As a Born Jamaican living abroad, I stand with my fellow Jamaicans, to have the right to have access to the Public Beaches, GOD made the Earth for all to enjoy, and it's a stinking shame that rich selfish people want to oppress and marginalize the poorer class. GOD will Judge you.
PNP MICHAEL MANLEY in the 70s told all of us that the SHORE LINE of the Caribbean sea sourrounding JAMAICA is ACCESSIBLE to all and NO ONE CAN LAY ANY CLAIM TO IT...
This naw stop we the people too comfortable, bless up for fighting jabbem. Only may get worse, even the grass in the country we cant play on, everything fence off or concrete up. Smh. Creator soon send a change
A fine should then be imposed on all beach users to ensure that the beaches are kept immaculately clean and protected. Jamaicans need to take responsibility for protecting and securing the precious legacy of this beautiful island called Jamaica 🇯🇲
We need access to beaches BUT we also need to be willing either to have to clean up the beaches every day OR pay a fee. So, if people are so nasty that they can pass right by a trash can and throw their trash on the street then they must pay a simple fee to help pay for cleaning, and must understand that when it costs more for the government to clean up the beaches due to the seaweed problems then we must pay more for access. However, places like the old dump up beach charging 800 jmd for ten year olds should not be allowed, when the same ten year old is allowed in Long Bay Beach for 100jmd. Besides, what can we the public do? I mean, we had access to the so called Reggae Beach in Prospect due to living in Three Hills and CharlesTown, yet the owner of NCB somehow manages to sell that beach to be developed after gating it off so we cannot use it.
That is totally awful. Growing up as a child, that was our best time past time during the holidays, by visiting a beach. How do poor people survive, fishing , seafood restaurants etc.
This is such an important conversation. I think more time must be alloted to these significant issues. Great interview with an eloquent and intelligentJamaican. . But we shorten this to talk about hair products come on.
Case in point Blue lagoon. Portland people are now locked out of the beach leading to Blue Lagoon. Huge housing development at Blue Lagoon... authorized by who supported by who??
Andrew Holiness you need to change that rubbish law who make that law slave master Andrew change that law like now Jamaicans need to pitician this rubbish 😮
fight back jamaican 🇯🇲 politicians selling your beach to get retirement money for them an their family corruption. one question who selling where is the money 💵 see why crime cant done in jamaica
What is the government doing Jamaica has independence so why don't they fix it. We don't have to ask the king slavery is long time ago. This is embarrassing and it shows that the plan is to sell to developer. Some of the land around the country is own by the politicians.
It's when someone spends time and money to clean up a piece of shoreline, that others want to demand access to it! When the beach is not kept clean, people don't want to go there. This is why I think it's fair to charge a fee to have access where the government is not maintaining it. That fee must be nominal though. As for the hotels, I think it's fair to let them have exclusive access to small sections for each mile of beach.
So when you take the garbage out of your house and a garbage truck come and pick it up do you pay for that or the government right you don't walk your garbage to the landfill right so me saying that is the government is use taxer payers money to pay people to come pit garbage up so why there can't do the same for the beaches that's Jamaica people tax money NYC beaches dirty but guess what sanitation have to clean the sand that's what there get pay to do keep the. Place clean the street also
My bad talking about cleaning the beach should be the government responsibility to keep the beaches clean for the locals the same way there keep the streets clean
Yes man Jamaica needs to fight back

The problem is not the beach,it's the land leading to the beach
