I see how Maury Terry managed to use Berkowitz and the other way around. Berkowitz lets Caparrelli speak and tell the story, as long as it fits his own narrative and as long as it creates sympathy and understanding for acts, that deserves none of that.
The same with Terry back then.
And Franzese spots a "good story" and he's in.
Berkowitz was and is a weak, troubled person, very absorbed with himself and he knows who will keep him in the limelight, without mentioning and focusing on the horrific crimes, he committed.
    Much respect to you, Manny.

Berkowitz will continue to try and stay relevant. Serial killer lore can become redundant and hence new "evidence" and new spins on these cases are eternal. The question is and remains in my mind with Franzese interview as well as anyone else interviewing the lone paranoid schizophrenic Berkowitz, is how anyone can expect candor from Berkowitz. He who knows that his occult claims keep him in the rotating spotlight. He assuages his overtures of contrition with becoming a "Christian", which one would think might produce some honesty and integrity and genuine remorse, while projecting his actions of some clandestine group. Sadly, too many people are eager to jump on his bandwagon because it fulfils some warped sociological construct, or it makes them money through publications of various books and articles, expounded on with license that exceeds even a Hollywood script. Not to mention SOS attracts the fellow "crazies". The "Son of Light" which he calls himself, is still a remorseless individual; a self-promoting, unreliable sociopath.

IMO this whole Franzese/SOS thing is two extreme narcissists using eachother for their own purposes. Berkie is incredibly media savvy and a great self promoter (look at what he did during SOS for example with the letters). In another alternate timeline where Berkie didn't shoot people I truly believe he'd have become a columnist or a sitcom writer. The dude had/has talent. He gets what he wants out of this and so does Franzese. A pathetic spectacle all around. A true insult to those of us who actually care about this case.

@@s.m.elliott7803 I personally refuse to watch the interview, but JoeJoe and NYC (along with the Manny interview on this) told me what I knew would come back around...it's the same interview he did with Maury Terry, where he specifically (and it's common with sociopaths, and actually a thing you see a lot thanks to military training where Dave probably picked it up in a more refined form like Dahmer did), attempt to mirror the interviewer, who is in such a rush adrenaline state to "finally hook a big one" they cannot see the obvious, because they live in a mirror universe of their own outside of the basic reality. To the greatness of Pope Franzese, the glory must go, I guess is what this was about.
In every case I am aware of (as Manny points out repeatedly, but I will denote here), Disco Dave is so very specific in who he talks to, that he knows how the interview will go before he does it. So he knows he has the fish on the hook, and always let's them lead him in questioning. Which is why I always like someone like Det. Mike to break down how easy it is to see someone like Disco Dave do it to others. He's seen it literally thousands of times, face to face. Manny has too by now, in the hundreds surely.
Kemper and Gacy did it constantly, though in smaller batches (meaning in sections of interviews, not the entire time of an interview). It makes them appear more sympathetic (in their minds), more approachable, and more human.
Trust me...they ain't human in the sense anyone thinks of as human.
I ain't going into the other stuff. I back Manny, and only Manny on this.
Sorry if I spoke out of turn on that one, Manny. I am...really not pleased with the Dave/Franzese thing. Not at all.

I agree with you Manny . I was very disappointed with this interview. It wasn't really anything that we didn't already know about . I don't know why I was expecting to see more accountability on his part , but once again when the shootings were brought up he quickly tried to shift gears and was like "yeah whatever that was" He never wants to talk about the crimes , sounded like more excuses . I still believe he joined the military so quickly to prepare himself for the crimes . This was all calculated in my opinion and I don't think he'll ever admit that now . I really hope you can get an interview with him Manny because I know you'll hold him accountable.

True . You are a threat to his "good" Christian image . There's just so many unanswered questions that we will probably never get the answers to . It's like some sick game he plays . He knows he holds this power of knowledge and wants to take it to the grave .
So maybe it definitely had something to do with the drugs he was taking in the military that wired his brain differently , I remember Compretto saying he believes the drugs changed him because his behavior was odd after the military, even though for the most part he was the same but did things like laugh inappropriately . I do believe the LSD had a lot to do with that but I think it was a combination of that and being born with a predisposition of being a serial killer.

LOL, i can totally relate to hating the upstairs neighbors for the same reasons of noise. Thank goodness for white and brown noise mp3 files available on the internet as well as ear plugs and headphones. Oh yea and speakers. Funny thing is they have mental issues (bi-polar, schizo effective and from what i visibly saw anxiety issues) so its easy to annoy them in the right way since i also have schizophrenia but fortunately have learned from a very early age to keep it under control. Still i know and have plenty of friends with mental issues who are not purposely triggering morons so that is no excuse as one of my good neighbors told me when she said not to feel bad about playing my speakers loud because they are the ones who started with me since i moved here in 2007. Also as my therapist told me one way to look at it is to think what a miserable life they must lead to be so focused all these years doing passive aggressive nonsense with someone like me. Guy is already pushing 70 if he is not there already and smokes heavily so it is indeed a real waste of what time he has left. Me i just go by the old Harlan Ellison saying of living well is the best revenge when it comes to such toxic types.
Makes me wonder if David Berkowitz went thru many a night hunt with no results which must have frustrated him greatly in the same way a guy going out on the town for the night hoping for some female action. Might explain some of the sloppy actions during the murders.
Yea i saw that Franzese video about a week ago and it looked way too religious and blaise with no sense of guilt like he is totally repentant with no worries. I was starting to think if the other prisoners see the interview it could cause Berkowitz problems as they might start thinking this guy is a poser and been doing a classic found religion con on them.
Thanks for the always incredible videos and hope your cough goes away soon. I have been dealing with one myself but that is on me as i like to bathe with the bathroom window open when the weather is warm. Thank goodness the local supermarket had a great sale on greek yogurt which has helped alot in keeping it from getting bothersome.

He could have easily gathered with other people trying to summon demons, act out rituals from the Satanic Bible and still acted alone as SOS.
One would think Franzese, being a devout Christian would be more interested in the spiritual angle than a mental health angle and explore that line of questioning, discussion. Berkowitz might be the reason that is not discussed... even if you are 100% convinced that played no part.

That doesn't mean they got in packs and roamed the streets at 3am. Just kept ears and eyes out for any information.
Part of my theory, was Disco Dave was quite keen on staying out of well known, high-travelled different family territories, because they did have (in a way) lookouts and informants of their own (to include cops & FBI, depending on family and era) on their local turfs. So that limited how and where Disco Dave could operate. Which led me to the theory that he heavily used CB communications in different periods of time to at least try to monitor movements so he could move in and out without getting caught. Which we know he did at least sometimes, with access to the police band via very expensive radio crystals.
I don't mean it was a grand plan, just that he did it with an eye and ear to keep himself in operation. Sometimes. In an area so vast, with so many people, the odds were in Dave's favor of movement and activity, in an era where everything was still way looser and easier to do stuff in.

I recently watched an interview, it was recent but not the MF one
He went off on a roll about how he thought he killed his mother during birth. Did his adoptive parents tell him at 5 yrs old she passed while giving birth?
    He talks all about himself.
I also watched a Maury Terry video.
    Hes all over the place.
Yes you need to interview him!

The interview was so tedious that I could watch only about half of it. I went into it intrigued by the meeting of a former mob guy who must have developed a lot of street smarts and is now a Christian, and a serial killer who says he's a Christian. I thought Michael Franzese might pick up on a vibe about David Berkowitz and ask more pointed questions.
But DB felt to me like one of the ever-changing shapes in a 1960s lava lamp. And, at least as far as I know from having watched only half the interview, there wasn't any clear remorse. Some people might say that DB has told his story for so long that he can't be expected to convey fresh remorse. But he seemed totally immersed in a story that left me feeling as if I'd just been hypnotized. Dazed, like, "What just happened?"
    A strange experience.

Hey Manny, it's been a long time. I am looking forward to watching that interview with David. I always factored into this subject the understanding that David did have a genuine conversion experience and that was indeed a reason why I was never 100% on board with what some of your conclusions were back then around the time when I stopped following you so intently. I guess I fell off around the time I moved out of NY about two years ago and you were going over the Tom and Darlene interview which again I wasn't in agreement with you about. In fairness I don't know what you covered since then or where you are now. I do plan to start listening to you more though and appreciate the work you have put into this, but I always felt that without that David B interview you would always be missing something. Either way, I am definitely interested in the interview and what you have to say about it. Take care

Most of the interview, at least half of it, was all psychobabble about childhood trauma, guilt, etc. and there is no indication in the description that it would get past Berkowitz's childhood. Not interesting except the fact Berkowitz looks to have become quite frail ..... and old. I missed the part about Orchard Beach because I was too bored.....I'd like to have been able to spend a night on Orchard Beach for any reason because I was there once in my life......in the daytime. Of course, I would not spend the night on that beach alone now. BTW, most Christians know from Scripture that "wine is a mocker". Not a good idea to be hawking it.

I said in one of your previous videos that Berkowitz is a pathological liar and you disagreed with my statement. Now you seem to recognize or acknowledge he has some credibility issues. There is one thing you may not have considered. Berkowitz is willing to talk about anything prior to the shootings. Berkowitz sets the parameters for an interview.
Even if you got an interview with Berkowitz your interview would be shut down if you went down a line of questioning, subject Berkowitz does not want to discuss.
Berkowitz mentioned once again The Satanic Bible, the ideology of the Process though not by name, an occult group. He mentioned dark forces. You seem to dismiss the possibility this exposure combined with his fragile mind, ego, dissociative identity disorder, delusional mind created a perfect storm for him, specifically.

Once you mentioned the wine (which is why I immediately ff to the interview part) I knew we were going to have a similar take. From the start his interview felt just like the one TBundy did from death row with some kind of wing nut celebrity evangelist and in which TB blames his atrocities on demon possession. It was just a dud interview all around. Berkie didn't have devil worshipping buddies so that's a third rail question for him.
