Well I have given its qualifier round in my 12th class. there are four subjects-> Maths (not so difficult), Statistics(mainly basic 10th,11th topics like variance, mean),English(very easy for a English medium) and computational thinking (easy logical reasoning type). So as much I know qualifier exam is not that tough. but I cannot assure you about the difficulty of the main 4 year course.

I can speak for it as I've talked to 2nd year seniors on my campus event.
It gets very tough, IIT Madras will have you work like a traditional IITian and study seriously. (This is beauty of an IIT)
2nd year se it gets tough, qualifier is easy, but end of 1st year, two subjects, math 2, stat 2, known to fail most people if you take them lightly.
Just giving heads up so when you actually reach end of 1st year, tum fodd doge

Or you can give test after 12th pass and still get admission
If we get selected in the qualifier so we have to pursue the degree from online or we have to be enrolled in IIT MADRAS physical campus offline

Qualifier exams for this degree are tough many of my friends could not clear the qualifier exam then again reappeared for the reattempt exam over there also they could not clear so yes it is not that easy and after getting into this course it becomes more rigourous and tough .IIT apna standard toh maintain karegi hei...

@@shinobukocho7908 well it has 3 terms in a year . So 1 term is 4 months out of it, the studying period is 3 and half months and 15 to 20 days holiday. And in 3 months they will be teaching 6 months worth of course and on top of it has many assignments with deadlines. Its difficulty level is at par with that of a student studying in IIT Campus .
Another thing is that it doesn't only have programming...

I would recommend to those who already have done their bachelor's in maths/cs/stats only.
They can pursue along with their job.
