Platinum is NOT an investment in India, you'll have to pay premium to purchase it & you won't even get what it's actually worth when you try to sell it, so it definitely isn't an investment. Silver chains are good as investment, but they'll corrode & turn black. Faster in costal areas, slower in other areas. So if you've money get silver chains & get them rhodium plated or keep buying new silver ones everytime they turn black. As to what I prefer, I like rings with detailing that I can relate to

I go for a black band paired with a black watch and 1 silver band in the another hand. These accessories will just suit with any outfit be it casual or formal.
