When you consider that Carl was just a guy, a fairly normal Brit, with a normal job and a family, who felt compelled to start to fight against the lunacy of what he saw happening around him, it’s astonishing that he has become one of the leading voices in the fight for reason in liberalism. I’m a big fan.

We are under stress we are in an interregnum. Political strategists from both parties have mentioned it. It is the largest political demographics change since the civil war, one of the biggest in our history. They feel like the world is ending , and is stressful, but it isn't.

I think they´ve misunderstood that you are sad about the situation, but that doesn´t mean you don´t have the resolve to defend your beliefs. I wish you well.

It's so interesting to see someone with no academic background reach this point, because it's a hell of a lot less formulaic than someone talking about their field of study. OMG it's so annoying! Its like the difference between the solid family man who works hard, is going gray and is tired vs. the well-designed, sexy hollywood man with the nice cars, homes, party lifestyle and model-of-the-week hanging off his arm. Its obvious why he is more attractive and alluring than home dad, but he's also empty, shallow, self-destructive and ultimately meaningless in the end. Yet we always gravitate towards him by default, because of our biology, our own selfish desires, etc.
It takes time and experience to gain the wisdom to recognize what's really important and what really works. So frustrating!

That was the bad influence/consequence of religion. It worked great to get us to this point in many ways, but it was also clearly flawed and easily undermined. If you take away the importance of religion as THE core social fabric of a society, the conservative values just feel aimless. We can tell those are good values, but no one can properly explain why and how. We have a lot of stuff to work if we want to fix this. Articulating these values in a better way is certainly top priority.

I think what he's describing is the hijacking of Liberalism by Socialists, at a time when the so called Liberals didn't know what the hell they were talking about anymore. Gone are the days when a Jefferson or a Franklin can clearly articulate what equality means in the Liberal context. Carl has basically succumbed to the Socialist lie that equality means we all start at the same starting line, and I KNOW for a fact that he has read Milton Friedman and understands the fallacy in that statement, so I'm not sure what happened for Carl to change his mind, but he's entitled to his opinion regardless of how wrong I think it is.

I was a pretty radical leftist until about 7 years ago. It didn't take much for me to completely flip to the right, after witnessing the insanity on the left. I used to argue with conservatives & they were always very patient with me. I realized I didnt know what I was talking about. It was embarrassing, sure; but I was so self-righteous; & I was handed my ass by sensible, rational people. I'm grateful for that. Plus, I've always had a strong faith in God, though I was loose with my interpretation then. The left doesn't seem to tolerate Christ. That was a deal-breaker for me. I think that's the core of ALL the problems we face now. I believe we're in a spiritual battle, so its not even a question of left vs. right; but evil vs. good. It just so happens that those who face the truth of our situation & have the guts to do something about it are mostly on the right & people of faith. I believe my awakening was a gift from God. I truly believe we're being called to put our faith into action now.

How many wars, blights, plagues, wildfires, floods, hurricanes & moral disasters does it take to convince people to come to Jesus??!! He's not gonna interfere with our free will; we have to choose, but what's it gonna take? Do you think covid is the pale horseman?

    • @Kayem237
      @Kayem237 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@marymitchell4617 An argument could be made that wars and natural disasters have always been happening. But I'm referring to something far more significant. There's a reason that it's called 'Babylon the Great' in Revelations, that is because it's attempting to call up the image of Babylon, an extremely religious nation. So consider what the 'Scarlet colored wild beast' that destroys 'Babylon the Great' is, also consider the symbolism of great beasts from Daniel's prophecy. There are a hell of a lot of things that have already happened, a TH-cam comment isn't really the appropriate format to go into an in-depth discussion about symbolism and potential meanings. But suffice it to say, that assuming that the Book of Revelations is real, I believe the seven horns were blown in the early 1900s, and the seventh bowl is actively being poured out right now as there is most certainly an army being gathered to fight God.
I don't think COVID is the pale horseman. I wouldn't even say that anything in Revelations is directly symbolized by COVID, but there is a relationship to something else. There's something in Revelations that says that people will not be able to buy, sell, or trade unless they carry it. Again, I do not believe that COVID is this thing, but the reaction to COVID is just a of what that thing is. I would define what I'm referencing to be, 'The willingness to put the world of man above God.' The response to COVID was just one example of such a thing.

What Carl was describing here is what I have called 'the politics of nice.' I've written an article on it. The politics of nice is what the Democrats do to win over people who vote mostly with feelings and not with principle. Everything they suggest sounds very nice. We're going to help the marginalized. We're going to help the poor. We're going to help the people of color. We're going to help the oppressed. We're going to help the gays and Trans because they're marginalized. All of these lies are done because they want to stitch together Coalition of minorities to oppose the normal majority. The Republicans have yet to learn they need to label things in the same way.

Those with more knowledge may know better but the average politically unplugged person doesn’t, so to them, opposing the left is basically the same thing as being overtly evil. Like opposing equality and justice and whatnot.
Cons need to learn to market their ideas like the Dems, to make them appealing, simple, and easy to understand on a surface level so that Dems don’t have a monopoly on perception.
Right now, conservatism is synonymous with ass backward racists who just want to oppress black peoples and force women to make them sandwiches. It’s like that because Cons suck ass at portraying their ideas well, and the Dems have mastered it.

I also think that a hands off approach to Ana is the best thing. I've become increasingly convinced that fighting to win over people through debate is ineffective against people who have been ideologically captured. I don't think you can take someone that's a hardcore left leaning progressive for years and unravel that mess in their heads. I think you sort of have to let them live the consequences of their ideology.
Moving out of these hellscape cities is powerful for 2 reasons. First it practically improves your life which is a profoundly good thing. But second it concentrates the madness in the cities, as more reasonable voices move away the proportion of insane people who remain grows, and it accelerates the insanity there.
The absolute best possible argument for avoiding this insane progressive spiral is not an argument at all, it's to simply go and set up your own well functioning piece of society and prosper, don't argue what a theoretical outcome would be (which is what utopian thinkers always do), but rather live it. I wish that what you propose were possible; but in many cases it simply isn't. This is by design, it must be said. The move to cities (hellscapes) is part of the WEF agenda, promoted and encouraged by others likewise; however whereas the infamous 'you will own nothing' article proposed pity and sadness for those "left behind" in the 'past' (which we know as the rural present), the authoritarianism is designed to absolutely prevent 'simply' doing anything.
The UK Online safety Bill (and others proposed throughout the developed world) moves towards an internet 'licence' - so open communications would be restricted. Anti-Fossil fuel measures throughout Europe, Australasia, Canada are to remove the ability to heat and fuel your own home off-grid (wood burning already outlawed or rstricted, oil or coal-fired heating outlawed in future, land taken from open access and converted into wind farms, or 're-wilded' - often with dangerous mammals reintroduced to 'protected' habitats.
A proposed bill that new Cars not permitted to be amended or modified - including in their control software - which (in the UK) the Government must - by law - be able to access remotely... Rural speed limits mirroring those in towns for 'health and envorinmental' reasons restricting the access people have to get from place to place.
The 'option' to be an outsider, to not participate in the insanity, to live a different way; all that is being deliberately and very slowly targeted to remove all such choice; it's a very dangerous precipice on which we all now stand and 'opting out' instead of fighting against it is really only available in a few sections of US Republican states in the developed world; most of the rest, such freedom is being eradicated by design and in law.

    • @Frosty-oj6hw
      @Frosty-oj6hw 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@OsellaSquadraCorse There's still a huge amount of diversity in the USA between the states and the kind of state laws they enact, I'm not saying you should live off the grid, but that moving to a state which has more suitable laws for your preference is a good practical solution. The more people that move to these states the stronger the voting base is there and it protects them from having degenerate state laws. There has always been bad laws proposed, but proposals aren't the same as enacting the laws so it's jumping to conclusions to fear monger about them. I stand with you in opposing these laws but I think it's always bad to take a doomsday approach to this, changes in your individual lives actually matter a lot, moving to a place where you can set local laws actually matters. I think if this becomes framed as we need to systemically change the entire country or planet then everyone becomes hopeless because it's too big in scope.
Most of these absolutely insane things in the US are being done at state level, because the only way you can pass such stupid and irresponsible laws is if you have an overwhelming majority of idiots in one place, and that's what is happening to the costal big city areas which lean very heavily to the left. The moment you move out of these states you're completely freed from that shit.

I’m a former member of the Tory Party and have left because I’m completely disillusioned with them and will not vote for them again until they return as a proper Conservative Party. Labour on the other hand have definitely moved more towards the middle ground, but are still full of inept people who have a history of being members of the Communist Party, Socialist Workers Party etc. They are also globalists, lovers of the EU and the World Economic Forum. They will also wreck the economy as have every Labour Party in the past because they will spend public money through massive borrowing with no care for how it will be paid back.
I also still have the clear picture of Starmer being unable to describe what a woman is and the disgusting picture of him taking the knee. I don’t want my Prime Minister to be pandering to BLM, something Labour have done consistently from the beginning.

In wearing this as some badge of honor, they make a big assumption: that if a liberal believes in free speech, for example, that a conservative must not - that he must think the opposite. That if a liberal believes in compassion, the conservative must not. These ideas, quite frankly, are ridiculous. In short, they are ignorant of what conservatism is.

If a liberal isn't going to be grounded in either an objectivist or religious basis, then he will lack the mental shields to protect himself from marxist subversion.

I really like Ana Kasparian and have for a long time wanted to meet her and pull her out of much of that nonsense. She's a passionate gal with a heart and spirit towards what seems to be justice and general populism, by nature. And when one has those qualities in this society, 'progressivism' throws out a strong hook. Anyway, I am 100% confident I could wake her up to a bunch of it - starting with Israel. Then on to much of the 'wokism' batshittery etc etc etc.
On another note.... I'm a supporter of RFK Jr. In random order, here's some of my reasons for supporting RFK Jr...
-genuinely wants to heal the 'culture war' divide in our country, and he has the ability to, being liked by many different 'types' of people from across the spectrum of issues and ideas, who are tired of the 2-party duopoly
-has integrity, has courage, truth seeker in general, thinks for himself (not a DNC/RNC puppet)
    -not phony
-incorruptible, cannot be bought or bullied
    -thoughtful and introspective
-deeply considers problems and possible solutions
-vocal about the corruption of 'Citizens United' and the power of the big private money controlling government
-vocal about putting an end to corporate capture over government (pharma, banks, oil, military industrial complex)
-wants to get us out of 'forever wars' and to pull back on and expose the corruption within the military industrial complex
-wants to pull back NATO and resolve the Ukraine problem via negotiations
-vocal about the dishonesty and agendas of commercial media
-wants to abolish all pharmaceutical advertisements on television (this has major influence on the 'news' narratives)
-wants to keep the pharmaceutical industry honest with safety testing, transparency, etc
-wants to get rid of government assist crony capitalism and subsidies for big ag, oil, etc
    -advocate for civil liberties
-vocally against censorship (will free Snowden and Assange on 'day 1')
-against mandates and police state-like policies
-classical liberal sensibilities with respect of others (without the 'woke' or fake identity politics)
-vocal commitment to transparency regarding FBI, CIA, NSA over-stepping and out-stepping
-would put the federal budget on blockchain to be fully transparent for all citizens
-passionate about environmental and ecological concerns
-passionate about investing in regenerative farming practice
-passionate about cleaning our food supply and exposing the unhealthy ingredients in processed 'foods'
-wants to bring preventative health more into public discourse; nutrition, exercise, etc
-will immediately close the border (this is not some republican scare issue, it is a very major issue - for many reasons)
-will send the necessary Asylum Judges to the border to expedite the process for legal migrants
-has an excellent plan to make homes affordable for all, including a program that backs mortgages at 3% and a tax structure to keep Black Rock from continuing to buy everyone out (this also will bring rent costs down dramatically)
-due to his family/background, he's well-learned from the inside of the various power structures
-due to his decades as an attorney successfully taking on major corporations, as well as government regulatory corruption, he is exceptionally well-suited for taking on the myriad of corporate capture over our government
*I wrote the list above many months before Oct 7, 2023. I should add, especially directed towards my brothers and sisters of the populist 'left' and populist 'right', 'progressives', 'libertarians', and people who are just antiwar, in general...
-RFK Jr. is in support of Israel (as am I). However, this in *no* way means he isn't also in support of helping the innocent people within Gaza. RFK Jr. has always been very aware of the conditions for the people within Gaza, and is especially aware of, and feels deep heartache for, the Hell they are living in now. As President, he is a person who would do all he could to help seek lasting peace and prosperity for all in the region
-although RFK Jr. is a supporter of Israel, he is not a fan of Netanyahu, and has said repeatedly that he would *not* be writing him a blank check with American dollars to do with as he wishes
-there is no one who would fight harder or more tirelessly to reach out to everyone involved, as well as to leaders outside of the region, to try to negotiate and implement a sustainable peaceful solution for both the Israelis and the Palestinians. RFK Jr. would bring many ideas and a commitment to approaching the problem there from several different angles, and involving several other players. In fact, he would have been doing this before Oct. 7. (Simply yelling 'apartheid', 'genocide', etc is *not* in service of an actual *solution* - ask Hamas)
-and unlike anyone from the 2 major parties who supports Israel, RFK Jr. would never be lead by the corrupt (and disgusting) sheer financial interests of the Military Industrial Complex when it comes to *any* of America's foreign policy; including with Israel

Love you, Dave. The “good will” you are describing among conservatives comes from religious faith. Love for others is the goal in most all religions. Everyone has a religion. Some people worship themselves and care little for the well being of others. These types of people care little for traditional churches and such. Being selfish is the natural order for children. However, when you don’t outgrow it, you become a narcissist.

    • @rpglover5955
      @rpglover5955 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

I don't know about that. Some of the conservative people out there are more than happy to call evil on those that don't follow their own set of beliefs despite having good counter arguments to their beliefs (See certain twitter posts/videos about Men not wanting to engage in marriage in current year that has been circling around for the last few weeks by people like Matt Walsh, Michael Knowles & Ben Shapiro). Not to mention, being selfless CAN lead to situations where you are taken advantage of, while being somewhat selfish and have respect for yourself (assuming you aren't too naive) can at least protect you from those things. What matters is the ability to reflect over your own actions and understanding that whenever you make a choice, that you hold yourself responsible to that, and can learn from your own mistakes.
I'd rather be slightly selfish and respect myself, than be selfless and used by others for their own gain, and abusing my goodwill towards them.

@@Mike-ko9pz What you are describing is human nature. Humans will always find ways to hate and hurt each other. I must acknowledge that I am Christian and so I am biased. But the primary virtue in Christianity is love, love of God, love of family. love of the stranger, and even love of enemies. Yes, Christians can and have given in to the worst of their own human nature at times, but I would argue that it/they have done more good than harm in the past two thousand years. The rise of individual human liberty, the idea that every human is created equal, the abolition of slavery, the golden rule that I have heard atheists reference and not even realize or acknowledge where that originated. I remember a few years back when a non-religious friend of mine was referencing Bill Maher's comments about all the religious wars that have occurred, and I was thinking aren't there a ton more wars about power and territory, with religious wars only constituting a small minority in comparison. And I (as well as my friend) am from the US, and I was thinking has the US ever fought a war motivated by religion? I cannot speak to other religions, but Christianity has had a positive influence on western society. Even in this podcast, Carl, far from being religious, makes note of the good will people of faith seem to have toward their fellow humans. Also, the Northern Ireland conflict was not about religion, despite the terms used. There are examples in history where Christians have fought among themselves *because* of religious differences, but that isn't one of them. Finally, to disagree in part with the opening post, I do not believe that you have to be religious to have good will or morals. But I do believe ethics and morality cannot be rationally justified without reference to God.

Jordan Peterson talks a bit about psychopaths taking over institutions. Religion is not exempt from it. It's not healthy to blow your own horn and assume you or your tribe has some sort of superior way of doing things, even if you do. Every institution is subject to corruption and bad actors. Let's not forget, that 20-30 years ago Dave Rubin would never have even had the chance of engaging with many religious people. Religious people would push him towards the degeneracy of the left, and maybe he would not be married, would not adopt a child, and would instead lead the way less meaningful life. I am painting a worst-case scenario here, but there is everything to gain and nothing to lose from having someone like him on your side.

Carl Benjamin's comments on The Labour Party I fear are more based on wishful thinking than rational expectation. I agree that it may be difficult to see how a Labour government could possibly be worse than the one we have, but I have full confidence that somehow Kier Starmer will find a way. We have 3 major issues. Zero Carbon policies, avoiding WWIII, and radically reducing illegal immigration. I tend to believe that if we simply leave business to get on doing what business does then the economy will do well enough. In general, all an incoming Labour government needs to do is restore a sense of stability to the people. Indeed became the conservative government that the people keep voting for but have not had since the 80s and 90s. This could happen but I for one have zero confidence that it will. Blair won 3 elections by pretending to be a conservative or moderate while destroying everything that he touched, so why should Starmer turn out to be any different?

I remembered staunch Atheist Liberal Sargon back when he argues with staunch conservative Christians (who are not very good at representing God, but headaches) on whether or not, "God is morally good or morally evil?" and I said to myself, maybe Sargon need to experience what Sodom and Gomorrah was like and say to himself "Get me out of here! I don't want this shit."
13:40 This used to be Sargon back then having that monopoly on moralism. Are Liberals really capable of "MORALISM?" that is a big question.
Why do you think God gave them Israelites the ten commandments?
Do you really think those people are morally good? You can only wish.
You can't really know "GOOD MORALITY" unless you experience "WHAT IS EVIL?"
and when you know "What Is Evil?" then you gain that wisdom of "What is Good?"
For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

13:00 This is such good stuff. Liberalism was a great weapon to pierce the social tyranny of the conservative "side", and it was a needed one. This ties well to how religion and religious texts can be viewed as a descriptive instead of a prescriptive moral guideline. A secular read of religion can take it to be the natural development of trial and error in human experience, where the lessons self select for survival and prosperity. Both are incomplete. You wouldn't go very far without something that challenged some of the fundamentals of religion. You also wouldn't go very far without religion pointing the way. How can you figure out liberalism if you can't even understand the value of human life and community?
These two need each other, but both can be corrupted. Today we are witnessing the complete corruption of liberalism and the consequences are scary. Thankfully we have some strong institutions to resist, so they will have a hard time breaking us.
