I am using xb55AP for about 3 years and it is definitely very good for pubg but I cannot agree with you about the footsteps.. You can get footsteps very clearly and even tell which floor, either the enemy is snaking or climbing stairs.. in a way you can tell the exact position because of its low frequency range which is far better than ex series. But one thing I didn't like is that sony branding and steelplated colour will be faded after a year or two.

Have you tried using larger eartips? Usually, that happens because the earphone is not getting a good seal, which means you have to use different eartips or find the appropriate position to wear them.
Exactly I had mdrex255ap for almost 2years those were balanced with more trebble , so when one of my earplug stopped functioning I ordered them again , theis time they came in wierd and cheap cardboard packing and had more bassy sound to them.

Based on user reviews, people have expressed that the product doesn't sound as good as I expressed in the video. The old packing is different as you see in the video and new packing is different. Earlier the people who bought it on my recommendation were very satisfied but recently they are not with the new variant.

It is better, I have both. 255 has a balanced sound signature. Xb55loses out on highs because it's simply overfocused on the lows. If you only like bass, 55 is better but 255 is much better for most genres
