On my first rewatch since I watched the end live on Nickelodeon I was actually shocked to see Toph was nowhere to be found. I remembered she wasn't always part of the gang, but I did not remember being that far into Book 2 by the time we meet her.
its mostly of toph popularity. Most reactors already know the popular characters of this kind of big shows . also her introduction ep is a very solid ep.
One of the most underrated but genius parts of this show is how they portray Momo and Appa just being good buddies. There's a lot of moments in season 2 especially that show them bickering, playing or laughing together, sharing stories and a bunch of other really adorable reactions and that's what makes Momo's slice of Tales of Ba Sing Se such a gut punch because up until that point the main goal for everyone has been to try and find Appa and we see how that affects Aang, Katara, Sokka and Toph, but it was a stellar decision to show that Appa being gone has had a profound effect on Momo as well. It's really a testament to the show's quality that they made the animal companion characters who have no spoken dialogue (outside of the season 3 episode that takes place in a dream sequence) such deep and well-explored characters and managed to really make them feel like fundamental and essential parts of the team.
Your reactions to this season are some of my favorites. And now, I can binge them all in one video. Thank you so much! If book one was great, book two is just incredible, the story gets really picks up and Azula and Toph really elevated the show to another level.
@@thusnameddigital9397 Toph is a great character, but Azula is actually the core reason why B2 is so much better, the whole Empire strikes back feeling with far mores dangerous + competent villains was the gamechanger that turned ATLA from great Western Animation to arguably greatest Western Animation.

Fun Fact, the woman that Voices Princess Azula ALSO Voices Sam in Danny Phantom, so that’s pretty cool and something I didn’t know until yesterday lol 😂
Funner fact: she also voices in damn near every animated kids tv show - scooby doo, grim adventures of bill and mandy, fairly odd parents, foster's home for imaginary kids, samurai jack, johnny bravo, generator rex - and that's like half the list of TV shows alone, not even talkin about VAing in movies. Also pretty sure she voices Monster Girl in Invincible
You mean Grey Delisle (Azula) voices half of all female cartoon characters and quite a few male ones, the other half being Tara Strong. If anyone ever says they had a crush on a female toon character, or something like "she shaped my taste in women", they are literally saying they had a crush on just those two women, multiple times.
@@JenkemWatchman She does, and Shrinking Rae, and a few side characters. She typically plays multiple people in any project, even here she plays the girl who bullied Toph for her makeup and Katara and Sokka's mother.

Cannot believe one of y'all made a totally correct theory immediately after the episode finished SPOILERS Zuko's mom killed Azulon to put Ozai on the throne
Bumi's a megachad king. HE probably could have defeated the fire nation forces. But let himself get captured since people on both sides would have died en mass in a battle.
I remember when I watched this as a teen, Toph was my favorite and I was so obsessed with her character I styled my hair like her and made my family call me Toph lol Also you know what appa in the circus reminds me of and I barely connect it now. I doubt it for a few readons. 1. The sandbenders had taken Appa, Aang's spirit animal, something close & personal to Aang 2. Aang wasn't just upset over Appa, he was exhausted, hungry, thursty & suffering from the heat. Meaning he was already prime for acting out of character. 3. Aang is a pacifist due to being raised by the monks, his entire belief system would've been against him taking a life, under level-headed situations, even Ozai's.
@@badboyluvr Nah he came pretty close in the finale. Had he already killed someone before, thus renouncing pacifism, he would've smoked Ozai three minutes in when he caught that lightning.

@@badboyluvr if Aang would’ve killed the sandbenders there he would be a drastically different character by the finale. He was only able to defeat ozai in his own way because he was steadfast and strong in his belief system despite all outside influences telling him he was wrong. A post killing spree Aang would have to view the world through different eyes… if anybody was worth killing it would have been on ozai. It would be hypocritical to kill over Appa but not kill on behalf of all of the earth kingdom citizens Ozai was actively trying to wipe out. Bonus points if he realized that Monk Gyatsu killed a bunch of fire nation soldiers.
I’m still convinced there would not have been so much shit that hit the fan if Sokka had stayed instead of Katara. I know there’s a few factors of why it went so horribly, but I still blame Katara more than anything else. Still seething with rage that she even suggested removing Zuko scar.
