Dnegs, I (and I think i speak for more) would love to see one episode after the last WSOP day. In this day you could talk about the 25K prop bets, who won and who lost. I think that would be a nice way to end the season. Just some idea for down the line. For now, keep doing what you do best buddy and lets get some W!
This tournament and ONLY this tournament is the exception to my constant criticism of the media attention squandered on min-size, celebrity Tinkerbelle tournaments. With nine games and 100 minute levels this is a true test of champions regardless if it has less than eight dozen entrants.
Chidwick had the best line on stream. Jared asked Phil what he’d started with, and Phil replied “A96 of diamonds”. Jared said he didn’t believe him and Phil, slightly irritated, said “I don’t lie on stream. You can look back. I’ve never lied on stream” At which point Chidwick, in the manner of someone who hated the Rio, chimed in, in a bitter tone “You lied when you said you’d burn the Rio down.” Good luck today DNegs.
I can understand why the conversation about female players fires up every year but I'm kinda in the same boat of, "I don't see the problem here". Is the argument that the vastly male field doesn't make it accommodating or welcoming for female players? I find that hard to believe, especially in the more well-run tournaments and venues. The skill gap doesn't even seem like a good excuse because as we see in this vlog, plenty of people with money who barely know thing-one about poker buy in and play. If you've got the money, you can play. Women don't, in large numbers. So maybe it's just that women aren't as interested in poker (at this level) and we shouldn't be asking to force something that isn't there. If there IS a problem, then yes, more accommodation CAN be made, because more players and bigger fields is better for the game. I'm just not seeing the problem, if it exists.
My Cambodian friend says his family worships the deity of the donut. They hula hoop before breakfast to burn off calories to taste the delicious sugary condiments lined up for tasting. Clearly a people born of the dough, raised to honour the circle of eternity. Plagued by dark history now on quest to serve temporary joy to the people. Nah but it's funny that you think that it's their genes or something rather than the community and sharing culture. Sharing suppliers to bring good deals, methods of running a shop and probably getting loans from some local businessman. Someone who can trust in their abilities to work hard either from blind trust or perhaps other reasons. Could be a mafia ring for all I know where the shop keepers get extorted by the Cambodian mob who are threatening their families in the homeland or something... You never know I guess.
You didn't say anything bad Daniel. Your comments were just plain common sense. People are different and it's not only OK it's wonderful. Men and women for example have this "sexual dimorphism" as an evolutionary advantage. Women* are fantastic at some things men* suck at, and vice versa. But there is a TON of overlap in our abilities as well. The healthy cooperation of men and women makes both happier and healthier. It's truly sad that people take beautiful wonderful differences and make them reason to fight and argue. PS - Asterisk(*) denotes a reference to men/women in general, specific individuals can vary widely and that's awesome too.
Sometimes disparities reveal unfair treatment, is the reason to care. If more women would like to play poker, but are met with a hostile or unwelcoming environment, that's a problem. Maybe Black Canadians/Americans don't like playing hockey, maybe Black hockey players have been discouraged because of racism. Concerns over possible discrimination in sports and gaming cultures is not really akin to refugee communities exceling in particular types of businesses, or romance novels. In fact, dismissing such concerns as the mere result of personal preferences can serve to naturalize or normalize potentially unfair practices. Not that you were doing that - just trying to answer your question.
I think we should care about the low number of women in poker if the reason for that is the toxicity of the player base towards women. For the same reason we should care about "girls who code" or girls in gaming, the problem is very likely caused by a general cultural hostility towards women in those arenas that aggressively dissuades them from wanting to spend time in those pursuits.

Poker as a game is the purest form of capitalism. In poker, a persons race, gender, sexuality, or any other segmented demographic doesnt matter. Which is why Maria Ho, Phil Ivey, Jason Somerville, Johnny Chan, Kristen Foxen, and others are some of the best in the game and why people look up to them as a role model (old school Johnny Chan).
I think the argument for women in poker not being a higher percentage is that for a group where every person has the same access why is there an imbalance? Is it because there's something causing that group to not want to participate. Your comparison to romance novels is great, all people have access to it, and other than the cultural stigma of men being interested in romance novels there's not really a lot of other reasons for the heavy imbalance. As someone part of an industry with an imbalance due to actual misogyny (software engineer), there is a validity to asking why there's an imbalance. The answer doesn't always have to be misogyny though.
I think you're mostly right about women in poker, however it's important to bear in mind that, as well as men and women just being different, there may also be some barriers to entry that stop some women from going hard with it, who otherwise might have. I don’t think you said anything bad about the gender stuff, but I think you’re missing the point. It’s more an issue that women aren’t feeling / being included at the same rate men are in poker. It becomes an exclusive “boys club” kinda thing.
Female player here. I don’t care about ladies events ect. I have played them, it is a different game for sure but that’s about it. My only small issue being a female player is at times I will be told that females should not be at the table. This usually comes from the older generation so I just let it go. There is more positive energy towards female players then not. Love your vlogs dude 👍
I was refreshing my updates every few minutes last night. When i woke up i checked in and said, "good ole dnegs!" Haha. Let's go bro. Big day today! Let's get a bunch of those nice blue chips.
I think the gender issue is that there are a lot of guys who play poker that are shitheads and make women uncomfortable. No woman wants to be sexualized while they're trying to gamble. That's my problem I think, not that your perspective is wrong I just think you failed to mention this fact.
About the donut thing, there is a documentary about that. Basically one guy from Cambodia come to LA opened a donut shop realized how profitable it was and he would sell his knowledge of how to open a shop like his to others in his community, help them fund it and a portion of the profits. Pretty interesting documentary. In the long run though he lost everything to gambling.

What if Phil has been grease marking cards all these years? 😂
The older players r just rude and mad at the world in general.
@@themannodoubt8657 lol that could be it also
Phil eats like an animal. Need a compilation of his greatest scarfs.
The beef sammitch clip with the announcer booth reaction was the best ever
Erik Lindgren knows plenty about sports betting
There's actually a netflix special on the cambodian donut game.
Jared was so great love him! Man would love to hear more stories and convos of you, Gus, and Phil.
Jared Bleznick caring more about hockey then Daniel. 'DAMN DANIEL" its time to come back and live in Canada for a bit lol.
Cambodian donuts for the win!!!
Not only watching this but at night I check the leader boards 🎉
90% of donut shops everywhere are Vietnamese or Cambodian even here in Tx
How does Hellmuth's wife put up with him? Lol
I was refreshing my updates every few minutes last night. When i woke up i checked in and said, "good ole dnegs!" Haha. Let's go bro. Big day today! Let's get a bunch of those nice blue chips.
Donut shops.........Daniel you crack me up......LMAO
"You can't be all loosey goosey eating a sandwich at the table" 😂😂
someone should make a painting of you guss and phil sitting on the rail. that would be an instant classic
Is it me or does Jared sound like Phil Laak with a Bleznick mask on? Lol😂
Daniel's Canadian is showing, conducting a donut shop analysis! lol
Heard the outro live this morning on poker go as you guys were still playing when I woke up in the UK.
I had no idea you were from the Caucasus mountain region.
I think the gender issue is that there are a lot of guys who play poker that are shitheads and make women uncomfortable. No woman wants to be sexualized while they're trying to gamble. That's my problem I think, not that your perspective is wrong I just think you failed to mention this fact.
So happy to see you playing well and getting rewarded for it. The stream was awesome last night on pokerGo! Let’s win this one DNegs!
Is there a barrier for me to get into the donut shop game? This is the pressing issue. 😂😂😂
Watched the second feature table as Hellmuth bled out last night and stayed on until bags. Running hot!
I agree we are all difficult! If you want to play with the big boys do it! ❤
DANIEL HAS MOVED INTO 4TH PLACE OUT OF 22!!! UPDATE AT 7:08 MTN TIME!!
107 degrees outside Hellmuth has 2 jackets on
They’re not playing outside lol
About the donut thing, there is a documentary about that. Basically one guy from Cambodia come to LA opened a donut shop realized how profitable it was and he would sell his knowledge of how to open a shop like his to others in his community, help them fund it and a portion of the profits. Pretty interesting documentary. In the long run though he lost everything to gambling.
It's called The Donut King
Hellmuth eating and his other antics are just priceless!
