Definitely an interesting game even if your new scenery rules regarding line of sight didn’t get shown off to the best they could’ve been. Here’s still hoping we get that convoy defence scenario you mentioned a bit ago. Would be nice to see how one of those would play out.
The US are a great solid faction... just don't rely on torpedos. I recommend get at least 1 big carrier and extra flights. Dive bombers to smash IJN destroyers and cruisers before the torpedoes get you. Old cheap battleships are good - I have 2 - they are real bruisers at short range. The bigger battleships are cool, but hard to fit in most lists. I have one and love it but don't get to use it much. I got the fleet box and it is good value but the destroyer option is a bit odd... The Fletcher class destroyers are much better.
The scale is 1/1800. Apart from the sets from Warlord Games some older/other minis are this scale (if you are looking for odd ships, different looking planes etc). Destroyers and cruisers are way cheaper in the game so get some of thoose. Any battleship are big and hit hard (no need to go for the biggest/most modertn ones unless in a huge game/special scenario). The US is good with planes.
Nice watch both! Enjoyed this one
Thanks!
A fun watch guys. The new terrain looks great 🍻
Thanks!

Thanks. I know Emilio is keen to field his subs... hopefully soon.
Looking at getting into this game with the USN. Any buying guide tips for a new starter?

How are you deciding the engagement scenario?
Usually we roll on the matched scenario table for competitive play. It creates the sense of balance.
What game is this?
Victory at Sea. WW2 naval fleet action. Warlord games make and sell it. The rules design is by Matt Sprange (?) from Mongoose games.
@@c.h.9970 Thanks, I normally play Warhammer 40,000 but I've been thinking of branching out.
I started off on 40k . Still love the aesthetic. Still do square base WFB. This game scratches a different itch but scratches it very well.
