@@Cooliewhistlesbad take, if the team has an X factor it’s Newton. He’s a freak athlete w/ a 40" vert post injury. He was a known tenacious defender w/ length and athleticism. If he can be a role player deep on the bench to come in and do dirty work that can be important in a B10 title chase. Regardless, he’s a freak athlete and an unknown off the deep bench. @@Cooliewhistles he was ranked in the top 75 before not playing most of his senior season, with impressive showings against top talent in his class. No one said he’s going to be all world. But his potential to be a role player in the deep bench is there. Woodson has played tight rotations because his bench has been garbage, this season he should expand his bench, especially on the wings. Galloway can’t continue to play 35+ mpg, and should play back up PG minutes away from Cupps.
Its insane to me that Greg was beside himself to think that there’s a possibility that in a best case scenario, Myles Rice who was: - Pac12 FOY - 1st team all PAC12 - Avg 15/4/3/1.6 per game could be better than Braden Smith
As an IU grad I thought I had high hopes for this team, but Greg took this to a whole new level. I’m with Carter on my biggest worry, Woody is still coaching. I thought he should get one more year, it if he flops again this year IU will be looking elsewhere. I hope Carter is wrong, but he probably won’t be. Oh, can IU finally win at Wisconsin and end that stupid 24 year streak? Or Maybe win the Big Tournament which they’ve never done. Getting those things off the list sure would be nice.
With the potential which they have their skills should feed on each others. Also there is a rather deep bench which from game to game the starting line-up can change and not be a bad thing, as it's just sharing the start for 7 to 8 starters. While the players are all top picks then if they can actually help each other. There is always going to be two players open.
It’s going to take half a season for IU to gel, if it does at all. They’ll win 20 games on individual performances but will they win anything meaningful
In a horrible Pac 12 is correct.. I'm not sold on their guards, Galloway is who he is a streaky shooter at best. Indiana's hopes hinge on McKenzie, Malik, Ballo, Galloway and Goode., I don't know if that gets it done.
@@KevoUptownChicago Do you even watch basketball?? IU's hopes rest on their guard play, just like any team. Oh and by the way, Carlysle is projected to be an NBA first round pick next year. Thanx for your great insight, though.

Win Big 10 by 3 games? I’m an IU fan but I’m skeptical. Until Woody can prove he can coach and win without TJD, I’ll still root for IU but won’t hold my breath.
I think the Woody narrative has ran its course and gone a little overboard at this point. Is he a tier 1 or 2 coach in CBB? No. Probably not top half in the B10 rn. For the roster last year I don’t think a coach in America gets them cleanly in the tournament. He won 19 games and the only team of his 3 years that he has had an actual dynamic guard, the team was around a top 15 and finished 2nd in the B10. My optimism says the coaching will be fine
🤔 Brad has increased the illini win total each of the last 6 swason each year and hasnt missed the tourney in the last 4 seasons would have been 5 except for covid. So they have been bad or gross?? Dude shut up.
these guys think talent is the end all be all in college basketball. Talent is like having a great looking girlfriend and finding out she is gay Three parts to a great team. 1)Talent; 2) team work; 3) understanding the strategy and tactics of the offense and defense installed by the coach. There is an inherent problem with a new team of portal recruits. They don't know each others strengths , weaknesses, preferences. Integrating a new player or two is challenging enough. But integrating 5 talented but unhappy with the immediate past portals and 1 talented freshman is down right excruciating. Woody will have to show he is up to that challenge. Arguably 6 of the Hoosiers top 8 players are new to Woody's O and D. These 6 new important people have to absorb that AND learn how to play with each other. In a few months!!! Talent is not over rated ; But there are the other two components that are necessary to turn that talent into a winning team. And that is generally under rated. I am not a believer until I see some high level basketball from a right now talented but disjointed players.
Gotta even mention Jakai Newton...4 star... scorer... so much to this team
Gotta mention the 10th man in the rotation who hasn’t played in two years due to catastrophic knee injury because?
