    Thanks for trying to help others learn about wing trimming. To many trolls out here to help anyone. I have owned my birds over 40 years now and some are free flighted and some or trimmed, Some will hurt themselves when fully feathered and others are just fine. Oh and by the way the ones that always say don't ever trim a parrots feathers have never had one hurt themselves and they most certainly will if you own them long enough. Not every landing in a parrots life will be a smooth landing and when in a house they will head for light and sometimes that means a big picture window and at least a sprained neck and at worst a broken neck , but my point is that its what works for you in your situation, I have my fully flighted birds in and outside aviary that was custom built by a house builder and cost me what my garage cost so i would love to see some of these people who makes comments on their birds being fully flighted and how much room they let their parrots fly in.

    Thanks! Now I know how to properly clip my cute little Conure's wings, I didn't want to clip them without seeing the proper video and she doesn't know how to fly, she's always running into stuff and I hate seeing her getting hurt, So thanks for the proper demonstration! I can finally live worry free and My conure can live pain-free, Apples (My Conure) says thank you and so do I!

      @Baconmuncher you're not cutting off the whole wing, just clipping feathers. They can still fly a bit and it's absolutely not abuse. Why did you even click on this video if you're against it??

    I got my Indian ring neck from a breeder and they butchered his wing feathers!!! I didn’t realise that when I was at their house but when I arrival home I then saw his wings. They also only cut one wing so he was unbalanced. They cut his wings when he was only four months old!!!! He Tried to fly off his cage but fell and broke his leg :( he is fine now and very healthy and happy. his leg is completely fine.

    I just think that if it comes to cutting a birds wings so it can be kept as pet, it probably shouldn’t be kept as a pet I understand that it’s so it can’t escape and it can’t hurt itself but if it needs to have its wings cut for this I just think birds shouldn’t be kept as pets. No different to declawing a cat in my opinion.

      Lola Rose so they don’t kill themselves by flying into a window , a mirror or a ceiling fan. If you have a domesticated bird that you keep inside the house then that’s the best way to protect them since they already live indoor. If you have them in an aviary this is not necessary .

      @agatasobocinska1142 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Gio turn you are a complete idiot. How can you even compare those things. Clipping their wings hurts them as much as it hurts you to get a haircut - not like amputating your legs. They can still fly , just not upwards. Once you decide to keep a bird inside of your house it is for their security cause I can assure you the bird would smash their head by flying into the window, a mirror or a fan sooner than later. Since you already like that comparison - Do you have your kids running across the highway? No, you keep them away from it - so they don’t just run around deadly cars even if that’s just kids nature, they run around. Even if you had to hold their hand to keep them from running into a car and even if that disables their running ability. The fact that they have legs doesn’t mean they should use them to get in trouble ;)

      900Hilton Its so easy to do it yourself. Just cut a little a time and see if your bird can still fly(you are not supposed to make unable to fly, just cut until it can just glide). That way you cant hurt it. And NEVER cut the tiny feathers as they are blood feathers(feathers thats still growing). If you cut a blood feather or you cut and your bird is pain go to the vet IMMIDIENTLY! Otherwise its completely fine clipping on your own, but if you are still unsure you can just search on TH-cam for tutorials. :) I hope this comment was informative for you and anyone else.

      What, NO! You dont cut right up to the tiny feathers on top. When i say cut a little at a time i mean cut 1 feather. You should first do 3-4 and check if your bird is still flying to good. Then if it does cut anothet feather. This video shows the correct cutting lengt from the top:

      Do some research.

    • @OwlTyto
      @OwlTyto 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, you have do some research. I know that it doesn't hurt the bird and that the feathers regrow. That ist not the point at all. A bird's whole body is designed to fly. It's lungs and airbags are provided with fresh air through the action of flying. If you take away a bird's ability to fly there is a reduced exchange of fresh air which can course aspergillosis, a disease that can shorten a birds life immensly. In Germany trimming a bird's wing is forbidden because it's in violotation of the animal protection law. Besides this aspect of health I just don't get why you get an animal as a pet, that is born to fly, although you are not able to offer the space that your bird needs to fly extensively and safely. If you can't guarantee this, then simply just get another pet, not a bird which defines itself through it's ability to fly.

    • @OwlTyto
      @OwlTyto 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a quiete selfish chain of thought, don't you think? To get a pet just because you think you might enjoy it? "It's as if they are still in the wild" - oh yeah of course, a bird its characteristical ability to fly was taken away and that live without any perches etc in a living room is extremely close to the wilderness. And btw, a bird should not bond with its owner in the first place. It needs a partner of the same species!! Anything else is cruel. It seems like Germany is a lot further as far as that goes. My comment is not meant to be a hate comment. I am shocked to randomly realize that bird care is that backward in other countries. I have eight parrots myself, btw. And they truely enjoy flying!

      I like to keep my birds fully winged when possible, but they get hurt flying into windows and get into places in the house that aren't safe. About half the year they are only minimally clipped, so they can still fly but not as fast or as high. That also keeps them from hanging out on top of my cabinets.
