It actually also has to do with the hopper

For bedrock version 1.20.81 I got it to work by placing one redstone dust on top of the block directly above the redstone torch.
ETA: also have to have about 5 regular rails going to the powered rail on the hopper to slow the cart down like previously mentioned.

For those having same pb as me : It doesnt work if the hopper is unloading into another hopper, i think its because each hopper tick at the same time and therefore they are not unloading long enough for the redstone to go off

Hi I used to have this problem, the solution is to make sure you have a normal rail and not a powered rail next to the rail over the hopper, so the minecart can lose momentum

The problem is if you have your hoppers going down to another hopper. If you do hopper out of the minecart to a chest or barell back to a hopper it should fix it or you can gave the hopper go to the side first then go down

im having the opposite problem (bedrock also) - hopper minecart makes it to hopper, unloads, but doesn't leave.... i'm not unloading to a chest tho, and its going through a hopper ... trail. So I'm not sure if the chest has anything to do with it... it shouldn't right?... since the comparator is watching the hopper.

I have an issue with there being too many items, if hopper never empties then the cart never moves,

That's the way the redstone is set up. If the unloading hopper has items in it it will never send the cart away.

@@alldragon4 nope. The comparators cannot read the wagons, only the hoppers. So I don't think it's possible. But I'm not a redstone expert.
