Given that Rebecca Sugar is a Miyazaki fan, no, I don't think so, although it's unclear if Zach Callison was cast as Steven before or after he did The Wind Rises. That being said, this is partly why I suspect Pearl and Garnet's fusion (presumably Topaz or Citrine, I wager) might be voiced by Cate Blanchett who was in Ponyo cast as a character reminiscent of Galadriel.
