Taking out 1 ton, reducing the crew, lighter air capability vs strong wind shift capability, some major changes. Shows how much change happens in one month to protocol release.
This Britannia/Merc partnership should be interesting. Merc are saying openly that the last generation Britannia already had some major design issues by the time they got involved, and it was to late to make the changes that would have enabled a more successful campaign. This time they are in from the ground up. Can they match the genius NZ designers? It will be fun finding out.
Great coverage Matt, full of interest as usual. With the NZ economy recovering hopefully they can find the money for the Cup to be held in Auckland. Did you sell the BMW you might need it again? ! :)
The sponsors behind sailing, and most high end sports now, make it really hard to get behind teams. Team ineos facing off against team emirates is a real difficult one to come to terms with ethically, and I ditched F1 last year after the deal with Saudi Arabia. I want to be a fan, but every time I see those logos, it takes me out of the action and makes me if I question if I should be watching… Great coverage as ever mind, and thanks
The commentary on this channel and your access to the major players in the sport are second to none, looking forward to the next one
Get my coverage of whats going down in the world of water from here , great show , NZ
Thanks for (finally) being open about the paid content.
Such a great/informative channel. Thanks, Matthew.
Cheers!
Another great update.. thanks Matt

New Zealand should have it in New Zealand.
Maybe have it in Wellington this time around?
Fabulous
The only decision left is: Which Kiwi sailor do you get to helm your challenge, Mercedes?
Please share on other platformss!!

Strong agree
Ouch. Team New Zealand, the Brits really really want that thing back!
More than 100 millions for only the third place
I heard Toto... and thought I was still on F1...
Always team Toto, even as a Mclaren, Redbull fan
The Merc is too good... haha.
So how many of these collaborations between big tech/engineering companies and AC teams have come to nothing.....😁
You need a kiwi and an aussie to defeat the worlds best😏
Cup News?!?!?!!?! Woooooooooo. GBR better hope that Mercedes rubs off. That boat was a dog and they started like Stevie Wonder.
My comments are being censcored here!
Hopefully AC get npt the same boring shit like F1
Commentariat
Combining these sports has to be the stupidest idea I've ever heard
Keep the car guys out of sailing!!
This Covid BS has to end
