      @@HueyLionsheart I've brought several 'Record No.0s & No.00s' from the UK, but the postage is about 4 times the cost of the item!!! ...I have 8 No.0s & only a couple of No.00s ...I have a soft spot for 'Record Vices ...also I have a No.6 on my woodworkers work bench and at the other end is my 'Record No.52 Woodworkers Work Bench Vice' ...would love to get the "Record Display Stand' one day!

      @@peterstevens6555 They do tend to be good sturdy vices and I'm always on the lookout for neglected ones at affordable prices. ( I can only imagine the shipping on some of these beasties!) I more recently was gifted an unloved Record No. 110 ( I believe it is much older than the usual ones I happen across) which I also video'd a rebuild of and that looked so much different after a clean up and repaint. I do have a No.52 woodworker to do at some point and also a No.2 engineers too! Hope you get the display stand, would love to see that!👍😁

    Hi Huey, Great restoration. About 18 months ago a neighbour was clearing out and old garage and in the skip was a Record No 3 attached to a piece of old kitchen worktop. They said I could have it if I wanted it. It wasn't in as bad a condition as yours but was great fun bringing back to former glory. It serves me very well, and it was FREE!!! Really enjoyed this video. Take care mate. Cheers, Huw

    • @HueyLionsheart
      @HueyLionsheart  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Huw! The No.3 is a nice sized vice that if you have to buy can cost a few quid, so to get one for free is brilliant, I bet you've found it invaluable in that time. My other 2 mechanics/engineer style vices are both No.2 and although incredibly handy just not quite big enough for some of the stuff I do. And then there's the woodworkers vice I have....another Record and it's a BEAST! I'll do a clean up and overhaul on that one at a later date too. Thanks for checking it out mate. 😁👍

    Funny, I was recently thinking I should restore my old vice like yours, has a nini anvil built in too. I'm no metal worker though... Curious why the need fo the spring? Also the handle on mine is bent, any ideas how I could straighten it?

    • @HueyLionsheart
      @HueyLionsheart  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for checking it out, I'd definitely recommend at least a strip for maintenance, clean and regrease. The handle could be straightened very easily if you have access to some oxy acetylene to heat it and gently bend back to shape. Otherwise it's trial and error with a hammer and block. Worst case scenario, use a grinder to cut it off and replace with a piece of Bright Drawn Mild steel with a collar at each end. Good luck with it if you go down the path of restoration, would be great to see how you get on! 👍😁

    • @HueyLionsheart

    I don’t know about the vice but your cold chisel definitely needs that mushroomed end taken off before someone gets a chunk of steel coming off and embedding itself in their face

    • @HueyLionsheart
      @HueyLionsheart  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're absolutely right! I have absolutely used that chisel for allsorts over the years and become that used to it that just didn't realise exactly how beat up it had become. Next time I get chance to get into my shop(Not that often with my fulltime job and small family) I'll get the angle grinder on it and give that mushroom a trim and return the clean chamfers to it. 👍. Thanks for checking my video out and the valuable safety check too. It's very much appreciated. 👍😁
