Wish I had gotten to tour this dam while it was still open. I went through the Wilson Dam powerhouse a few times as a child in the 80s. Now both the powerhouse and lock are closed to the public.
+sharkheadism yeah I miss the tours they used to have too. Especially the one at the Raccoon Mtn. Pumped Storage Facility. I have a video of that place too, just not the elevator ride down or anything downstairs.
+sharkheadism going through the locks hasn't been bad. You have to call ahead and get in the schedule and be worked around the barges. It's a big hassle but doable
+sharkheadism gotcha. You can get close to both sides but then you have some 1984 homeland security gates and fences to lock off the rest. I don't think that will change anytime soon. :(

I heard on the news that TVA was going to reopen a few locks to visitors. I think Watts Bar was one of them.

Oh--I meant for people not on boats. Just to walk around & watch barges lock through.

They lease UP power for certain lines for the NS rails
