I'm making a playlist of the 100s to a 1000 or so particular video game songs that have TRULY stood out to me out of the gazillion I've been listening to on a quite regular basis since the 1980s. I'm not really actively hunting them down, just adding them to the list as they pop into either my head or a web browser. Time to add this masterpiece to the ongoing list. Completely timeless and unforgettable. Composer/Remixer for BC Rearmed was Simon Wiklund by the way, look him up. Quite the genius.

Anyone here remember an old game called Maximum carnage on the snes, now that game had some good beats to it for that time and the game was good too never really got round to finishing it.

The music in this game is fucking incredible. I like the way the composer has sort of made it sound like the music you'd hear in an 8-bit game, which the original obviously was. I honestly don't know how he managed to make the music sound 8-bit AND actually good at the same time. It's genius.
Cheers to that, both on GOG would be a no-questions re-buy for me Or first purchase in the case of BCR2, never gotten a chance to play it. Shame GRIN went under in general, but especially given it would make something like that a logistical nightmare.

That's Generalisimo Klilt. The leader of the Imperials and the main villain of the game. However, there is a twist building up to an even greater evil. If you've beaten the original or this game, you'll know what I mean.

How this random little digital only retro remake wound up with one of the greatest soundtracks in video game history will always blow me away. If you don't start moving at 2:00 there's something missing inside of you.
It'd be my dream to work around music like this! I love how Capcom can recycle and refurbish pieces of this or other themes into their other themes for Bionic Commando, yet it sounds just as fresh as any other track! It also has that nostalgia factor.
I hate the First Legion/Second Legion so goddamn much right now... Bloody awful on Super Hardmode What's that, you enjoy being flanked by 6 guys and you can only block one side at a time? :D

The music was done by Simon Viklund, an independent artist.
He remixed them but the soundtrack was original written by Junko Tamiya for the original NES game in 1987 ;)
Now all we know Simon for is doing work for PayDay! Which is fine. He'll always be Bain to many of is anyways!

Before these games, he also worked on the soundtrack for Bandits: Phoenix Rising for PC. An overlooked game from 2002 that deserves another chance!

Chuck Probst it was on the sega genesis and Super Nintendo, another good game was separation anxiety.
All these years and I still come back to this ost. They have all these ost remakes ffvii, resident evil, but this one easily wins on remakes.

1:32 is where the tone gets really funky
It's actually trying to mimic the tempo played in the PAL version (50 herz), which is much slower than heard on NTSC-versions (60 herz).
It makes sense since the composer is from Europe. I think it's better with a lower tempo as well.
