    I'm learning to crochet and we're making baby hats for children in the hospital. Thank you SO much for these clear, easy to follow instructions! Out of the couple of hats I've managed to do already this one is by far the best looking one I've finished!

    To all absolute beginners, do not dislike this video because it’s too “hard” or “fast”!!!! I only started crochet yesterday because I wanted to make hats for charity. This video was going “fast” so I got frustrated and disliked it. But common sense hit me and I decided to watch a video explaining some of the crochet vocabulary like slip knot, chain, slip stitch, single crochet, etc. (I watched only 2 videos of Made With Love by Glama). Then, I did happyberry’s baby hat. I suggest using her video if you’re a beginner because her hand and finger movements, and what she does to the yarn can be clearly seen. But when I was done, it seemed too airy and wide for my taste so I decided to do this next. I changed the play speed to 0.75 and I followed along very easily and quickly. I used Red Heart’s medium (4) acrylic yarn and a USH8/5.00 MM Susan Bates aluminum hook. The hat only took less than 2 hours and I barely have any crochet experience. Changed my dislike into a like immediately and felt very sorry that my idiotic and ignorant self disliked this wonderful video at first.

      Anika its not that its hard or too fast. Just for beginners its difficult. I did my first hat with this video and after watching some other videos I realized this wasn't a good one to start off with.

    Great video and pattern for high beginners. I see in the comments that true beginners find this difficult. They need to start with the basics, learn the vocabulary and practice on a single crochet rectangular pattern like a dishcloth or scarf.

    I just finished this in a couple of nights. I’m an absolute beginner and started a granny square blanket for my baby that is due in a month. It will NOT be done in time so I chose this hat to have something completed. Even as a lefty this was easy to follow. I used chunky soft yarn so the beginning was hard to see and looks lumpy. Still very proud. Thanks for showing us!! PS - did you know the dollar tree sells yarn?!

    This is great, but I don't understand the pattern, when it's written round 4 size 3-4 pounds only, does that mean that the other sizes would continue with what the last round was? It skips from round 3 to round 6 for the larger hat instructions. Do I need to keep increasing until round 6? Thanks!

    • @TheCrochetCrowd
      @TheCrochetCrowd  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know what size you are working on. After Rnd 3, you will continue to the size you are doing. If you are not doing the 3-4 lbs size, skip the instruction as it states 3-4lbs only. If you are not doing that size, skip to the next instructions Sizes 5- 6lbs, 7 - 9 and 10-12 lbs instruction. Follow what the paragraphs are saying of which size it's focused on. Skip the instructions where it states ONLY if you are not doing that size, it doesn't apply to you.

      There's a link to the Yarnspiration website in the description box where he got the pattern.
      I recommend printing it and putting it in a binder sheet so that you can mark the rows as you go with a whiteboard/dry erase marker. It has been very helpful to me to do it that way :)

    Loved your tutorial. I make Amigurumis and even through I know and work the correct increase process, with a Magic Circle, I find that my first 3 rounds are puckered and the work does not lay flat. I've tried not carrying the tail so that there's less thickness in those first rounds, but that hasn't made a difference. I've tried working a little loser, but that hasn't helped. The work still has a pucker and somewhat torpedo shape.
    I'm at my wits end. Can you suggest something please ? Thank you in advance. Ginny

    • @gamecrusher2024

      4.5mm is sometimes listed as a #7 Crochet Hook. Also, depending on your tension, I would try both the 4.25 (G) and the 5.00 (H), and see which measurement is closest to the size that you wish to make.

      I know it’s 2 years late, but Melanie Ham does a great newborn hat tutorial and it ends up looking very similar to this hat!

    It's kind of annoying when people say that he's going to fast because no offence but not all of us a beginner's and there are so many beginner friendly videos out there where they go so slow and so it's nice to actually see videos that are not painfully slow for us that know how to crochet
