  • If you want to use yarn, decorative thread, wool or ribbons as your under-thread, you can do so with the help of a bobbinwork bobbin case. This enables your BERNINA sewing machine to use threads or yarns that cannot be threaded through the needle. Depending on the model, you should use either a special bobbin case or an adapted standard bobbin case. Our video tutorial shows you how you can find the right case for your BERNINA machine, how to spool your desired yarn and achieve great effects with it.
    Lots of useful tips make it easier for you to use the accessories and illustrate what to look out for when using this technique. As a result, even free-motion embroidery is possible using the BERNINA stitch regulator (BSR). Our video will show you how. You can of course also use decorative stitches with this technique to create your ideal textiles with decorative yarn or ribbons. Bobbinwork opens up a wide range of possibilities for ambitious seamstresses.
    You can find more information on other BERNINA creative accessories and the wide range of possible uses on www.bernina.com

    Very Nice Video!!!! Although it says that you don't need any special Bobbin Case for the B8xx-Series Berninas, I would like to see some Bobbin Work done in one of them. I have the B830 LE with the BSR foot, and had never done this, but will LOVE TO TRY IT!!! Also, which is the maximum thickness of thread, and width for the ribbon that you can use on the B8xx, and which type of needle. Thanks for your time and kind reply!!!!

      Hi Jorge, thanks for asking! We recommend the following blog article for more information on this topic: weallsew.com/bobbinwork-for-7-and-8-series-machines/
      As for the yarn on the bobbin: We used Madeira Decora for the video above, but soft wool also works well. The best advice we can give is to try it out!

    Will this also work using stitch 1350 on the B790? Thank you for this tutorial. I need to get a red bobbin case!

    • @BerninaInternational
      @BerninaInternational  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi fxtrtr, thanks for asking. Stich 1350 on the B 790 is the hand quilting stitch. It is sewn back and forth. The big stitch in the middle is sewn over 3 times. We have made the experience that a stitch with back stitches usually does not look very nice when doing bobbinwork. Therefore, we don't think this stitch will give a good result. If you are using a relatively thin thread, it could possibly work. Getting the tension right could be a challenge though. You will to need to try it out!

    Can you use the BSR with bobbinwork?

    • @BerninaInternational
      @BerninaInternational  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Janice, thanks for asking. Yes, it is possible to do bobbinwork with the BSR, but you will have to test sew before working on your project. Sometimes the stitches don't turn out so nicely if you sew curves that are too tight or if you sew too quickly, for example. It takes some practice and you should definitely try it out.

    Hello! Could I sew with the red bobbin just straigt stitches as well?

    • @BerninaInternational
      @BerninaInternational  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Sasha, thanks for asking. Yes, absolutely, you can use a straight stitch as well. However, the "bottom is top" principle will remains the same, as that's the whole point of bobbinwork. We recommend that you test sew on a piece of fabric first before sewing in your project.

    Can I use this technique on my 570 as well?

    • @BerninaInternational
      @BerninaInternational  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Neelofar, if you have a new B 570 QE (2017 or later, see www.bernina.com/en-US/Support-US/Machines/BERNINA-5-Series/BERNINA-570-QE-2017-and-later) you can use the red bobbin case. The new 5 Series are not mentioned in the video because the video has been published in 2014. For full compatibility information on all our accessories please refer to the accessory catalog: www.bernina.com/en-US/Support-US/Product-Catalogs

      @@BerninaInternational have upgraded to 790se+ since then:). Loving my new machine. Can you please tell me what is the thickest thread I can use in the needle? Not just for bobbin work but generally. Thanks

    • @BerninaInternational
      @BerninaInternational  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@neelofar85 Congratulations on the upgrade! 😊 The maximum thread thickness depends on the needle that you are using. The strongest needle you can use on a BERNINA is a 120 needle. Hence, this needle size limits the maximum thread thickness. The thread may only be so thick that it can still be easily threaded into the eye of a 120 needle and pushed back and forth. It must be possible to thread the needle without the thread "piling up" and forming a loop in front of the eye. Check if the threaded needle moves down the thread when you hold the thread at a 45° angle, see th-cam.com/video/jTua7eBelSE/w-d-xo.htmlm30s

    Hello! What will be best for the thread 40 Tex either standart adapted bobbin case or red bobbin?

    • @BerninaInternational
      @BerninaInternational  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for asking. It may be helpful to use the red bobbin case with the thicker thread and use normal thread in the needle. Otherwise you will need to adapt your needle size according to the thread thickness. Please test sew before sewing in your project.

    This is a very useful addition to the instructions included in the packaging, however, could we please have less clutter on the screen - the index, foreign language at the bottom with a black background and the English language instructions jumping from top of screen to bottom, often all this clutter covers the picture and written instructions, other than that, thanks for a good tutorial even if I did have to watch it many times to see it all.
