To mark the 75th anniversary of VE day, in these unprecedented times, the BBC and the Royal British Legion honour and celebrate the Second World War generation with an evening of memories and music.
Featuring some of those who remember this historic day, and some of Britain’s favourite performers, including Katherine Jenkins, Adrian Lester, Anton Du Beke, Beverley Knight, Helen George, Sharon D Clarke, Shane Richie and Emma Barton, entertaining us with popular songs of the era.
In a fitting finale at 9pm, the nation is asked to unite for a very special rendition of We’ll Meet Again as a gesture of thanks to our veterans and in memory of our loved ones.

The dancers are Aljaz Skorjanac and Janette Manrara. They are married and live together. They have for quite a few years now. Look it up. That's probably why they were chosen. They were the only Strictly Professional real life couple so they only dancers who could do it.

@@innovatorb1591 I'm talking about Anton, silly. I attend his online fitness and dance classes on his TH-cam channel. He's a lot of fun to have as an instructor, and he really knows his stuff when it comes to both dancing and exercise!

That's not social distancing
They probably spent months rehearsing so they can be in the same room. Also they themselves said directly after the performance on telly that the dancers are married.
The only 2 not social distancing are married, so they can be dancing together.

The woman on the programme said right after they finished dancing that Janette and Aljaz are married and live together so that is why they were the only ones not social distancing. It really was crystal clear!
Not suited for the time though the song is catchy only reminds of the irony of the song and how we can't " put on a Ritz"

@Julie Newman i know what era the song is from, i was just wondering why they use some random song when there are so many that are actually associated with WWII that seem like much more obvious choices
Well it's a song from the era and it's a nice addition to the programme. It's also really cheerful which lifts peoples spirits during this time
Great to see alijaz and janette performing, but not sure anton singing can compare with their dancing, he's no brucie.
Aw now i thought he was rather good considering he's a dancer not a singer. However Brucie was some guy ❤️
@@muranichanain6027 You both need to check out his new album. Trust me, he CAN sing. He does it for us all the time in his new online fitness classes, and we adore him for it!
I think he sings really well, but the one who really surprised me was Adrian Lester.
