That jazz was a hot touch, kind of showed how southern blacks went to California and made it home, and now it is coming full circle, there is a reverse migration back to the south. I also get why the schools a person attendeded is such an important question, the brother in the gray hoodie put context on it and drove it home to an elementary level, school bonds drove the personal interactions, and helped the kids of that era form alliances in their formative years, that proved crucial to how wars/politics played out as they progressed into adulthood...Right on KMV! At first I didn't like this episode because of the full jazz hit in the middle I thought it lasted to long and took up the time of hearing more of their story. But I always double back on Kev Mac and I think this is the best interview of all not only the content but the visuals and how tweaking the sound is hard as fuck. This that PBS/BBC type docuseries. Season 3 I see you have Kev Mac.

I thought Low Bottoms came from the Bottoms which means the “high end” from a north to south. Hence “bottom” of the city limits and can be the “rough area .. bottoms”. so the low bottoms would be the “low end streets” 20 -50’s and called low “end” bottoms

best Damu interview since jackamoe. I met two cats from villains Harold of 10th ave and Florence... and 2 cats that stayed off of Beach and centenela. That’s 2 examples of families moving westward.
My understanding of the low bottoms is anything south the 10 freeway to the LA city limits. Originally the eastside was considered south central, but then the name was given to the west side as well, from the 20's down. I've seen the W/S R20 Bloods claim low bottoms as well? Im confused 😕.
*Eastside Low Bottoms shit !* Depending on who u ask, it can be confusing. Based on wut i kno, and I'm from down here, the Low Bottoms boundaries are as follows: Washington to the north, Slauson to the south, Main to the west and Alameda to the East. Anything in ANY direction outside of that isn't the Eastside Low Bottoms.
That's why I loved the Villains they took many many losses but that didn't stop them from issuesing them back out. They lead the way no disrespect to Stutterbox from Pueblo's but they were safe in the projects the villains were frontliners. J Bone, Bubbles Thumper, Big and Lil KD VIP, Demon
@Krazy Emmett in my opinion here are some of the hitters from the 80's that I heard or seen growing up. Cheese O and Big Syclone from Athens Millers. Cheese O was a gangbanging Superstar he got killed in 83. When are #1 Rivals was Main Street he would go up to Locke by himself in broad daylight in his 64. People would round around scared saying Cheese O is here Cheese O is here. He would then engage in a shootout with Droopy from Main street I know this to be true because my brother was there and I heard crips on several occasions say the same thing!. Syclone was his right-hand man he got killed in 89. Also you had Big Ratt Dog and Bolow from BH Evil AL and Big Laniack from DLB China Dog from Lueders Park. Big Sonny from 62 Brims Big HB from Miller Gangster Big Bang, Nelly and Ricochet from Inglewood family. Even thought OG Puddin is from the 70's era he was still very active in the 80's as well. That's why alot of people had once thought he started WS Piru. There's alot to name you had Man Power from BH and Big Will. Doc T from DLB .The crazy thing about Santa Claus after getting shot all the times that he did he ended up getting killed by a punk-ass smoker. Dam I almost forgot Kenny Boy from CMG and Tone Stone from BPS.
@@the_gunner8363 I said the last time that I saw Swanny. I hollered at him over there where I saw Lil Tex from Swans, and a couple of others. They were doing something with a low rider. That was on 71st or 70th, a couple spaces west of Avalon, on the north side of the street. I was just leaving Ramona's on 68th & San Pedro😼
That's just a block or two off of Florence, and the backside of 68 or 69 ECC hood, which is like borderline Swan/ECC hood. I've been living in the same hood since 1961. My family has been on the same block off of Florence & Central since 1951, and in totality, my family has been on that "Eastside" since the early 1900's. My grandmother moved in with family on 43rd & Ascot in 1925, coming from Birmingham, Alabama. So, with all of that being said, I guess I know a little bit about that "Eastside." 😼

*Eastside Low Bottoms shit !* Rewatching... There were 2 different factions of 48's. In the late 80's and early 90's, those were the 48 Mafia Crips that started on 48th Street between Compton Ave and Hooper Ave. The younger cats, before some of them started banging, had their own little crew called FGP-Fly Guy Posse. The 48GC's were a different faction that were on the other side of Hooper, closer to Central Ave. I THINK they started in the early 90's. @Basil Ramel The book I mentioned above was very thorough in relaying historically relevant experiences of Black people that are L.A. natives and those that migrated to L.A.; It led me to go in person to the Ralph J. Bunche Center at UCLA to do additional research...if you've never read the book, then you have no idea the depth of what was written about
Basil Ramel during the same time Abraham Lincoln sent American troops to kill thousands of native Dakotas and Lakotas in Minnesota and South Dakota just to win the elections in those states. Different animal same 💩. These politicians don’t care about the poor, have u ever seen them in any hoods caring about the ppl besides prior to the elections? We only see them on the news “acting” like they care but after that they go back to their rich comfort zone.
Basil Ramel as far as illegal immigration goes it only exists because there’s a demand for cheap labor and both republicans and democrats have created that demand. I’m from Texas a red state and I’ve been in the construction industry since I was 17 and Let me tell you blacks are some of the hardest working ppl I’ve ever seen. But sadly not many in the construction business. And to be honest white contractors don’t wanna hire blacks and that’s facts. So yes here in America everything is about color don’t deny that fact..

I thought Low Bottoms came from the Bottoms which means the “high end” from a north to south. Hence “bottom” of the city limits and can be the “rough area .. bottoms”. so the low bottoms would be the “low end streets” 20 -50’s and called low “end” bottoms

My understanding of the low bottoms is anything south the 10 freeway to the LA city limits. Originally the eastside was considered south central, but then the name was given to the west side as well, from the 20's down. I've seen the W/S R20 Bloods claim low bottoms as well? Im confused 😕.
*Eastside Low Bottoms shit !*
Depending on who u ask, it can be confusing. Based on wut i kno, and I'm from down here, the Low Bottoms boundaries are as follows:
Washington to the north,
Slauson to the south,
Main to the west
and Alameda to the East.
@Krazy Emmett i tryed.🤷♂️
@Krazy Emmett he good i hit him yesterday to see if he would give some history. Our history goes back way farther than I thought maybe like 68-67.
He would then engage in a shootout with Droopy from Main street
I know this to be true because my brother was there and I heard crips on several occasions say the same thing!.

Rewatching...
Disco aka Chubby was a 48 Mafia Crip that lived on 48th between Compton and Ascot.

if you ever what to read about it, I suggest taking time to read "Black Los Angeles: American Dreams and Racial Realities" ISBN-13: 9780814737354
