Ferris Wheel Bird Feeder

  • I bought a bike from a garage sale for $10 and used the front wheel for the bird feeder.
8 bolts and some scrap wood later it was finished.
It stood empty for a few days until the birds found it. I used finch feed.
It is quite hysterical to watch the birds when they start spinning on it. Sometimes they end up sideways trying to balance.
    Enjoy the show

That's a great idea. Like you said smaller rim & a few bolts sticking out of It.. Although Bolts may be too slippery for their claws to get a grip on? Dowelling could be attached easy enough..

we have hundreds of finches living here. Starlings too. My husband has a ritual to call them to the feeder. He first chirps, then rings the chimes and takes a red solo cup with the feed in it out to the wheels. our desert is very windy, birds know how to balance. we get a variety of hawks that hide under the hedge to catch the little guys. A huge pine tree is nearby that the little ones hide in. The owls dive bomb the tree to catch little ones for their young. Just nature.

Hi! K.C., here. This video is magical. Looks like it's been here for quite some time, and still generating a lot of interest. Way to go!! I did go and look at your construction video, as well. Beautiful...wish I had your workshop, but maybe I can make one with some adjustments. Sorry about the PETA person who left a nasty comment. My daughter and I are very active in animal rescue, fostering and finding animals their "forever homes". Our house is like a zoo, but we love all of the babies and doing what we can to better their lives. There always seems to be some critter that needs a helping hand, whether it is a dog, cat, puppy, kitten, bird, owl, hawk, squirrel, opossum, turtle, etc....You seem to be giving the birds seed at your expense and saving them from trying to find their next meals. Shame on that PETA person saying that you were, "prostituting the birds" and thank you for your kindness. Keep up the good work. BTW, where are you located? I've never seen these beautiful birds here in S.E. Louisiana....

MJ Remy - and what makes you the expert? I look at it like the free market society for birds. If they didn’t like the food or the ride here they are all welcome to shop somewhere else. Yet, here they are. Seems you have been proven wrong by the very birds you pretend to represent!
