I was unsure if you can use the flush port or not for running the engine out of water. People seem to have different opinions and it isn't my boat, so I didn't want to chance it. I have read that the flush port does not supply water to the impeller and can cause damage. Idk, though.
@@codyadams1232I ran mine out of water, last year. For whatever reason, I couldn’t get water to run through the motor with my muffs. Pretty sure I pushed water past some seal, because the oil looked frothy tan and plain awful. Luckily, I didn’t seem to do any long term damage. An oil analysis this year, showed everything was perfect. To reiterate. Do NOT run it out of water, with the flush port. That’s to clear any sediment, not cool the motor.
Yes it does, unless you are running in temps at or below 32°. We ran the oil through the winter and spring and changed it with the appropriate 25w-40 in mid spring.
Easy to do and saves $100
I've got the same motor, why didn't you use the flush line on the port side of the motor vs water muff?

@@OnAnotherLine Thanks! I'm doing my first oil change this weekend and i don't have water muffs.
the owners manual says to turn off the motor when using that port flush. do not run without muffs.

Doesnt this engine take 25W40 ?
