Looks good. Two things that you might try next time, install a bucket level indicator so the pusher is level with the ground and the entire shoe rides on the ground and no down pressure.
Those pushers are so deep it's difficult to perceive by eye how the shoe is riding on the ground. You can push more (and steer somewhat better) if all 4 wheels remain on the ground. That is a really nice tractor and pusher combo you have there. :) You'll figure it out. Takes a little play time

If you regularly get that much snow a front mount blower would be better. It would cut your seat time by at least half and you probably wouldn’t run out of places to put it.

Using the float function will help with steering. Use it by moving the lever past the full down position.

I pushed for a couple hours today with my little BX2380 and SPL1060. Worked great with just the front steering chains, not sure I'll take the rear chains out of the bag. Pusher makes it possible to take all my snow over to my neighbors house, all in the spirit of giving.

About the only good advice I have for you is to "throttle up" lol, def a great video and good to see the tractor getting a workout. like the other 96% of your viewers, I'm in shorts today, going to rake some leaves up, we did have almost 2" of the white gold last Friday here in NWNJ, and it did stick to the pavement, but melted off in the afternoon.

Pushing power!!! I see you use the brakes for steering. I use them 50% of the driving time! I think they are meant for constant use, as they don't seem to see much wear after many years. At least on that old Case! One trick I can tell, when I scoop a windrow that is not centered on the pusher, I anticipate and begin the push by applying a slight amount of braking and will increase it as the piles grow unevenly in front of the pusher. This is to avoid the sudden major steer braking that will cause the other wheel to spin and lose traction. I bet the ballast in the wheels combined to the chains made you gain 2-3x the traction you had. Thanks!
BTW, we are in the mid-60s here all week long. Very unusual, but we will take advantage of it!

    • @AkDadStuff
      @AkDadStuff  4 ปีที่แล้ว

I know blowers aren't cheap, but with those kind of snowfalls you only touch the the snow once with a blower. No snow piles , blow it in the woods never to be seen again.

    • @AkDadStuff

hey Daniel I have been using float and I think that is the issue as the snow piles up it lifts the front of the tractor. I have started in future videos started not floating and it seems to keep the wheels on the ground. Thanks for watching

Great video. You got the snow i want! I have yet to get to use my new 68" rear blower. But I LOVE my 72" front snow pusher for my L2501, they are awesome. I have a video on a homemade $10 bucket level indicator that made a world of difference in my efficiency. I think you're bound to set a record on the snowpile contest this year.

    Hi Mike,
I don't quite understand why but I love snow moving videos! That is quite a bit of snow this early in the season! I have a few questions, if you find time...between your little "snow flurries" 😉. What were your deciding factors when you choose the snow pusher? What style of tire chains do you use? Would you make any changes to your setup if you were starting from scratch?
I ordered a B2601 with several attachments (one is a front mounted snowblower) and am praying that it is delivered b4 we get another good snow storm. We got 8"-9" about 3 weeks ago and had to use the walk-behind 😓. I chose the blower for the primary reasons that I hav a narrow driveway and don't have room to pile it up. I have to put it in the woods and yard.
Thanks for taking the time to make these videos, everything looks beautiful with all that white stuff around! What area of AK are you in? I live in the Idaho panhandle.

Heyhey Domenic here is a link to thae chains that I have. www.tirechain.com/Tire-Chains-Studded-Tractor.htm I don't think I would change much it has been great from day one. I would get a snowblower if I had the money. But thats another story. Thanks for watching

That pusher blade does a great job! I wonder if you can add weights to the front end? Might help with the steering. All I got besides a walk behind snow thrower is a Cub Cadet XT1 with a 46" blade. I found if I leave the mowing deck in place just that added weight allows me to steer better. Best Regards, Jay

The wife wants to know how a grown man can spend 20 minutes watching another grown man plow snow. I told her if she doesn't understand she never will. I love to plow snow and even after trying to explain it time after time you still get people telling you to buy a snow blower. I guess they mean well but them damn are very expensive plus if you did get one I guess some of them would tell you to buy a heated cab so the cold snow wouldn't blow back on your face so much. I live close to the Mackinaw Bridge in Michigan and our snow is on the way.

Snow blowers are very expensive, a lot more maintenance than a blade or pusher, don't work in all kinds of snow, especially the wet heavy stuff, but a great tool to have in your toolbox if you can afford it. They do solve the "where do I put all this?" problem very well.
