This is the best online show I've been a part of...and truly the best curation I've seen. Loved the audio which enabled each artist to attest to their work! So meaningful and tender to hear the beautiful "chorus" of the artists. THANK YOU Holly Gordon and The Islip Museum for this extraordinary show.

The entire Islip Arts Council Advisory Board Chris O'Malley, LuAnn Palazzo and Belinda Rubino were and continue to be major proponents in this exhibition and moving IAC forward in these perilous times. This is a top notch phenomenally good virtual exhibition. The highest quality of curating of artwork end of the use of music and narration in this exhibition makes me exceedingly proud and grateful and humbled to be included. Thank you Holly Gordon and thank you to Lynda Moran Thank you to the brilliant videographer. I never expected such an extraordinary exhibition under the duress of the COVID-19 dark cloud. Perhaps then there is a glimmer of new beginnings with this exhibition.

Comprised of 100 New York State artists, aged 50-94, each has found reason to create in response to these ills. Brought together through Islip Arts Council and AARP-sponsored Art at 50+ virtual exhibition entitled New Beginnings, this poignant and uplifting video is a unique work of art unto itself that captures this moment in time. Curator Holly Gordon selected works and statements from nearly 600 artists to weave into a cohesive exhibition and Waldo Cabrera videographer set these works to music that turns this virtual exhibit into something extraordinary. 2020 has connected us all with multiple crises that have stunned the world…and this video, a product if these times, resonates with hope and inspiration that will astound you and you will want to see this video again and again.

It was AARP Long Island representative Bernard Macias, who also must be thanked as it was he who extended the invitation to do this....so the congratulations are far more expansive than just me. I love you work and picture it vividly in my mind too. Each of you is an important part of this production. Keep creating!!!!
I feel your disappointment and would have loved to select one work from every one of the nearly 600 artists who submitted to New Beginnings...but the limit was 100. Everyone of you is to be congratulated for embracing the challenges of this time with your creativity and sharing your inspiration behind these creations. This video is a potent testament to this moment in time and symbolizes resilience and positivity. Keep creating!
