A kitlist in each section helps massively, a4 plastic sleeve to protect it.
You can note expiry dates etc ahead of time and know everythings fine without having to unpack it just by checking the sheet.

I spoke with a 3 season hiker once who said he has 3 separate support pouches for each season. Naturally you would want to check & recheck the contents before every use but in reality it is a grab & go situation. For winter, warmth, shelter & food are your priorities so an additional pouch is invaluable. However in reducing weight & bulk you have the means to means to move faster in an emergency.

@@jackburton9460 Murphy's Law happens when you least expect it. When I have travelled the hottest day can become the coldest nights. We learned in the forces your core temperature changes when you sweat & get cold. Change of socks, underwear, spare t-shirt & a light packable jacket make a huge difference in your comfort.

My pantry and kitchen cabinets are full so I've been putting random foods in plastic bins and large boxes. I bought a handfull of P38s and taped one inside each box and bin. If I give a box of food away, there will be a can opener to go with it.

Great exercise to reduce weight and restock. BTW, I love my nano twig stove! But, I think Firebox now has a much less expensive stove just for bug out bag uses if anyone is looking for a cheaper option that is still USA made and great quality.

Instead of a flare gun. I use a 1-watt blue laser. Much more visible from much longer distances. And the laser can be used for self-defense and starting fires.

I use the same exact style BOB. Mine is made by Fox Tactical. Love it! As for the flare gun. It makes a great offensive weapon. Have you ever shot one into a dwelling or vehicle? There will be lawlessness situations where you just may need to. So dont unpack it and put it too far away.

Wet ones if dry can be rehydrated and work perfectly fine. I use Clorox wipes for hobo showers and to keep certain areas from developing or curing fungus. Clorox wipes kill jock itch very very fast.

I have a pair of those binoculars, mine are Bushnell. They are great little binoculars. Got them for 10dollars at a garage sale. As far as the knife, I have a couple of DIY knives that I got from Pathfinder knife shop. I built my own scales . Awesome knives, Scandinavia grind. I don’t think they’re selling the DIY kits anymore, damn. Very similar to your Ukraine knife. And honestly I think they are better. You can get the same knives all put together, and they are pricey. But very well made. Thanks for the video, very informative.

AMAZINGLY! the human body ONLY needs 4 very simple things to survive and live. Recently I've learned the phrase, "The 4 absolutes to human survival" and this is what these 4 simple things are. 1- AIR, 2- The ability to regulate your core body temperature, 3- WATER and 4- FOOD. Also, notice the "Rules of 3" packed in there and the order too. I mention this because right at the end you mention that for short term, you basically just need a place to sleep a fire, water and food which is the basis of surviving. Granted, having some extra water, food, gear and skill sets will make surviving much easier for those who have said items and skills. I try to remember 4 sayings when i approach preparedness or going off to camp, bushcraft or even take a simple everyday or long trip. 1- THE 4 ABSOLUTES OF HUMAN SURVIVAL, 2- THE 10- C's OF SURVIVABILITY, 3- THE 7 PRINCIPALS OF SURVIVAL (1-shelter 2-fire 3-water 4-food 5-medical 6-signaling 7-navigation) and 4- THE RULES OF 3. With a little thought and planning we should be ready for most anything! Keep up the great work here and thanks, now i need to go through my stuff and see what has expired and dried out too! Be well!

BLACKHAWK makes a smaller medical roll with vinyl pockets which should work better if you want a first aid roll for that bag. I would add the collapsable G.I. 5qt canteen so you can carry more water. You can tie it outside of the bag when full. Especially since you are in the desert, you need more water capacity.

@@Iridium242 Also, with a ferro rod, you'll need to keep it dry. Believe it or not, it does rust. The magnesium inside the ferro rod will disintergrate into a messy gray powder leaving it with pits (holes). I lost a few. The steel striker of the flint and steel will rust but once cleaned can be used all over again.

Sure you want to take out the extra can opener? How does the saying go? Two is One, and One is None. I know weight is an issue, but those can openers are so small. What if you need to use it, and forget to put it away when your done with it? Do you want to have to go without or go back looking for it where you last used it? Plus in a TSHTF situation an extra could be a somewhat handy barter item depending on the situation.
