Mr Jongin has expressed interest for sensual rnb with trap sounds for quite a while now, its his favourite genres of music thus why he released it. Nobody held him at gunpoint to produce the mix tape, he did it because its his sound. He was probably surprised at how well the music video turned out probably wowing at the editing.

@@justviewer3677 I never said he could have done a solo album before. I saidhe has expressed that he loves these genres for a while. He once said that he loves Brandy and other 90s rnb artists. This is his sound. And he doesn't have a problem with the sensual and partly explicit choreo since he was the one that picked the dancers himself. He doesn't feel uncomfortable by it because he loves this sort of style. Hes also 27 not 17. I think he was a bit flushed with Baekhyun being there watching it but I believe he's proud and happy to dance these sorts of choreos and performances.
@@justviewer3677 idk about other artists. A lot of the times agencies are happy to fund their idols solo projects if they bring in money. Exo is a very very popular group especially in SK and other countries. Baekhyun and Kai will bring in money so they allow them to be as creative as they want. Also they're like the bread and butter for SM since they're Exo members. I know this shit coz I've been a kpop fan since 2011 and was there when Exo became the prominent cash cows for SM.
This is why we've yet to see any solo work from NCT besides covers and SM Station things. Taeyong is uploading stuff on Soundcloud using his own funds because NCT as a whole is not yet on the level of Exo in terms of profits, this coming from someone who has NCT as their ult group.
Again, idk about other idols going solo whether it's funded by themselves or their agencies.
