I sadly moved away from Suffolk 12 years ago,and the River Deben was one of the most magical rivers I ever spent time on and near. It brought back so many happy memories seeing it once again. I learned to sail on the Deben, and I can still hear the ghostly sounds of Curlews on my walks to Kyson Point. Thanks so much for posting.
Thanks! A magical place indeed. Also now in fall and winter, it must be beautiful. I wonder if you guys who kindly commented here know each other, as so many sailed on the Deben since their youth?
I spent over 55 years sailing the East Coast with over 30 based on the Deben at Ramsholt. A magical spot. I miss it all very much having just swallowed the anchor. That coast has a mystery,- a wildness which is difficult to describe to someone who has never visited it.
Thank you very much, John, for watching and commenting. The wildness, mystery, and beauty are all the more impressive as they are hidden just a few miles behind bigger towns. We were sitting at Ramsholt watching an elderly couple putting their wooden dinghy in the water and rowing out to their moored sailboat. All in great style that impressed me much. You could see that they did that for decades and still enjoyed it very much.
This video calms me down a lot. Great choise of music. Call of the sea is getting louder after watching this. Thank you very much! Greetings from Germany
I’ve sailed these rivers many times but you come to them with a freshness and such great photography that you have made them new for me. Many thanks. Wish the video was longer!
What a great film! You picked a beautiful part of the British Isles which most people will never see. Your film told the story very well and great skills in the cinematic shots and editing. The sailing also looked good!
Great film of the East Coast. I am moored in the Walton Backwaters and visit these rivers regularly. They are wonderful places and your film shows this well. Some great pubs! Thanks.
very nice indeed... you made an excellent job of explaining the delights of the east coast. Most of my sailing has been around the here and the mooring at "the Rocks" on the Deben is one of the nicest in England. The estuaries with their soupy waters, mud flats, shingle banks and ever shifting bars which require good timing, a decent engine and the wind in the right place are not to everyone's taste, but they are home to me now
Thank you very much, Dylan, that's an honour from someone who knows the region so well and has created a wealth of sailing films. The estuaries are often a thrill, but their beauty is a great reward. Also the people we met were very kind, and connected to the maritime history of the region. And versed sailors.
Thanks for that video, sailed and canoe,d all those rivers over the years, with sevaral adventures! Once losing our boat due to not enough chain lenth, but fortunately the tide was coming in and found it upstream. A beautiful area.
Thank you, Zabessa, for subscribing. As the harbour master in Southwold said to us: there's Maurice Griffith for the swatchways on the English coast of the North Sea, and Erskine Childers for the other side. Both great!
Wonderful photography. Brought back so many memories. My father kept his boat on the Deben and I lived in Burnham on Crouch through out the 1960 before moving south to the Solent for work. Still sailed back to the East Coast whenever possible, the Solent is so crowded. Keep enjoying your sailing.
Thank you, Cornilius. Yeah, the camera was lost on the way back in a wave in the North Sea, it had footage from the Deben and Orwell… The Crouch is still on our list.
Fascinating and a beautifull though at times rough voyage to get there and back at this time of year, in a very well found boat and good seamanship.Thankyou.
Thanks. Oh yes, she's a beauty. Coelacanth is a "Hutting 40", a full keeler made of aluminium built in Friesland in the Netherlands. The design is by Dick Koopmans and Tjerk Hutting.
Thank you! Pin Mill is very nice, we were there last year th-cam.com/video/4mnYeREf3jo/w-d-xo.html Unfortunately, there was not have enough time left this year. So much to see in this beautiful region.

That’s a very poetic comment. I used to sail from Pin Mill in the 80’s with my uncle so know what you mean

Thanks Kais! All music is self made, glad you liked it!

Thanks, Robert! Indeed, it's not a tourist spot, and yet it seems so quintessentially english to me…
Great film of the East Coast. I am moored in the Walton Backwaters and visit these rivers regularly. They are wonderful places and your film shows this well. Some great pubs! Thanks.
Thanks! Unfortunately we didn‘t make it to the Walton Backwaters, hopefully next time. There is still a lot to see in this region!
This is excellent filming with calm and interesting naration. I live and sail in the East Coast and still found your video very interesting.
Pleased to hear, thank you!
What a fantastic film. Thanks.
Thank you, Marvi!

I couldn't put it better.
Thank you.
Thanks for watching.
Amazing work! You show my country at it's best. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks, Martin, it's a beautiful area.
But not its grammar...
@@multa765 It was a great post about sailing. I didn't notice any problems with grammar, nor would I care.
Nice trip. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, David!

Oh, that sounds thrilling! The more you know and sail these splendid waters, the more adventurous you get, I guess…
Quoting the great MG from my favourite book of all time.. you hve a new follower and subscriber! Great video, beautiful boat, thank you

@@sy.coelacanth he's right.. although a bit of a 'cloud over' Mr Childers, but still one of my favourite books
Nice one!
Thanks!

Thank you very much. Glad it evoked memories. How did the landscape of the Deben change since the Sixties? It looks so timeless to us visitors…
It seems to have changed very little, a few more moorings perhaps and the Ramsholt Arms has had a new coat of paint. Long May it stay that way!
Amazing video....loved it.... beautifully filmed...👍
Thank you, Chris.
Nicely filmed and good music accompanying as well ! Goed gedaan !
Dankuwel, Anthony! All music is self made.
Beautiful!
Merci beaucoup, Vincent.
Thank you. Excellent photography!
Thanks, Peter, very kind.
Lovely filmmaking and storytelling. Thank you.
Thank you, Jamie.
Simply perfect video, for me, one of the best I’ve seen. Thank you 🙌🏻
Thanks for the compliment!
Great video, well done
Thanks, Antony!
Lovely to see, thanks for sharing. Great photography, despite lost camera. We are based in the River Crouch, so these are our home waters.
Thank you, Cornilius. Yeah, the camera was lost on the way back in a wave in the North Sea, it had footage from the Deben and Orwell… The Crouch is still on our list.
Beautiful film. Enjoyed it a lot.
Very kind, thank you!
Love it ❤
Super cinematic.
Fair winds.
Thanks and fair winds, Luis. Good that your boat work is making nice progress!
Nice videography. The east coast is my back yard. Beautiful. With many cosy creeks. Lovely to see it filmed so well.
Thank you. The east coast is indeed a beautiful sailing area.
Fantastic, thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Andre!
I'm on my boat on the River Colne watching this. You've made our east coast rivers look as beautiful as they truly are. Very enjoyable video. 👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you Philip, that's a fine compliment. Unfortunately, we had no time left to visit the Colne and the rivers south of the Orwell - next time!
Thanks for sharing, a lovely boat 👌
Thank you, Sam. She is indeed, best Frisian handcraft. Enjoyed your video crossing from A'dam.
Fascinating and a beautifull though at times rough voyage to get there and back at this time of year, in a very well found boat and good seamanship.Thankyou.
Thanks for watching! Yes, it was indeed a short summer this year. But the east coast must be beautiful in later autumm also!
Lovely camera work. If you ever get back to Orford again pop into the King’s Head for a pint. Will keep a lookout for you😅
Thanks Nick. Sounds perfect!
It’s a shame you didn’t make it as far down as the crouch, beautiful place
Thanks, yeah, we regret that. Next time!
Beautiful film. You have captured ‘my’ part of the world perfectly. Also, your boat looks great, what is she?
Thanks. Oh yes, she's a beauty. Coelacanth is a "Hutting 40", a full keeler made of aluminium built in Friesland in the Netherlands. The design is by Dick Koopmans and Tjerk Hutting.
@@sy.coelacanth Dream Boat - congratulations & may you enjoy her for many years in good health.
Beautiful video..............If you manage to get up the Orwell again, have a drink in the Butt&Oyster at pin mill, very scenic

There is a beautiful walk from Woolverstone Marina to the Butt & Oyster...can highly recommend it !
You lost a camera overboard…? 🌊 😮
Hope it wasn’t too expensive…. 👌🏼
Yeah, it went into a wave, unfortunately. We already lost a drone during the last video. Our filming is getting expensive… Thanks for watching.
