"Lucy Does a TV Commercial" is still perhaps the most famous episode in the history of sitcoms and definitely the most hilarious. Lucille Ball was a comedy genius.
Yes, the Golden Girls' funeral episode takes the cake. Not only is it hilarious, but it taught me that you should NEVER cross Rose, which Ms. Claxton learned the hard way!
The alterative timelines episode of Community will forever be iconic. I showed this episode to friends who'd never seen the show before, and they were instantly hooked.
Lucy Does A Commercial….man….I will never forget the first time I saw that episode. I laughed till I couldn’t breathe! I had tears in my eyes and I was in so much pain but it was all so worth it!! It is such an iconic and hilarious scene even after almost 70 years!
The "Chuckles Bites the Dust" episode from The Mary Tyler Moore Show, not on there! Are you kidding me, that is among the funniest episodes of just about any sitcom among them!
That's just what I was thinking! That one definitely should have been on this list. I would have included the episode of "All In The Family" which was a flashback to when Mike and Gloria were married. The ceremony takes place in the Bunkers' living, with everyone waiting for the bride to be escorted down the stairs by her father, Archie, whose wife, Edith, is playing "Here Comes The Bride" on the piano (occasionally hitting the sour notes). When Gloria and Archie don't come down right away, Edith calls out to them to hurry up. "Just a minute, ma," Gloria says, "I'm waiting for daddy!" A few seconds later, we hear the sound of Archie flushing the toilet bowl. An odd look comes over the face of Mike, the bridegroom, as if he's thinking to himself, "Gosh, is this what I have to put up with while I'm living here?" Then there was the episode of "Frasier" in which the title character's father, Martin Crane, a former police detective, is obsessed with trying to solve an old cold case, the murder of a prostitute, that has baffled him for years (he had promised the victim's mother that he would find the killers). Frasier and his brother, Niles, figure that if they put their supposedly superior minds together, they themselves could solve the mystery. After examining the clues, Frasier comes up with a most bizarre deduction, that the murderer was a circus monkey, who had trained by its owner to kill (Frasier even suggests that the trainer is "paying homage to the Edgar Allan Poe story, "Murders In The Rue Morgue," in which a madman trains an ape to slit the throats of its victims). But, instead of telling their father about their theory, the Crane brothers simply leave the evidence lying around their apartment in such a way so that Martin will come to the same conclusion. However, it doesn't turn out how they planned, because Martin interprets the clues in a different way and comes up with an alternative solution to the case -- which turns out to be THE CORRECT ONE! (The girl was actually killed by another detective, who had a secret crush on her, but she had rejected him.) As might be expected, Frasier realizes that he had made a fool out of himself, especially when his dad and his old friends on the police force ridicule his "monkey murderer" theory. As if this weren't embarrassing enough, Martin arranges a scene that makes it look like Daphne, the housemaid, had been shot to death by his pet dog, Eddie. (This part is shown while the closing credits roll and the brief concluding theme song is heard.)
Everybody Loves Raymond does have some hilarious episodes. The tofu turkey, lucky suit, the toaster, the model, Marie’s sculpture and so much more!!! The show should be on here!
For me, it’s the episode where Robert’s date eats a fly. Rays’s reaction and explanation of what she did in front of him is something I’ll never get tired of watching
I’m watching The Office for the first time with my mom right now. She’s seen it multiple times but I never have. There are so many hilarious episodes in that show. The Fire Drill one made me laugh more than any other episode but the Dinner Party episode was so incredibly awkward and hilarious in all the right ways! Oh my gosh! It’s so funny and cringy and over the top! 😂😂😂 It’s so good!
There’s “Chuckles Bites The Dust- The Mary Tyler Moore Show”, “It May Look Like A Walnut- The Dick Van Dyke Show”, “The Eating Contest- The Phil Silvers Show (Sergeant Bilko)”, “Hash- Barney Miller”, “Over The River And Through The Woods (The Infamous Thanksgiving Episode)- The Bob Newhart Show”, “The General Flipped At Dawn- M*A*S*H”.
Watching the Parks and Rec characters get drunk and seeing how they act while drunk is HILARIOUS!!! They all have such different reactions and it makes me laugh so much!
No "Chuckles Bites the Dust"? No "Over the River and Through the Woods"? At least "Turkeys Away" got an HM...but what have you got against the magnificent MTM Productions?
Lucy's face when she first tasted is the one for me🤣🤣🤣. And the playdate at Carolyn Applebee's apartment.."I would like my baby now where do keep your child's cage?" 😂😂😂.
Usually when there's a funniest sitcom episode list, "Chuckles Bites the Dust" from The Mary Tyler Moore Show makes the list--and for good reason. Figured that (or something from The Dick Van Dyke Show) would at least have an honorable mention
Agreed, it was a show ahead of its time. I love that even though it was set in the 80's, it didn't really draw attention to that fact, and was more about the characters than the setting.
Great shows but personally I have some different episodes Frazier - Niles & Frazier Restaurant Big Bang - The parking space Lucy - The assembly line or the crushing of the grapes WKRP - Turkey would be in my top 10 Taxi - anything with Jim Carol Burnett - Gone with the Wind parody (ok it's a variety show skit😊
The "Matchmaker" episode of Frasier is hysterical. Frasier's new boss is gay, unbeknownst to Frasier. Frasier invites him to dinner to set him up with Daphne. But Frasier's boss assumes Frasier is gay. Love it!
I may not always agree with your top picks, but you definitely called it this time. That is the funniest episode of a TV series I've ever seen, and it never gets old
So glad you included the IT Crowd. That episode actually makes me laugh out loud. So many great scenes - it was the defining moment that turned a good sitcom into a great one.
When I started this video I thought, "They better choose The Fire Drill from the office, because I was laughing so hard I was crying for the first 10 minutes of that episode." You almost chose it. The Office is always funny, but I never laughed so hard. The one you chose is funny but I wasn't laughing out loud during it. Also on Frasier when Niles is getting ready for a date and starts a fire while ironing. That one had me in tears too.
the sunny episode which had me dying when dennis was running for office. charlie writes his campaign speech. that is when we find out charlie is probably dyslexic.

Dick van Dyke Show, season 4 ep 10: Pink Pills & Purple Parents. Flashback to a very nervous Laura meeting Rob's parents for the first time, so she takes some of Millie's pills. Even funnier than the iconic It May Look Like a Walnut.
Life in Pieces, either S1E5 or S1E8. The new parents are too overprotective with cleaning only to get skunked, or the Thanksgiving episode where Colleen's rice gives everyone gas. Both have me crying laughing every time! Such an underappreciated show!
This list basically neglected the '70s and '80s and was stacked after 2000. I would have put on "And Now, Here's Jack" from Three's Company when Jack gives a disastrous local TV cooking performance with Janet and Terri, and The Brady Bunch's "Peter and the Wolf", where Peter wears a fake mustache and pretends to be Phil Packer to double-date with Greg.
I can only assume you left off animation because it would turn into a list of Top 20 Funniest Simpsons episodes, but we will go with the old standby of Last Exit to Springfield: “We can’t bust heads like we used to, but we have our ways. I can't believe that pointed out "Master of his/my domain" became a famous phrase after the Seinfeld episode, but you didn't point out that "going commando" (going without underwear), while first identified in U.S. student slang in 1976, actually became famous and widespread after Joey used it in Friends. Considering that the writers were of an age to have experienced the usage on campus in the late 70's it's not surprising they put the term in there, but it wasn't at all widely known and in common usage until 1996 and Joey introducing the term to millions of viewers at a time.
The phrase "going commando" had been around since the Vietnam war referring to a common practice of American special forces to not wear underwear on long missions.
Home Sweet Homeschool from George Lopez. (I just like there’s an Angie and Carmen episode) and The Will or the irs episode from Reba. Any episode where Reba, BJ and Brock have to be in most of the episode together are great.
#1 is truly the best comedy episode to this day, hands down! Though, I would have chosen #TheOneWhereRossGotHigh for #Friends because it's funny from start to finish and add in Christina Pickles' best line as Monica's & Ross' mother in the entire series ... "That's a lot of information to get in 30 seconds!"
No what we do in the shadows- the blood mary curse No chewing gun - episode that she does the speech in the party drugged No nanny - episode that Niless make cc does the chicken Hard to take it super serious the list
There is an episode of Big Bang Theory that is far funnier, it's when Howard comes back from space, to find everyone too busy or sick to notice he is back, while Penny, Amy, Sheldon and Leonard are playing a game, that game was hilarious.
This list is an example of recency bias gone too far. Yes, I Love Lucy was number one but the next sequencial episode on the list is from The Golden Girls which was some 30 years later. Aside from the fact that 'Chuckles Bites the Dust' is probably the greatest episode of TV ever made and wasn't even given an honorable mention, there is also the third season premier of 'The Dick Van Dyke Show' titled 'That's my Boy?' which when filmed received the longest laugh from a studio audience ever and I believe it still stands as such. I also think that while the Frasier episode picked is pretty funny, there are better, specifically 'The Matchmaker' from season 2.
If your #1 was going to be I love Lucy it should have been the one where Lucy and Ethel worked in the chocolate factory. But you really messed up forgetting the Two Guys and a,Girl episode The One Without Dialog. From Berg's misadventure attempting to find a way to rinse the shampoo out of his hair when the water was turned off mid shower to Traylor Howard's waiting for a stray dog to expel her accidentally swallowed wedding ring to Pete's mistaken mugging in the park. Even Berg's girlfriend being chased by several angry pregnant women has you gasping for air because you are laughing so hard.
The majority of these shows were made after 1990. There are lots of laugh out moments that were missed from pre-1990... whoever compiled this list should broaden their horizons or make the titles more specific (e.g not name them of all time).
According to Jim where Cheryl told Jim that she had played him when she said she was artificially inseminated by Andy’s ßprem that episode is extremely funny
there was an episode of last man on earth. it showed how kristen wiig survived the apocalypse. she was in a shelter when the virus spread. it was wiig in a shelter just improving her ass off for 30 minutes. i was crying. the original odd couple series- felix and oscar on the the game show password. it got to the point where felix was just making sounds. martin-martin accuses his friends of stealing his cd player. he has an intense interrogation. it looks like tommy is having a seizure as he tries not to laugh.

Ham Radio is one of the funniest and I’m not really a Frasier fan. “look out, he’s got a nug”
Barney miller the brownie episode
Roseanne & all in family & good time etc

No one in the show is master of their domain
friends more iconic than lucy so every episode of friends is more lol
Worst thing is there people who actually think Friends is funny so not sure if this was actually written ironically.
I always found that episode of the office so SAD! With michaels sad little tv.. and everyone is so mean to him!
