This is how I preserved my garlic crop this year. Thank you for this great idea! And I am still addicted to your Tzatziki dip. I have had a steady batch on hand every week since I finally made it this Spring. Tastes great on just about anything. 😂
Excellent idea. I do this with canned chipotles in adobo sauce. I purée them and do the ziplock freezer bag thing and press flat for freezing. Then I break off a piece or pieces as needed for a pot of chili etc.
Great tip! In a cool room I've got lots of garlic that I harvested in late August. It's now early February and I've been wondering what to do with my excess. I like this idea. Simple. Thanks.
Dimitra, good morning from England. I grow quite a lot of garlic and by the time December comes it is starting to go soft. This is an excellent idea and I will be freezing a good part of this year’s crop as you describe when I harvest at the end of this month. A great channel, I cooked your one pan lemon chicken last night but added carrots and a turnip from my garden and it was delicious. I am looking forward to trying many more of your recipes.
I have been doing this and putting it into ice cube trays and freezing it. That also works well for ginger. One cube is about one tablespoon. Some folks add a bit of oil to it but that is not required.
Great tip, I buy the bulk garlic also, but grind it and keep in an air tight container.as long as you grind the bulk garlic it can keep in the refrigerator for a few weeks.we do the same process for ginger.
This is a great tip! I don't know if our Costco has the garlic in this large container as I am in Ontario,Canada. I will look next time I go. I will definitely fo this, thanks for sharing.
I use my magic bullet to chop up garlic and onions the same way, but I use a covered mason jar to store mine in the frig with a little olive oil on top. I suppose if I bought a big jar like you do at Costco's, it would be more cost effective to store it in my freezer too. Thank you for the tip!
A question. Will freezing work for fresh whole cloves and fresh sliced cloves? I too buy them in the jar like you and nearly always end up throwing some away. Whole, sliced, and crushed & chopped are about the only way I use garlic.
Great idea but by far my best kitchen tip came from someone (hmmmm) on preserving leftover tomato paste in a freezer bag. If only I could remember her name.
Dimitra ~ Hope all's well with you ♡ Thank you for everything ♡ I have a few questions. When I saw your videos using Mahleb and Mistica, I went to get it. Most sweet baking recipes (cookies, cakes, etc.) do not call for these ingredients - but can you/would you normally add them anyway to enhance the flavor? Also, the Mastica looks like teeny tiny whitish "things" smaller than aspirin - is that right? $1.39 for what appears to be 10 in the pack. Do you add only one (1) little "pellet"? LOL! They're tiny! Does it really have flavor??? Okay if you have a sec, please tell me your professional opinion/thoughts on Mahleb and Mastica. Thank you, Dimitra.
Haha! I know! They’re expensive, right?! They have so much flavor that you only need a tiny bit. They should be ground (both mastiha and mahlepi) mahlepi is added in much larger quantities because it’s flavor is very floral and mind. Almost like and slight almond flavor in the background. The mastiha has lime notes so it would be in a similar family of spices such as cardamom. I love it but I also grew up with the flavor. As for cardamom, it took me a while to get used to it’s very prominent flavor. I love it now! Which recipe are you using them for? Best regards, Dimitra
@@DimitrasDishes .... Thank you for responding. At present, I do not have a specific recipe, I just wanted to have them both on hand because you recommend them. Your reaction to the mahleb when you inhaled it's aroma on camera was too good not to have it ♡ Would you use it like nutmeg or cinnamon? What is an appropriate measure? One teaspoon? What should I use it in? As for the mastica, you say I have to crush it up?
Thank you for your video. I was storing my fresh cloves from the grocery in a clay pot and then one day I noticed these tiny insects.😤 Couldn't believe insects would like garlic?
Super idea. I mix minced garlic & parsley with a little olive oil and freeze it ice cube trays. Regards from France...where there is no Costco.
Great idea!
TY sweet Dimitroula mou! I did your technique of preserving garlic & I have them in the freezer now.
Wonderful!

Yes, you can also freeze whole cloves :) I forgot to mention that :)
Does the salt help preserve it or is it for taste?
Great idea but by far my best kitchen tip came from someone (hmmmm) on preserving leftover tomato paste in a freezer bag. If only I could remember her name.
haha! I heard the same :)
Do you have to chop the garlic before you freeze it?
I just found your channel and absolutely love it!!! Random question, where do you get your shirts and earrings? You have such cute style💕🌸💕🌸💕🌸💕🌸💕
Thanks for subbing! the shirt in this video is from Ann Taylor. It was on sale!!

......and I have also Googled to read about them, too.
Another way to preserve and cure the disease is to make black garlic
Make sure store bought peeled garlic is grown in the usa. Lots of it comes from China and Chinese prisoners peel it with out glove. Just say
Great idea, thanks!
