Ours is a small Thule which is fine! To be honest it all depends on how much space need! As the jogger’s boot is so large, a small box is fine for our needs. Think a medium black box eg Thule Force XT Medium is a good all rounder.
Is this a solid system (using the roof bars across the roof) to put a roofbox on it, or do you need to buy a separate set of roofracks for it to be solid and safe?
The box is attached to the bars which are mounted with those 4 screws. Doesn't matter in which direction they're mounted, still hanging on those 4 screws Statistically it's safer without separate racks as they add more potential points of failure.
If you want to carry more than one bike, better get cheap universal roof bars and mount the bike racks to them. Much less work because you only have to mount the racks once and then only have to loosen/tighten the four mounting points when mounting it. Also saves you the constant hassle of adjusting everything (on the roof of course). Examples: If you use the modular bars: unscrew 4 screws, rotate bars, screw 4 screws in, then adjust and mount two racks, each has 3 mounting brackets with 2 nuts, doing this on the roof. Screwed 20 times, mostly in a quite uncomfortable position. Taking it off is 20 screws, too but without adjusting. If you use the universal bars it's 16 screws and adjusting for the first time, then only 4 screws each time you put it on or take it off. Much better if you have the space to store the bars with the rack attached to them. And with the bars you usually do not have to handle loose screws, so nothing can get lost because you dropped it accidentially. ;)
My understanding is that most roof tents connect to roof bars. So in theory once the Modular roof bars have been fixed across the car as seen in the video, the tents will connect to them ok. Happy camping!
Not hex bolts, special Torx screws with a tip that avoids damaging the threads and a head that distributes the load on the rather thin metal of the bar. I guess M6. You could get a hex bolt and a beefy washer instead.
I saw that Dacia actually do a set of 2 bike holders that fit onto the modular roof bars. Quite lumpy at £300 for the set. www.dacia.co.uk/vehicles/jogger.html
@@captainhelpuk Cool indeed. Thanks for reply 👍 I’ve got a Duster Journey arriving in a few weeks so was looking at Roof Box options that work with the modular roof bars.
Nice review but why you not wearing the venom yellow Liv? 👍
Haha, summer watch for me!
Technical term is spigots to line up the roof bars.
@captainhelpuk would you recommend a particular size roof box for the Dacia Jogger or will any roof box work on the bars? Thanks so much

Thanks for showing. Just one thing Dacia is Romanian and pronounced da chee a.
Many thanks , noted!
You can blame Top Gear for that pronunciation 😂
Can also be pronounced da-cia.
Dacia is French and you pronounce it as: Dosiya. It used to be made in Romenia; Dacia cars younger than three years all come from MOROCCO
What is the spacing of the roof beams in centimeters after unfolding? Regards from Poland 🙂

The standard roof bars are fine for our Thule roof box. It is a small one, but all very solid and safe.

Have you found any bicycle racks that fit the roof racks??
Not yet but would be interested to know if the Thule Roof Mounted Bike Rack fits ok!

So easy , thanks
Will they take roof tent or do you need roof rack on top of the rails.

Where is the tool normally stored. Just bought a jogger
I keep mine in the glove box!
Anybody know the size of hex bolt the bars use? Want to buy some spares.

Anyone found a quality bike rack to fit these?

👍
Is that a Dacia Roofbox at the end of the Video or a 3rd Party?
Hi Chris it’s a Thule. The black box looks great with the black wheels and wing mirrors.

Can I just tie luggage to the top of the roof with that system?
Do you mean while using the modular roof bars across the roof? Or while the roof bars are in standard position?
Using the roof bars across the roof.
