I enjoyed the parts where Layi started interviewing the interviewer. The interviewer kept pushing Laye to speak on things he was uncomfortable with. Is this his style, or is he still learning? Layi was graceful in response. Lastly, the put downs from the interviewer were not necessary. Layi is amazing! He clearly has a lot of depth. I hope he continues to "blow". I also hope the interviewer understands everyone has their path! Best wishes.
I have watched 2 of your podcast now. And my honest feedback, no shades intended. I think you need to do better with how you structure your questions and also you need to improve your follow up questions as well. Because from what I have seen, it seems you have some questions in mind but if your guests doesn’t follow the pattern of response you have in mind, it throws you off and leads to lots of awkward silence.
How are you sure the awkward silence wasn’t intended , how are you sure they do or do not answer his question in mind ? Tbvh just enjoy the show, don’t over think it .

Actually, a linguist is a person who studies languages. A linguistic doesn’t necessarily have to be proficient in a language to study it. Linguists seem to be good speakers of the English language in English speaking countries, because in those countries, the English language will be the medium with which the subject will be taught. However, students who study linguistics in French speaking countries may not turn out to competent English speakers because the medium of learning will be French. So, linguistics is definitely not the study of speaking the English language correctly. Common misconception sha, I know but I wish people know this and stop expecting too much big big English from linguists, lol
