Tricky, isn't it. Can use shades instead of contrasts in sections, as well as adding layers post contrast. Some models work better with slapchop for sure and in my experience, grim dark is its most suited style.
Thanks. I'll try once more now I've got some new dry brushes. But I do like the idea of learning grim dark.
