    Very clear and precise, Citrix just set managed disks for machine catalogs by default, has made me re-consider certain machines.

    Do you need Azure backup for VMs with manage disk or Microsoft do the backup and snapshot as well ?

      You will still need to backup, if you want you can also take snapshot. Microsoft only provides the HA for storage cluster. hope this answers your question

      Managed disk supports data loss, but for data corruption, you still need backups.

      Backup is point in time recovery including periodic copies of data in a machine, so backup is always required for operations
