    Thanks for the video, you peeked my interest on the topic of oats in soap. FYI, I make soap with oats!
    Soap maker for over 10 years here & I can tell you oats, coarse or superfine, do not rot in soap, (in my experience & research).
    As you know, soap is a salt, which we know preserves. Saponification is such a fierce process, that it effectively sterilises anything which is introduced into the batter, so we start from a good place. Mostly the only bits of the oat which remain as larger noticeable speckles in well made soap, are the larger bits of the bran & probably bits of the germ, the softer endosperm gets easily broken down & finely distributed throughout the soap. I use fine grade meshes when I seive my oats.
    Also remember from Covid days how soap lyses virus cells? The cell walls are broken down & the insides are then exposed & die. Bacteria (gram +VE & -VE ) are killed in the same way. Yes, some bacteria don't have cell walls, but approx 90% do. The combination of higher pH & salt environment kill most bacteria, viruses & fungal & are further prevented from growing.
    It's hotly debated online, with many opinions & lacking scientific knowledge. There's much conflation between soap & syndet bars, bar & liquid soaps & also standard & anti-bacterial soaps. I'd caution against a deep dive, unless you want to write a PHD on the subject!
    Apologies for grammar & typos, writing on the fly!

      Thanks for the juicy info! I feel like, regardless of scientific consensus, you’re the one who’s been doing it for ten years so I’ll take your word for it. What do you think about adding those sorts of things to melt and pour soap?

      @@SoapUniverse Aw bless you, thank you! 🤗 I'm not a melt & pour maker, so don't take my word for it, but my gut feeling is it's probably not a good idea.

    You might never get the roasting from soapers you want. Sure, we have our hot topics we argue pretty heatedly about, but the online soaper community in general is enthusiastic, supportive and encouraging. Damn us!

      It’s crazy the amount of effort some people put into their soap. I commend #2 for discovering a really cool technique and using it in the perfect way! That would also make a really cool, glacier-fracture soap as well.

    Still loving your videos! Thanks for posting❤
    I'd like to add to your frustration with the Dr squatched and others like Every Man Jack soaps. I was looking something up for a Reddit poster last week and came across the description in Every Man Jack soap. It stated many natural ingredients, ok. No harsh chemicals. 😂 wft is lye?! So dumb how us soap makers can't use specific terms like moisturizing, but stating no harsh chemicals when Sodium Hydroxide is one of the ingredients is ok??
    Since you're critiquing reddit soaps, you should post there too! Let us see your creations outside of your videos! I hope we get another video soon!
    Happy Holidays!

    • @SoapUniverse
      @SoapUniverse  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you! And I agree; they’ll make any statement they can get away with, as long as it encourages more sales 🙄. Also, what is their brand identity? All of their soaps look the same! Muted colours, little to no designs, no embellishments, and they all smell the same.
      And I know! Even though sodium hydroxide transforms into something else, it’s an ingredient and it serves a function in the soap. But this is probably what prompted Dr.Squatch to remove sodium hydroxide from their labels completely and replace it with “saponified oils” instead.
      As far as posting on Reddit goes, all the soaps I make are videos on this channel so I don’t really have anything else to show! I used to post my soap pictures on Reddit but kicked the habit once I started my channel. Maybe I’ll get back into it 😊

    I'm really excited to watch this i really wondered how beautifully crafted each soap bar. I loved the first and 3rd one. I enjoyed it and was interested to be a part of this soapmaking club. The soap you showed at the end remained the childh😂ood drawing like scribbles like piping the mayonnaise in an unknown way . Thank you for sharing with us ❤

    personally i might be a man and i do like "girly" soaps and soap that smells sweet and nice, but ive noticed it makes me hungry... n i do like the typically masculine smells as well my favourite being like this old man smelling perfumes, but also my mother had always used male perfume so those are just the smells i much more prefer over sweet smells, but fruity smells are great like grapefruit, rose, raspberry etc, generally musky or sour smells are my favourite :)

    • @SoapUniverse
      @SoapUniverse  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I have a sense that you probably gravitate more towards essential oil-type fragrances that are rawer, earthier and complex. Do you have any favourite musky or manly smells? Or perfumes? It's funny, because I can never bring myself to like musk! I use Old Spice deodorant, and that's about as musky as I can take it 😂

    While the layers on your latte soap are beautiful, the colour is boring, most of the latte art is not all that artful and you get additional minus points for not making a pumpkin spice latte soap (though I understand the decision, if the latte video is already underperforming… and I am also actually not a fan of most brown soaps… so… yeah…).
    Was that better in terms of roasting?
    Would love to see you try an ombre soap.
    Btw… I did not choose this youtube name… originally I had a different one, but Google decided that this one would suit me better and I am a bit miffed at that, but not annoyed enough to make an effort to change it :P

    • @SoapUniverse
      @SoapUniverse  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Lol! I was looking back at a comment you made earlier in the season while you were all excited about an upcoming pumpkin spice latte soap 👀
      An ombre soap is definitely in the cards! I think they look incredible but require a crazy amount of patience. What colours would you use if you made an ombre soap?
      Hahah, what would you have liked your TH-cam name to be?

    • @rebekkapr7726
      @rebekkapr7726 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @SoapUniverse because I like your videos and am looking forward to every single one of them. Even if I am not all that excited about brown soap, just the thought of getting another video has me excited! You said in this video that the story is a big thing for you when making soaps and I do not only agree, it is what I appreciate the most in your videos. I firmly believe you could make an interesting video about any soap bar, no matter what it looks like. You made a wonderful video about a plain white bar of soap... that is enough evidence for me
      Also, since you mentioned here, that the Latte soap video is not performing well, even though it is a gem, I wanted to take off pressure of you, should my last comment have made you feel like you have to do the pumpkin spice now, even though it might not be beneficial for your channel, or something you do not particularly feel like doing.

    I really love their bay rum scented soaps, but their shampoo and conditioner really sucked. The body wash is okay but it certainly isn't anything special. I'll probably keep getting the soap bars but that's it, I think.

      @flats6666 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@SoapUniverse I've tried a lot of their stuff, at least two of each of their "grit" level. I personally found that Fresh Falls was a really pleasant smell and that the pine tar one was enjoyable (it smelled like vick's vapor rub the first time but afterwards was GREAT). They really aren't all that moisturizing and, in my opinion, would probably kind of suck for anybody with dry skin. For the size, smells, and moisturization compared to the price.... not really worth it. But still probably a bit better than detergents? idk LOL
