@Cricketmaniac-k9t there was no chance we would lose a home series 3-0, but that happened. Not trying to be negative but we are in no position to be over-confident with our current test team
@Cricketmaniac-k9t Weakness against spin? In the last 10 years, Australia have been by far the best team to travel to India, with two really hard fought series in 2017 and 2023. I think they have a good shot at competing if India don't rig their pitches the way they did back in 2023.
@Cricketmaniac-k9t Absolutely not. The difference was that the curator wanted to reverse the flat wicket we are used to in Sydney, but he overcorrected. There was no directive from Cricket Australia (Cricket Australia or the coach/captain has no say in pitch preparation). Think about it. If Australia could influence the pitch, why would they bring India into the game by making it spicier? They would have gone for the flattest of flat tracks and gone for the draw. This is in complete contrast to two instances involving Indian pitches and the Indian management from Australia's 2023 tour to India- 1. Specifically doctoring the area of the pitch outside the leftie's off stump in the 1st test, since Australia has a lot of left handers. 2. Flat road at Ahmedabad to ensure that India won the series and qualified for the WTC final. So yes, India blatantly doctors their pitches, unlike Australia.
@Cricketmaniac-k9t Mate but you still get the point that the Aussies could have gone for a draw because that was all they need to win the series. Why would they risk it if they had control over their pitches? Read Ian Chappell's articles. You'll learn that Australian teams don't have the right to demand pitches the way many of the other countries do, India being the front runner (probably along with SA) in that department. Although one thing I'll give credit to the BCCI for are the pitches for the England tour to India last year. Those are how pitches work in India and also ensure Indian success unlike the lottery that has existed in most other series in the last 10 years in India.
I’m listening to TGC comms in one earphone with the (alternate) 7 commentary on TV and my dad said ‘You’re listening to those idiots? They’re funny aren’t they’ highest honour
If Cooper connally can maintain that accuracy that he shown in bbl with white ball in test cricket he will get lot of wicket in subcontinent conditions, u don't have to turn the ball that much in places like galle just land ball on the good length, he also has good slider to back his left arm spin, Australia should give him chance as third spinner, if it pay off they will some serious squad depth for subcontinent conditions, batter who can play in top 6 and bowl and bowl left arm orthodox
Great conversation about England's issues with touring in Australia. Let it not be forgotten that the England men's team have won only 6 tests on Australian soil since 1990.....SIX! ... and that includes a 3-1 series win in 2010-11. So outside that one successful tour 15 years ago....they've won 3 tests in 35 years. WOW.
I bought the Lalage Beaumont Fontyn in medium tan last week at kislux and since receiving it I have been using it and neglecting my designer collection (honeymoon period maybe) , but I was really impressed with the quality and timing, right down to how they used it. Will wear it. I wish they would make this bag in a variety of pinks (i. e. sakura pink). There are actually many options to choose from.
It's about god damn time that TGC gives me a 1998 ska reference. It's ticking all of my tism boxes. Next thing Smith Optics will be selling noise cancelling headphones.
1:18:40 I am old enough to remember the arrival of ODIs in the late 1970s. Every cricket journalist in the world was delclaring the "death of test cricket within 2-3 years". I have read that pundits were declaring the death of Test cricket with Bodyline iback n the goddamned 1930s.
These restrictions for the Indian team are so stupid. No one bothered to address the central issue, that bowling without Bumrah was not up to the mark. Sure blokes like Virat and Rohit underperformed and they are past their prime, but that is not why we lost. Had Bumrah bowled his quota in the last test the series could have been 2-2. If Shami had been around in the series, it may have been 3-1 in India's favour. Literally zero effort has gone into addressing the real issue. This is just so stupid.
People keep saying a "two tier system" would get the Big3 to play each-other more. Wrong. It would get the other 4 top 7 teams to play the Big3 every cycle. The Big3 *already* play each-other every cycle. I think it would be good to relegate teams that are doing poorly and reward teams that are doing well and have then play against the best opponents. I don't think it was mentioned in this podcast, but I've often also seen fearmongering of a Big3 nation getting relegated of promotion/relegation were introduced. Almost certainly not going to happen, because countries like Sri Lanka or Pakistan aren't going to leapfrog a Big3 nation when they actually have to play a series against *all three* of them. Right now they get an "easy draw" that inflates their position in the leader board, an actual "everyone plays everyone" cycle should be designed to equalise that.
As per introduction, The big box on bounce league has such culturally specific and on- point moniker for team name and branding, how Aussie is a heat , sixer, or culturally identifiable is a hurricane on the apple Isle? The logo and colours add so much the rich tapestry of our land, move over Banjo Patterson. In other matters; did anyone notice the team with the baggy green in the red ball game seem to have a quite nice Toyota badge on the front, but no actual mention of the great icon 'hi-lux'?( not just any ute btw), plenty of room on the whites for a few more decal , what sponsor is on the baggy green? Where the f is ninja stadium? Could the people who sponsor stadiums from one week to the next tell us what fking town the game is held at?, on the off chance we might want to catch a game 😂
Did the Indian team ever have an Argus review, Homeworkgate or Sandpapergate type scandals. I know it's a completely different sport for instance like NBA basketball I hate load management and the star players not show up for training and drills with the whole team not personal training or your own personal chefs like Kawhi Leonard James Harden or even Lebron James I doubt Rohit and Viru are like Kawhi or Lebron.
The Beach ball analogy was mentioned in a similar way to sea shells in one of the episodes on the That 70s show😂 th-cam.com/video/fpMKdN_7KeA/w-d-xo.html

India did their part for luggage restrictions by leaving the BGT behind.
Yeah just make sure you bring it back and leave it behind next in 2026 please.

4:30 - 14:00 Damn one of the best segments of TGC
This is the best episode of TGC there has ever been.
How hard is it for England to not have a breakdown after the ashes lost last year. Questions of Bazball will be raised.
Alana King is the new GOAT! ❤🎉
She’s the king, mate; the goat king. Baaaaa… Get around her!

Thanks Barry very insightful
As a Scorchers fan, having Josh run drinks all summer instead of playing for the Orange has been incredibly frustrating.
It's sad how excited I am about the TGC beer
BOYS come to Sri Lanka please, for the test series.
Send them the tickets

Wait, England haven't won an Ashes match in Australia since 2011, not 2017
Moral victory in that 2017 draw
women won 1 in 2017
And England men have won 6 tests in 35 years on Australian soil
We don’t like it down under, it’s too hot.
