A great historical account of the famous Rescue 2.....A past memory: While I was an acting LT in the Boston FD my brother FF and I visited Rescue 2 for a 24-hour shift. They were in with Engine 210. The Brothers treated us very well, fed us a delicious supper (interrupted a few times). We were called out to maybe 2-dozen responses, 6 were All-Hands and, one was an explosion with fire (2-alarms) as the final response during our memorable time with a fine group of Brother Firefighters.
Rescue 2 was my grandfather’s last company before he retired in the late 60’s early 70’s. He had received the Thomas E. Crimmins award while R2 as well. Been trying to find photos of him with his company. FF Ray Willson
What an honor... I was a student at PS 243. And lived on Dean Street. The Bergen St house was right behind my school. An added bonus was Engine 234 and ladder 123 up the street. The 80s was LIT!!!!
@@kill-shot1186 It’s still standing on Bergen Street with the big red bay door and Rescue 2 logo starting to fade and the whole firehouse is left sitting there abandoned to this day because no agency like FDNY EMS or any other fire truck company has taken it after Rescue 2 left, this is the same circumstance with the long gone and forgotten Engine 212’s quarters just sits abandoned today
Hey guys! Thanks for sharing a piece of fdny history. You have answered alot of my questions especially with the rescue squads! Keep up the good work and thanks again!!!
Hope to visit their new house someday. Met a great bunch of guys there 2001, after 9/11. They lost Lt Pete Martin, FFs Billy Lake, Eddie Rall, Lincoln Quappe, Kevin O’Rouke, Danny Libretti and John Napolitano 9/11/01. Pete Lund (Ret. FDNY but LODD Woodmere NY 6/14/2005).
I'm surprised you didn't mention the exploits of Lt. Richard Hamilton, once the most decorated firefighter in FDNY history! I read his book, "20,000 Alarms" a few years ago and it was a good read. He was a lieutenant with Rescue 2 for many years, including the crash and fire at the "Piller of Fire" church in Brooklyn when the two airliners crashed. He also responded to the carrier fire where he almost died from carbon monoxide poisoning, but survived. He retired in 1975, but all the local media wanted to interview him. On that, he showed up to an interview and were upset that he didn't wear his medals. "I'm no damn Mexican General!" he told them. "I'm just a guy retiring."
Nice... R2 was on full display years back on the tv show "the bravest"... good show that gave a accurate account of FF life without romanticizing it... sad to see some of the guys in that series were killed on 9-11... keep up the good work
Good job guys telling the history of the FDNY , keep the stories coming, from a brother F.F. 1982-2001 E-85 L-39 E-70 L-53 The greatest job in the world
Is there a way to see more of the rigs and their equipment, especially anything that might be more specific to New York? Love your new channel, keep up the great videos!
As a buff I, of course, like the Bergen Street house. I'm sure that as much character it had it also probably outlived its purpose. How about a spotlight on Ladder 3 sometime?
All the talk about Rescue2 and you barely showed us anything. We didn’t get to see the inside of the new house (short of a couple of pictures of the walls). How about interviewing a couple of the members? The video is good overall, but it should definitely be longer and have more content.
Gonna miss Bergen. Used to go with my dad when I was young and ride all night. What an amazing time. If those walls could only talk.

Im 3 years on the job in Wyoming. It felt nice to have a shoutout for our state toward the end. Thank you for that

234 Engine also lived where Rescue 2 was until they moved to Sterling Place
@@irt3rdavenueel172 REALLY!?! Why what happened to 234s quarters!?! 🤔

Also I’m really liking these type of videos! They original and they really help me learn.
Why do many FDNY FFs not buckle the waist belts on their Scotts prior to entering a structure
Its just poor habits. But it is getting better with the younger generation I believe.
I just thought it was for a reason
@@GettinSaltyExperience Right. But if it's not hooked at the waist the straps will slip down putting pressure, unnecessarily, on the back.
Great to see you bob gallione look great pal

Thanks Mario...
I loved the “I smell the smoke” clip! Love that smell.
Me too!
these videos are great! Do one on a firehouse in Staten Island
Could you do one on Rescue 3 in the Bronx? I'd love to see that! These videos are amazing! Thank you so much.
Possibly!
Great video. Visited the Rescue 2s new house a month after it’s opening. Great group of guys and amazing history.
Great show. Great FD. 🍀🇺🇸🍀
Love these videos! Keep em coming!
Looking forward to more of these in the future
Do you have a spotlight on - FDNY Rescue 1?
Not yet but its in the works...

Therev Fireman If you ever come to New York ( or live )go to their firehouse and knock on their door and you ask them anything. That’s what I do.

Good Job Kubes and Louie !
What’s the name of the song in the background? Excellent segment btw!
What is at those different respective houses now? Are they all just kind of preserved?
Engine 210 is still at 160 Carlton Ave, 365 Jay st. is apartments, Bergen St. is vacant for now...
Pride of midtown next!?
AJ Deere T680 69/28 Harlem Hilton. As soon as we can get out 🔥😬
Awesome video 👍👍 THX!
How many times have all 5 rescues been called to the same scene?
Good question. We will look into it...
Some suggestions:
Engine 16, Ladder 7
Engine 68, Ladder 49
Rescue 3
That is the brand New Houe of RESUE2
Nice great work 👍
how tall is lou haha ?
Could you do a spotlight on Mraine 1
Not yet but in the works :)
3 fires a day. Or as they say in Detroit, a slow day.
Yeah not every company in Detroit hits 3 workers a day. That’s 3 a day just that the BK rescue goes to, not 3 a day fuckin citywide
nice great work
Make these like ten mins longer, AT LEAST.
Man is Kevin really short.
I bet one of those 15 dislikes comes from EX Mayor Bloomberg!
Can the next spotlight on be the Jolly Rogers
Gonna do 55 Engine in Little Italy then a Bronx or Harlem company...but that firehouse is on the list
@@GettinSaltyExperience Harlem companies are a good idea, a log of tradition and history up there
