It makes for a beautiful effect. As someone who played this years ago I can say he just doubled the difficulty in those 4 measures. What a technique!

I'm 61 years old, have been listening to classical music pretty consistently since the early '50s (Columbia Record Club member), starting off with Grant Johanessen's Chopin Polonaises. Gryaznov's Chopin Etudes are the best I've heard, especially op. 25 no. 12. Marvelous.
Flawless, beautiful and powerful! Bringing to life so many voicings normally not heard, with extreme clarity. Thank you for this wonderful performance!

He's almost perfect, his flawlees technique and musicality elevate his redition to a vey high level. Indeed he's an exceptional interpreter, Thanks so much for post this delicious peace of art. As a recommendation for the Chopin lovers younger generations I encourage to watch Claudio Arrau most wonderful rendition of this Etudes, no doubts...the best ever.
+Matt McCarrin I agree with that, but if you watch to other videos by him, this tends to be somewhat of a mannerism. He tends to push too hard the low range fff octaves, at the expense of losing balance with the keyboard´s upper register. Having said that, I am in awe since yesterday, when I first listened to the art of this magnificent pianist.
absolutely hilarious playing this monumental amount of work so superbly, and then to come out and play everyone's childhood piece as if nothing happened. what a lovely performance.
One of the most incredibly gifted keyboard artists performing today. Gryaznov's stunning virtuosity allows him to realize the intended soul of a composition! Brilliant!
@@guscox9651 what? How in the world can you say that memory is not involved? Literally everything we humans do needs memory, starting from the writing of a simple comment which firstly needs the semantic memory to recall the word you want to use to express your thoughts. A recital has an incredible usage of procedural memory (the movement of hands and fingers and of feet for the pedals), and the magic which happens in the mind of a musician while he plays all happens thanks to our memory.
For me, Chopin's Etudes used to be "Farewell"(Op.10, No.3), "Black Keys"(Op.10, No.5), and "Revolutionary"(Op.10, No.12). But, thanks to TH-cam, I came into contact with Chopin's whole sets of Etudes(Op.10 and Op.25). This gorgeous, passionate and imaginative music delights me and further heals me. The book, "Chopin: The Man and His Music" by James Huneker (1857-1921) is recommended to be read.
Superb performance with excellent dynamic control, gorgeous tonal quality and nuances, beautiful expression and technical excitement and precision!!! Bravissimo!!!
Wonderful! a young pianist/musician who puts the music of the composer first, realizing it at a very high level for any age..... modesty, taste and concentration on the essence...rare today!
Where waters ebb there is always a corresponding flow; and the act of remembering is the flow of thought that has drained away. Plato. I remember when first I started listening to these etudes in the early seventies; and how the turbulence of the middle section of the third of opus ten perplexed me. It was simply that I had never before heard music with such multi-layered complexity. Of course it was just a matter of repeated hearings and the complexity shone forth in radiant brilliant clarity. This pianist plays these etudes as if he divined the composers’ original intent and heightened it with consummate individuality of artistry. “Music expresses wordless odyssey’s” and these two works reveal a mind and poetic heart that embraced the whole experience of mankind spiritually, intellectually, and emotionally. So thankful to The Lord Jesus for the heart and musical aptitude to appreciate such priceless gems. Truly, the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. pwg
Chopin would be so proud! Bravo! Moving! Just acknowledging the time and effort you put onto those is MASSIVE and incomprehensible by the most! Keep feeling passionate about this music brother! All the best!
I find myself returning over and over again to this performance. How can it be bettered? Authoritative, sensitive and all the colours of the rainbow. I find it compelling - and it draws me in; won't let me go.
These personal interpretations really show not only full command of his fingers and sound but it also shows a great understanding of the numerous functions of the melody under each finger. It is so easy for pianists to just read the score and not give second thought! All arts are connected, to be a good pianist one needs to be a philosopher like Gryaznov!
Mr. Vyacheslav Gryaznov, Russian pianist, b Jan 15, 1982. 1st prize Rubinstein international competition in Moscow in 1997. His Chopin is one of the best ever played. Thank you.
I love how this young gentleman makes Chopin look so effortless, yet his interpretation is marvelous. I literally don't have any words that can express how beautiful his interpretation is, it's as if he is the reincarnation of Chopin.
Refined musical thrust and restraint, stunning technical equipment. A joy, and rare treat, to listen to the music (underlined) of these etudes. Thank you, thank you.

I'm 61 years old, have been listening to classical music pretty consistently since the early '50s (Columbia Record Club member), starting off with Grant Johanessen's Chopin Polonaises. Gryaznov's Chopin Etudes are the best I've heard, especially op. 25 no. 12. Marvelous.
This is the most talent I have heard in a long time
A program that consists of the Art of fugue and Chopin complete etudes is a very brave program...big respect
Op. 25 no.5 is out of this world.. absolutely perfect
op 25 no 1 both so perfectly written and played 😍
Flawless, beautiful and powerful! Bringing to life so many voicings normally not heard, with extreme clarity. Thank you for this wonderful performance!
I never heard the dark poisoned minor chords
of the Etude op.10 Nr.6 - 12:00 - in such a hypnotic way
- what a great musician !
MY god...the feels on opus 25 no.12
No kidding, wow! It helps to have a great piano and acoustics to really bring the menacing quality of this etude out.
You mean 11
He clearly said 12
Chris Longford 😂😂😂😂😂
@@hairglowingkyle4572 Why do you think they meant 11?
A dream of mine to do this.
Ted Mosby i have played opus 10 nr 4, 8 and 12 and I am learning opus 10 nr 1 and opus 25 nr 12. I also just learned liszt transcendental etude number 10👍 This dude is awesome as hell! Playing all Chopins etudes in one koncert😱 with No mistakes😂
@@runeleichtlund1438 *one mistake
I really like 3:39 - 3:47. I never heard an interpretation on this way. Very interesting.
listen to the recording by vitaly margulis: same voicing
Wonderful!
I believe his left hand touch voicing is the difference throughout the entire performance. Sheds new light in a lot of spots.
@Ascaithe its actually not the voicing of the left hand, but the RH chords, which is far harder to do
He's almost perfect, his flawlees technique and musicality elevate his redition to a vey high level. Indeed he's an exceptional interpreter, Thanks so much for post this delicious peace of art. As a recommendation for the Chopin lovers younger generations I encourage to watch Claudio Arrau most wonderful rendition of this Etudes, no doubts...the best ever.
Very impressive - and to me what sticks out the most is the interpretation of the accents and phrasing in the left hand.
Strong left hand.
I´m absolutely openmouthed from this brilliant performace!! Trembling and tears in my eyes.
absolutely hilarious playing this monumental amount of work so superbly, and then to come out and play everyone's childhood piece as if nothing happened. what a lovely performance.
A prodigious pianist almost wholely unknown outside of Russia! A young master!
One of the most incredibly gifted keyboard artists performing today. Gryaznov's stunning virtuosity allows him to realize the intended soul of a composition! Brilliant!
Slava is an incredible talent! A deep understanding with the vistuosity to realize and support it! BRAVO!
Your job is fantastic! Op25-5 was particularly impressive for me.
Best revolutionary I have ever heard, this guy is such a genius
Bravo! Superb technique, excellent musicality and terrific memory! And on a recital?! Playing all of the Etudes live is no easy feat. Bravo again!
I don't think memory really comes into it too much, but the technique yea
@@guscox9651 what? How in the world can you say that memory is not involved? Literally everything we humans do needs memory, starting from the writing of a simple comment which firstly needs the semantic memory to recall the word you want to use to express your thoughts.
A recital has an incredible usage of procedural memory (the movement of hands and fingers and of feet for the pedals), and the magic which happens in the mind of a musician while he plays all happens thanks to our memory.
Not to say that to play that flawless for 1 hour and a half would be non-sense without long term memory capacity
Probably the best living pianist
You’re probably right.
Excellent performance. Ranks right up there with Pollini's 1972 recording of the etudes.
I totally agree with you!
I think it is even better! Pollini's play is boring, but very good. But gryaznov's is almost umpredictable, but still beautiful and interesting!
I don't know much about classical music but there's a beautiful flow in your performance that makes my heart leap
I've been hunting for a version of Chopin's Etude that I can always go back to, and I found it. Thaaaaanks. I am floored.
Chopin's Etudes, I mean ☺
Amazing. I've never heard the Chopin's etudes played like that. He brings a new light to them which I enjoyed very much!
Prodigious memory! Remarkable playing! Sensitive and crystal clear! Bravo!
3:39 is some crazy control. The voicing is insane. Also, we get to see where Yunchan Lim got his inspiration.
Woah, this guy seriously brought tears to my eyes. Wow.
He has unique tastes of music talents and It is incredibly fits in every moment. I never heard of this good and it is not even recording.
Superb performance with excellent dynamic control, gorgeous tonal quality and nuances, beautiful expression and technical excitement and precision!!! Bravissimo!!!
This is incredible. I have listened to many interpretations over the years, and I feel like I am discovering these études with this one. Wonderful.
Wonderful!
a young pianist/musician who puts the music of the composer first, realizing it at a very high level for any age.....
modesty, taste and concentration on the essence...rare today!
Truly, the earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. pwg
We are so very lucky to have a pianist of such outstanding ability who can truly play Chopin's etudes for our enjoyment today.
This guy is so good that it actually makes me nervous to watch and listen. Wow.
Best performance of the Chopin Etudes I've seen...phenomenal
What a joy to discover this talented, classical pianist. Such a beautiful touch and fluid technique.
Chopin would be so proud! Bravo! Moving! Just acknowledging the time and effort you put onto those is MASSIVE and incomprehensible by the most! Keep feeling passionate about this music brother! All the best!
This is awesome.
Moments like this voicing in 3:40 shows a lot of taste
I think at this point I must have contributed to ~40 of the view count. Absolutely incredible performance.
Extraordinary.
Chopin is crying tears of joy!
I find myself returning over and over again to this performance. How can it be bettered? Authoritative, sensitive and all the colours of the rainbow. I find it compelling - and it draws me in; won't let me go.
What an impressive performance! The interpretation is superb.
Wow what brilliant playing, Ive never heard of him before !! He just mastered it. Bravo !!!!
Etude op 10 n2, stunning! The best performance in my opinion
This was the most Amazing exemple of Perfection that I have EVER seen!!
Epic. Incredible display of talent.
Sean Fletcher that is not talent, that is actually hard work
+Rudolf Feindler God doesn't exist :P
Diego Troetsch it’s mostly talent. 99.9% of humans could not do what he just did even if they practiced 8 hours a day for 10 years.
@@ytyt3922 *now you take that back*
These personal interpretations really show not only full command of his fingers and sound but it also shows a great understanding of the numerous functions of the melody under each finger. It is so easy for pianists to just read the score and not give second thought! All arts are connected, to be a good pianist one needs to be a philosopher like Gryaznov!
Who is this guy and how have I not heard of him. Some of these interpretations are impeccable.

Top marks for this perfect mastery, including exemplary posture!
I don't think I've seen anyone else play 25-5 better than he does. 39:13
