There are some songs of his that feel like the decade they were written in but most of his songs are contemporary. I loved everything he has made. He was a really great musician and an even better performer.
@@zajkoo For a couple of decades now I’ve been saying that Bowie was/is THE most important Musician in Contemporary Music - and I’m a massive Prince fan since the early 80’s first and foremost, so that’s really not something I say lightly! His influence and reach across music, fashion, video, art and so many other genres is unparalleled. Of course, this is not to belittle or demean other artists/acts like Prince, Elvis, the Beatles etc - but as impactful and incredible as they all were in their own way thru their own contributions, none of them (I feel) match Bowie for his impact on the cultural zeitgeist.
Damn, 90’s Bowie was underrated as f*ck... every internet biography, competent or not, is like ”the last ’great record’ he made was the 1980 Scary Monsters... aanyway, he died in 2016 after releasing Blackstar and went out with a bang like a star he was...” I mean, feels like everyone skips the 90’s when talking about Bowie’s career. Yeah, he didn’t make hits that blew up the world like back in the 70’s, but despite that, he made so much good music that could be played in any nightclub today. He didn’t need to make hits, but instead he renewed his interest in innovating and experimenting with sounds, particularly in the field of electronic music. Say what you will, but I think Bowie’s music from the 90’s beats almost every edm-track that’s released today. There, I said it, and it’s only my opinion. But hey, everyone’s got one, eh? RIP the Master of reinvention. Nice that we can atleast have remastered music videos and interviews from the past to enjoy this, arguebly more sad, Bowie-less present
I think Bowie's 90s music wasn't defined for being good for play on nightclubs. It was more so defined by being an anthology of an artistically prolific period. The 90s for Bowie were great artistically. I mean, outside? Only he and Eno would have the balls of releasing such a weird record, with such a weird background story and even weirder recording sessions. Black Tie White Noise was also an artistically valued record and a complete experiment dealing with another genre. The same could be said about Tin Machine and Earthling. Hours was also pretty great, even though people say it's boring, it's general melancholic and introspective tone makes it a lot more appealing that one first listen might suggest. So, yeah. I do think the 90s were great and sadly get misrepresented because it isn't as much of a mess as the 80s or because it didn't have the same sales and reach as the golden age Bowie. The same could be said about his 2000s records, which, in my opinion, are all better than even a lot of the stuff he released back on the 70s. The 2000s were just so good, but I digress.
It gets ridiculous how Bowie's early albums, good as they are, get deified while his later material is ignored. "Scary Monsters" is more like his FIRST great cohesive album, in my opinion, with Let's Dance, Heathen, Black Tie White Noise, Outside, Reality, Blackstar and many others still to come.

That’s the one part of this version I don’t like myself - I appreciate the ballsiness of releasing a unique mix as a single, but I think Neil was trying to be too clever and using Bowie’s (or Burroughs - whomever you wish to associate it with) cut-up technique. As a huge Bowie fan I had the most amazing experience to this. It was at Roseland Ballroom NYC 1996 around 8am. When he married Iman, he became a family man and seemed to enjoy it. I dont know how you sowed your wild oats, but I certainly had my share of cringe worthy episodes.
@@margochristensen7440 No need to get upset. I was just making a remark about how you mentioned and affair with mercury when it just didn't seem relevant to what the actual point of your message was, so I said that he was having an affair with everyone at the time, so it doesn't really stand out. I'm not criticising Bowie.
@@MarceloKatayama oh I didn't take it as a criticsm of bowie. I thought my remark might have been in another context. I really don't remember. I enjoyed talking to you about him. And quite honestly I enjoy opinions differing from mine. Its broadening.
HEY! THANK YOU!!! For posting the original! For ANYONE questioning their sexual preference POWER TO YOU!!! This song came out when I was still questioning mine and it was instrumental at heart for me. It was ACCEPTANCE with Bravery. I miss him. YOU BE YOU!!! The rest is garbage. You just be you!!!! The world's changed. With too many acronyms. Not going to wax philosophical. YOU BE YOU!!! With my ABSOLUTE DEFENCLESS LOVE!!!! Yeah. That's where it stands. For BOTH of us. Solidarity, Yeah.
David was straight BTW. But he had many fine offers. Some he LOVED. And wished he wasn't.
Oh, we are truly blessed this fine day. Let's let the moondust cover us!
Love this song. The album is fantastic
Magnificent.
this is a lot of new videos to watch. One can only take SO much new music at a time, dave.
I prefer his '97 birthday version that had 3 drummers. That was a hell of a performance.
well, more like the album version, basically.
It was good but I didn't think it had enough drummers.
so true Taijifufu, second to none!!! 👍👍👍
That singing stance/pose only Bowie can pull off
Wish the label post the original Outside version.

Could it get any more British than this?
I remember feeling so confused the 1st time I ever saw this promo lol... 😂🤣😁
Honestly i first listened to this song in 1996 i was 14 years old at that time wow! times fly really fast. i am 40 now i am not only listen but also watch the video! thanks a lot to the changes of technology.
Mr bowie ,had so many begging him to do a song with him ,and I love david bowie and my petshop boys they tip toe walk on water never drag their heels, love bowie❤
when bowie met the pet shop boys, the sparks flew....sparks of genius of course.
Absolute classic colab , can never be repeated, beutifull 💙
This song still rocks in 2022!
Great song from an Ingeniously great Album!
This knocked my socks off at the beginning of Moonage Daydream. I had my hands to my face afraid my brains were going spill out on to the floor.
A+
Its was great
Agreed, it blew my mind
Agreed! It took me to another dimension.
Una de las mejores canciones de todos los tiempos!!!
I like this version better than the album version. Pet Shop Boys took it to another level. This was never released in the US that I know of I never heard it until about 5 years ago. I don't know why if it wasn't.
I had to buy it as an import in the US.
Oh boy how much I loooove this song! What an eye opener! ;)
Absolutely amazing. 😍😍😍
As a huge Bowie fan I had the most amazing experience to this. It was at Roseland Ballroom NYC 1996 around 8am. I clearly remember being on the enormous, packed dancefloor with my three best friends and having my mind blown away when the previous song segued into this new version. That night's DJ (Junior Vasquez?) was known for playing the best music in the City at the time. I was lucky to be there!
Amen... Every thing he dose is excellent.. I've love him and always will.
RIP Dave, you had the choice to live forever, missing you human ...
Thanks, this is one of the videos I have been looking for watch it
How wonderful is this
Wicked collab. Bowie was very influential.
1:26 hello spice boy 🙃
We miss you so much!
El artista inquieto, talentoso, más que cantante, un creador, gracias David Bowie 🙏 por todo el legado 🎤🇬🇧
