Ben.
Great stuff. One thing I tell people is that NONE of my biggest cod were caught on big baits. Six or eight lugworm creates a long thin bait but sizeable! Eight slipper limpets the same.. My biggest cod (27lb) was on two 1/0 Aberdeens it took both hooks - one had already bent out -the other was on the way but I still landed it. 1982! Such a vivid memory. I also rarely use Pennal rigs. One SHARP hook standing weĺl out from her bait is fine. What was caught in the comp?
27lbs….wow the dream! Sounds like you did very well to land that on almost bent out hooks 👍🏼 It’s all about the smell isn’t it, get enough scent out there and the fish will find it. There wasn’t a huge amount of fish caught in the comp really, the winning fish was 6lbs I believe. Thanks for watching the video though, hope you enjoyed it. Cheers Ben.
It’s was a bit of a cold one that’s for sure! Hopefully next session can get a fish or two! Just need to wait for a bit of decent weather to come in! Glad you like the video still though; thanks for watching 🎣
St serfs £1250 cod competition,, your very hard pushed to beat the local guys from the area some really really good anglers almost geologists some of them the knowledge of what there fishing in to and why ,, believe it was a 6.8 lb fish that won it ,, cheers 👍
@@bertbasset8961 indeed, there are some really experienced anglers. I’m local but certainly won’t claim to have the knowledge of some! I think only 20 people out of 138 entries weighed in….it was a poor turn out of fish, but you are right on the winning fish 👍🏼 tight lines.
If this was the St Serf's open at Anstruther this year i think you need to check the boundaries next time. They changed for this year and the southern boundary was St Monans pier.
You are indeed correct, I could have sworn I saw the poster stating it was still Elie. Good job I blanked then 😂 Mind you there was plenty of angles South of us so 🤷♂️
@@CoastlineFishing The only reason i knew is one of the organisers mentioned it on the phone the previous week and i told them they would need to make a proper effort to inform people. Luckily i did know given i had the heaviest fish :) Was that Deek from Kirkcaldy/Wemyss you were fishing with ? I would probably have been down that end myself had it been in bounds given the forecast. I never bother going to marks early, most are still covered by water a couple of hours before the start, the first time i won the heaviest bag i didn't start until 1 pm as it was raining heavily so just waited on it stopping.
@@robertgallacher7214 yeah, I was sure I checked a few weeks before when we were discussing marks and thought it still said elie. You are right though a little mention at sign on could have been helpful for everyone. I’ll be sure to check more next year though!! Well done though, nice fish you had there for the winner, right before the end wasn’t it? And yep that was Derek 👍🏼 Very true about the marks, I enjoy making a day of it though…..as long as the weather isn’t awful!
@@CoastlineFishing yep, a last cast special. Only got on the mark for 3 casts at the end as a mate that was on it all day had to go home with a migraine. I've had the second heaviest fish twice including last year and third once so it was nice to finally get it even though it wasn't a big one.
It is hard going that’s for sure. When the weather conditions are perfect you can sometimes get lucky with a few fish but certainly not what it was compared to years back.
@@CoastlineFishing yes I remember 10 years ago cod were abundant all along the East coast of Scotland I have fished many many times in Spots that were great places for cod and have done all nighters and double tides and never even gotten a bite at times So sad that the East coast shore fishing is so bad nowadays.
@@kenwatson4890 I wish I could have fished those times ha, I’m searching in hope for a double but feel that’s like winning the lottery now days. Most fish are just a couple of pounds with an odd fluke at 4/5lbs. Hopefully some Jan/feb storms give it a good churn and bring some fish in.
Looked awesome, wish i was there!
It’s always nice to be out on the shore, especially battling the elements 👍🏼

Looked hard going but enjoyed the vid mate 👍👍

Wow god work! That’s brilliant that you have had so much luck there. I have only fished it twice and blanked both times 😂
What length rod is it?
Hi. This is one is 13ft sonic sks black. But I have since moved onto an AnyfishAnywhere 6nBait which is 14ft, cracking rod!!
Hardly any cod or fish to be caught in Scotland anymore from the shore

It’s a sad time for shore fishing
