Absolutely amazing video. I knew Liverpool in the 70s as a student, and it is so interesting to see how the city has evolved since, and how much of it has remained intact. To my mind Liverpool traditionally has been world renowned for seafaring, music, football, Shotokan, and not least its Scouser accent. Endless character to this city. So good of you to take as along this fantastic tour.

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video - it really is interesting to see how much Liverpool has changed over the years, the city centre really is worlds away from how it was back in the '70s :)
As you mention, the city is known for so much, and there's no wonder it's one of the most visited destinations in the UK, people from all around the world love coming to Merseyside!
Thank you so much for watching and for your very kind words - I'm really grateful to hear it!

I have my own story about Liverpool: I was six (1976 ) when I got my first vinil ( With the Beatles ) and then there was an fm station in my hometown Fortaleza Brazil which still has a program about The Beatles . I fell in love with the band and the folks who visited the Beatles . I visited Liverpool during the coronation and I’ll be back again . Claudia .Brazilian-American- Texan-Austinite

30 min. 30 secs. St. Luke church was bombed by the Nazi Luftwafe on 6 may 1941, a fraction only of what Liverpool suffered in the may blitz of 1941. Great reportage, Le´s walk ! BBC, eat your heart out !

That was a helluva walk and an absolutely fantastic video! You do some amazing stuff - all the places I would like to see when I'm back in the city. I once walked from Waterloo station in Crosby down the Dock road to take in the sights and finished, abolutely knackered, with an all-day breakfast in Williamson Square. There are some really interesting old buildings down the Dock Road and in the side streets. Check out the Vulcan Recording studios as well. And the German Church on Canning Street - although I am sure it used to be the Scandinavian Seamen's Church. Anyway, the different religious buildings reflect the historical ethnic communities in Liverpool.

I was a little disappointed with the route you chose from the Pier Head. I would have walked to up to where St. Nicholas Church is, as that has bags of history and is a lovely building, from there to the Town Hall, where en route is the place where the Battle of the Atlantic was conducted, you can visit and everything is still there just locked in time, it is not far from the Cavern Area. From there it is an interesting walk up to the shopping area and eventually to Bold Street.
As a Liverpudlian living abroad it was still lovely to see the all the various places, I was there 4 years ago. Loved all of it , thank you. Tra lad ……!!

Wonderful video! Visited Liverpool once each year from 1980 to '83. Incredible place with "incredible X 2" people. Saw the Reds play at their old park; introduced to Bob Wooler (RIP) who took me around one night to see some live bands; dined in and enjoyed the views from within the rotating restaurant; enjoyed the best apple pie given to me by an elderly man and wife who owned a bakery in city centre; allowed by the owner (Mr. Jones) into McCartney's home on Forthlin Rd; etc, etc. So much has changed, yet so much remains. So many street names remembered; and the religious institutions. Would love to see a similar video walk from Tithebarn St. (roughly from where the old Bradford Hotel was) out to Walton, Speke, Aigburth (Sefton Park), etc, etc.

What a fantastic video, really well put together and full of interesting facts but enough space to just enjoy the scenery. I am an ex Liverpool Fire Brigade Fireman, I left the city in 1969 to work in Scotland "for a couple of years" but met a local girl and 52 years later the rest is history. As I get towards middle age (? :-)), I find myself getting more and more nostalgic for the city and Bootle where I was raised. We revisited the city in 2019 after getting a trip for my 70th and will be back, as we only scratched the surface. Once this Covid nonsense is properly sorted out, it'll be straight on a train and a stay at the Line Hotel in Lord Nelson Street. Keep safe and keep up the good work

This video is lovely but it's a shame about the weather on this day, and I would have loved a narration instead of a minimal text telling us about Liverpool's history and about the buildings. Thanks for posting anyway.

You have some inaccurate info on the sound track the only ferries which call at the landing stage are the famous Mersey ferries. that is with the exception of the summer only service to the Isle of Man which from next year will have it' s own dedicated berth in Trafalgar Dock, The Royal Liver Building has two faces one to the river and one facing the City the one facing the river plus the Liverbird above it is to welcome seamen back home the other are both facing the city, the Queensway Road tunnel does not run under Brunswick Street but under Dale Street ,Bold Street in days gone by was THE street to be seen shopping in as it was the street where all the toffs always did their shopping ,now it is just a bit of a dump full of bars

it wasn't an award. and we didn't lose it. the unesco organisation stole our city centre's status as a world heritage site because we knocked down a building they liked.. but that building had been unused and in disrepair for years, and we have very little space in the city centre, and needed a place to build new student accommodations.
