      Redemption Of The Beast
Wrong, a basic understanding of Sikhism contradicts this. Sikhism is clearly a distinct religion when it rejects the worship of all hindu God's and goddesses, rejects the vedas in their entirety, and does not recognize the bhagavad gita as their holy book. The hindu caste system is also not permitted in Sikhism. Stop spreading misinformation.

Guru Nanak was born a mystic, God sent persona, who taught love and peace for all humanity. He was against superstitions, dogmas, rituals and idol worshipping, he extensively travelled the world spreading the message of a universal brotherhood void of caste, color and religion. Followers were known as Sikhs, which means “Disciple/Follower/Learner”. His basic message was: Naam Japo ( Repeat and remember God’s name), Kirt Karo( Work honest and hard), and lastly, Vand Chako( Donate 10%of your earnings to charity).

Thank you for making this beautiful introduction about Sikhi, even though I was born in Sikh family but most of Indian born Sikh like myself or our parents or grandparents don't even understand our Gurus ji's teaching, in the last 10 years or so many good parchark are spreading the teaching based on Guru Granth Sahib ji, so but I can understand is that our Gurus didn't create another religion, I think they tried to bring the whole Humanity together because starting from Guru Granth Sahib ji which have writing of poets from other faiths than laying the foundation of Harimander Sahib (Golden Temple) Guru ji chosed person from another faith to do it, the four doors which shows that everyone is welcome from all corners of the world, the Langer where everyone can sit and have meal together it doesn't matter if person is rich, poor, Hindu, Muslim, Christian or any other faith, so what I can understand that Sikhi is not another faith, Guru Ji teaches us that we all are brothers & Sisters we all have one father people call him God, Allah, Ram, Waheguru etc.,
May waheguru ji bless the whole Humanity
    We are All One!!!

    Concept of God in Sikhism:
MULMANTRA: THE FUNDAMENTAL CREED OF SIKHISM
The best definition that any Sikh can give regarding the concept of God in Sikhism is to quote the Mulmantra - the fundamental creed of Sikhism, which occurs at the beginning of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
It is mentioned in Sri Guru Granth Sahib, volume 1 Japuji, the first verse:
"There exists but one God, who is called The True, The Creator, Free from fear and hate, Immortal, Not begotten, Self-Existent, Great and Compassionate."
    Sikhism is a monotheistic Religion
Sikhism enjoins its followers to practise strict monotheism. It believes in only One Supreme God who is, in the unmanifest form, called Ek Omkara.
In the manifest form He is called Omkara and has several attributes such as:
    Kartar - The Creator
    Akal - The Eternal
    Sattanama - The Holy Name
    Sahib - The Lord
    Parvardigar - The Cherisher
    Rahim - The Merciful
    Karim - The Benevolent
He is also called Wahe Guru - the One true God.
Besides Sikhism being strictly monotheistic, it also does not believe in Avataravada - the doctrine of incarnation. Almighty God does not incarnate Himself in what is known as Avatara. Sikhism is also strongly against idol worship.
Guru Nanak was influenced by Sant Kabir
Guru Nanak was influenced by the sayings of Sant Kabir so much that several chapters of Sri Guru Granth Sahib contain couplets of Sant Kabir.
One of the famous couplets of Sant Kabir is:
    "Dukh mein sumirana sabh karein
    Sukh mein karein na koya
    Jo sukh mein sumirana karein
    To dukh kaye hoye?"
"In times of trouble, God is remembered by all
But none remembers Him during peace and happiness.
If God is remembered in good times of happiness
    Why should trouble occur?"
Compare this with the following verse of the Qur’an:
    "When some trouble toucheth man,
    He crieth unto his Lord,
    Turning to Him in repentance:
    But when He bestoweth
    A favour upon him
    As from Himself,
(Man) doth forget what he cried
    And prayed for before,
    And he doth set up
    Rivals unto Allah."
    [Al-Qur’an 39:8]
The Sikh scriptures therefore emphasise monotheism and God-consciousness.

      Choice of word are incorrect.
'Offspring'. When you do not agree with the current religion then you are no more offsping!
'Created by a hindu': Again, by birth guru nanak was hindu, but he never accepted that. Infact he clearly denied that. When he does not want to related to Hinduism and its rituals then there is no point he is an called a hindu!
'His ideas': Guru nanak said, 'Jaisi main ayi khasam ki bani'. He never said the idea is his own.
Your intention may be correct. But the message conveyed is very Hindunaized.

You can say the same thing about Islam coming from concepts of Christianity and Islam. We all have our origins, but don't try to extract Sikhi from Islam and Hinduism. Guru Nanak spoke what God directed him to say. Prophethood isn't only limmited to the Muslim faith. God took mercy upon the Indians and sent down his Messengers (Guru Nanak) to guide humanity towards the truth and humanity of God.

The story of Sikhism is told here in a very brief, nutshell format, but very well presented. One thing that even most Sikhs erroneously describe is "Kacchera", one of the five Ks as 'underpant'. It is NOT an underpant as in the Guru's time there was no Pant. It is more appropriate to call it 'breeches'. It is a baggy breeches like "trouser' that that reaches down to below knees and was the favored trouser of the horsemen and warriors that would not cause any restriction to body movement during combat. Again, Kacchera should be translated as Breeches worn by warriors of the Gurus' time.

Note that the fight between Sikhs and Mughals might be more of political nature than religious. Jahangir, according to his autobiography, didn't have any problem with Sikhism until Arjan Dev made a political blunder of blessing Jahangir's rebelling son.
Deep research in to the topic is still ongoing regarding the religious policies of the Mughal rulers today. New facts r being brought out.
But it's generally known that common people try to put a story of "good Vs evil" , "oppressor Vs oppressed" to make their leaders matyrs and heroes in folk lore & stories. So one has to be careful while studying the conflicts in history, basically in a time today which is marred by communalism.

      2. Is it necessary for a Hindu to have a Hindutva political ideology that specifically targets Muslims & Mughals.
      3. Can't a Hindu know about Islam & can't a Muslim not know about Hinduism?
      4. How does someone talking/writing about a history topic reveal his religion to the reader?
      5. Can't a Hindu defend a Muslim in a debate?

Sometimes the history of Sikhism gives people the wrong idea that Sikhs hate Muslims. It is not true. We've lived together Sikhs and Muslims for a long time. No religion is evil. There are only good and evil people. and Jahangir, who was an evil human being happened to be a Muslim, just like I'm sure there are people who are Sikhs and are terrible people. Your religion doesn't define you, what defines you is if you're following the morals and the beliefs of your religion. If someone like Jahangir is forcing people to do something, he was never a true Muslim.
