It was irritating. I also had some deleted text messages return.The texts finally disappeared early this morning. I intentionally didn't try to delete anything again in case they were recursively brought back. I'm still on the 6th-gen iPad Mini. In both the photos and texts mentioned, I'd long before fully deleted them from devices and iCloud.
@@cebixd7 WiFi Assist is supposed to work when the WiFi connection is poor. But in my case it happens even when the WiFi signal is strong. (I did turn this off, and I'll see what happens; thanks).
Once I got on 17.5.1 my 15 pro experiences overheating constantly. During FaceTime, regular calls, charging wirelessly and wired and more. It’s annoying, it gets extremely hot.

Noticeably worse battery life on my 13 pro max since 17.5.1. I’m all for security updates, but 17.5.x seems like mostly a waste of time (for the US phones) unless you really want a special wallpaper. As far as iOS 18 goes, if more pointless emojis and excessively invasive AI is what we have to look forward to, it might be time to look elsewhere. It really feels like the updates over the past year or two have just been 😴😴😴.
i am definitely experiencing a battery reporting bug since this update. all my devices display incorrect battery levels in my battery widget 90% of the time.
updating to ios 17.5 caused my cellular data to stop working entirely, saying “update is required to use cellular data” despite being on the most up to date version of IOS, the internet is devoid of answers or solutions and most just say wait for the next update. what a joke of a tech company, their software is always abysmal

I don’t care about holding the keyboard button or holding the screen to drop the cursor where I want it. Why does it drop the cursor 2 lines down and 3 words over every time unless I press and hold?

Iphone 11 pro max. Serious over heating on 17.5.1 , wifi dropping, notifications popping up asking to put in your password to icloud many many times, ridiculous! Some say just don’t download the updates then, but when you get the update it states all users should do it as it contains security updates, so damned if you do and damned if you don’t, a catch no doubt to make you buy the newest phone.

Siri gets too much of a bad rap, I run an entire smart home with Siri. Meanwhile Google Assistant on my Android phone won’t even recognize the command “Call X…” anymore.
I think the only reason that it doesn't is that publishers want to make more money selling you those books again as audiobooks and that Apple is afraid of lawsuits.
my battery it is better on ios 17.5.1 than any other version from 17 on my iphone 14 all the other versions i had bad battery, like a drop of 12-15% per hour, now is like 10% per hour
The AI stuff is cool, but I’m more hopeful of the improvements coming to the core apps such as Apple mail, Calendar, iMessage, Safari, Apple Notes, Reminders, etc.

@@theNimboo What bugs? We’re an Apple family with tons of Apple devices and really don’t have any bugs, our stuff pretty much works and when we do run into issues a restart (standard for any “computer”) fixes any wonky behavior.
Any idea if we might see a iOS 17.6 or 17.7 released before iOS 18 comes out? Several other TH-cam channels are already saying that iOS 17.5+ releases will start to trickle down. That anything we see before iOS comes out is most likely to be just bug fixes and security releases.

Okay I am very unhappy with Apple. They updated their iOS this week and now I have to reassign *all* of my contacts text tones since they separated the text and ringtones. Found this out today when I got a text from my father & his notifications tone changed to the “ ‘default’not in contacts” sound! I don’t really like any of the options in the Text Tone Category! I thought they had deleted those tones. But no just separated them, they won’t let you use them interchangeably anymore
I have no interest in having an iPad with macOS or a MacBook with a foldable touchscreen. I have always thought of Windows based laptops with touchscreens to be very unintuitive. Steve Jobs said it best at his Apple keynote presentation in January 2010 discussing the iPad and why touch-screens are not suitable for laptops.
I’m excited about iOS 18 and MacOS 15! Brandon, please note that Microsoft is, as usual being disingenuous in their marketing. 1) The MacBook Air is fanless, unlike Copilot PCs. 2) The Snapdragon Elite is their top processor and it lacks hardware encoders and hardware ray tracing, unlike even the base M3 chip, which has better GPU performance too. 3) The base M3 still blows away the top Elite in single core performance, the most common usage pattern. Try comparing to M3 Pro and Max, Microsoft. I would never trust Microsoft or Google with recording my screen and actions, ever. Not even comfortable with Apple doing that. Great videos man!

Brandon, I’ve noticed a bug that is becoming very irritating. At some point, Apple upgraded the calendar to allow for creating an event and giving travel time according to what form of transportation you’re using (walking, car, train, etc.) Great. However, older, previously scheduled events that allowed for travel time (or didn’t, still trying to figure out) are now notifying me that it is time to leave if I am walking. This means that events starting at, for example, 9am are notifying me at 6:30am to start walking. Is it just me?

17.5.1 in my mind only exposed a previous bug. I wonder if the photos were in the files app that uses the cloud, or the storage on the device? If it was folders in the cloud I wonder who has paid for larger storage due to deleted, or not deleted, photos. I am always suspicious on companies who keeps the story very vague to cover up something.

People can already run MacOS on iPads via remote desktop or cloud PC. Hence if the hardware is equivalent to macbooks then why not just provision some sort of MacOS experience or options natively as well as remotely? This is the simple logic as well as the equivalent price of Pro iPads to Macbooks so people would be motivated to just have one device for convenience and price and portability. Multi-modal is just a form of different input so there's absolutely nothing special about touch-focus if the software merely adapts to the input: Use type/point and then allow the familiar desktop design to be a function of the device. Again this is exactly what you get when you remote into another computer. This is usually left out when people mention macos on ipad, it's more a simple extension of what people already do and providing the extra options and reducing expense. For sure Apple wants to flog as many devices as possible but that's not sustainable in the long-term either economically for most people and environmentally either.

It does seem worse on my 12. I was getting at least halfway through the day but I hit 1 pm and it was already 40%.
Been great on my 15 Pro Max.

1:27 the Photos app need help finding duplicate and similar. The entire Mac OS and iOS needs to find dups data, then present it to users

Recall on windows has me considering moving to linux full time. I don't trust microsoft with my data.
A ton of Microsoft's moves led me to Linux years ago. I use a Win11 machine solely for work now (required, unfortunately).

14 pro max has been super slow, from animations/ performance to texting. The phone runs like crap and feels like you’re using a 5 year old phone… very bad performance for sure.
Since 17.5.1, Carplay has been broken for me

Since I updated to ios 17.5.1 on my iphone 13 my battery health dropped from 94% to 92 in less than 3 days my battery life sucks it keeps dropping after every 3mins its sucks when when will a new update be out

There’s a bug in the calendar app when you say yes to accept calendar appointments it works and then it sends you a notification and it didn’t work so yeah
Brandon, I’ve noticed a bug that is becoming very irritating. At some point, Apple upgraded the calendar to allow for creating an event and giving travel time according to what form of transportation you’re using (walking, car, train, etc.) Great. However, older, previously scheduled events that allowed for travel time (or didn’t, still trying to figure out) are now notifying me that it is time to leave if I am walking. This means that events starting at, for example, 9am are notifying me at 6:30am to start walking. Is it just me?
Maybe just you, I haven’t had that issue. The travel time feature has existed for a long time.

Wouldn’t want a foldable MacBook, but MacOS on iPad? I’d like that, or at least expanding iPadOS capabilities DRAMATICALLY and more than iOS-XL edition.
I’m guessing we won’t see any movement with the satellite messaging platform with iOS 18. All I hear is crickets chirping in that department. Nothing but more fluff coming this fall.
17.5.1 in my mind only exposed a previous bug. I wonder if the photos were in the files app that uses the cloud, or the storage on the device? If it was folders in the cloud I wonder who has paid for larger storage due to deleted, or not deleted, photos. I am always suspicious on companies who keeps the story very vague to cover up something.
After this update, my iMessage started deleting older messages. Even when I've per definition not to. This is really annoying Apple 😖😒

People can already run MacOS on iPads via remote desktop or cloud PC. Hence if the hardware is equivalent to macbooks then why not just provision some sort of MacOS experience or options natively as well as remotely? This is the simple logic as well as the equivalent price of Pro iPads to Macbooks so people would be motivated to just have one device for convenience and price and portability. Multi-modal is just a form of different input so there's absolutely nothing special about touch-focus if the software merely adapts to the input: Use type/point and then allow the familiar desktop design to be a function of the device. Again this is exactly what you get when you remote into another computer.
This is usually left out when people mention macos on ipad, it's more a simple extension of what people already do and providing the extra options and reducing expense. For sure Apple wants to flog as many devices as possible but that's not sustainable in the long-term either economically for most people and environmentally either.

58% faster than M3 MacBook Air? i HIGHLY doubt that will turn out to be even remotely accurate. I genuinely do not think Microsoft is capable of anything like this.

Every one I’m a curtains this update had me mad the secret is reset all settings it fixed the problems this update caused I created content and couldn’t do nothing but once I reset my settings on my 13 pro & my 15 pro max it came back to normal
