This movie is mad, there's like seven or eight memorable lines in any given 3 minute scene. And they only get better with time too. Just like the original story, the music and the books that came from it
Two big roles for Serkis at the time: Martin Hannett and Gollum. In one movie, he played an anti-social goblin who terrified everyone who came into contact with him. The other one was Lord of the Rings.
They should make a new film in this style chronicling the rise of the 2000s garage rock revival in NY and how it spread to the UK. Bands like the Strokes, White Stripes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Libertines, Franz Ferdinand, Interpol, LCD Soundsystem, Bloc Party, the Killers.
That moment was actually a death knell for typical punk rock drumming - and for that everyone should be grateful. Post Punk is far more interesting and creative than classic punk. Not hating on punk - it’s just by that time punk rock was a cartoon cliche and had to evolve. This was the evolution.
"You wear it very well" is the line I remember most from this movie full of great lines

Andy Serkis was amazing in this.
His drumming actually improved a lot after he was told to do it faster but slower.
The Andy Serkis record producer was my favourite character in this film.
The “Andy Serkis record producer” is meant to be portraying Martin Hannett. One of the greatest music producers of all time.

@@GiacomoJimmi LOL
@@GiacomoJimmi you'll have no idea what I'm on about now but, great comment 😂
@@lawlini1979 I had no idea you were on about anything. But thanks for the big up. 😃
I laughed when they were listening the tape in the care and in the background the drummer still drumming while everyone leaves😂😂
I know it wasn't funny in real life, but it's a goddamn laugh riot now.
I'm amazed that anyone got away with talking like that to Peter Hook 😃
You wear it very well.
Now play it like a f'ing musician!
Classic... "Faster but Slower"
This is how a musical biopic should be. Lots of boring but hilarious moments.
Recording is so boring except for the musicians and technical team. Guests are usually boredAF
Dammit... now I gotta' watch the whole movie again.
Just remember it’s Tony Wilson’s money 😂
I’m recording... silence.
@@stui0ham you’re recording silence?
@@adampratt5785 No, i'm recording Tony fooking Wilson
1:21 a little cough medicine to take the edge off.
Lol I thought it was a Red Stripe at first.
for all those sick riffs
That cough stuff must have been Benelin original. Imagine the verbals from Martin if you'd gave tried to palm him off with non drowsy? 🤣🤣🤣👋👋👋👋👋
It's Methadone.
LMAO, Martin is right though, and I understand exactly what he means when he says the drumming must be "simpler" and "faster but slower."
Alan Partridge, Gollum and The Master are in 24 Hour Party People
This is the musical equivalent of the meme "yes... But actually, no."
Brilliant 😊❤🇬🇧👍
Martin Hannett is the name of the real producer
Genuis of a producer.
Rebuild it on the roof 😄
Too funny!
Golum as Martin Hannett

😆 🤔 hmm similar to - Meet Me In The Bathroom.
Yeah but this film was more about Tony Wilson himself rather than the bands. He was the link between them all.
i reckon i’ll see a james murphy biopic in my lifetime
They are not worthy.
Let's call it Factory. You know factory closing, factory opening. Reversing the trend. It's very Andy Warhol. It's a bit L.S. Lowry.
Faster but slower.
LOUIE LOUIE
What has also been around for 20,000 years are heavy smoking and drinking English guys with hoarse voices swearing and calling themselves geniuses
Except that Martin Hannett was a genius.
