Not going for the record seems like a waste. Even though it's an individual stat it's still a team accomplishment. Resting players doesn't guarantee you will win the next game. There was an opportunity to have an all time record. That is a huge deal. Nobody remembers who even won a Superbowl in a given year. People remember records like that forever. The only reason to not go for it is if he was hurt.
That’s what he gets for being soft. He should have said he wanted to get it and not let leave it in Siriannis hands. Neither one of them wants the blame if Saquon gets hurt; if he does then not only is sirianni guaranteed to lose his job, but they will also miss out on the chance of a Super Bowl. It’s an easier blow to not let him play week 18. For both of them because if Saquon gets hurts and he publicly says he wants the record he’s going to be ripped for being selfish and hurting the teams chances at a Super Bowl. So if he was going to do it then he and the entire team should have spoke up for him, but nobody can handle that heat.

He didn't want it badly enough or he was trying to be too politically correct and act like he didn't care. He should have told coach he wanted it. Get an extra 10-20 yards 2 games ago. Get an extra 10-20 yards last game. And get the remaining 60-80 yards this game. 100% on Saquon.
So the coach asked him what he wanted to do (basically leaving it up to him.) and he's upset? ofc if it's up to the coach and the player doesn't seem to care about setting the record he's gonna sit him.
How is it trolling? Injuries are so frequent in the NFL and it's pretty standard that players rest where possible to avoid any regrettable injury going into the postseason. Smart move by coach, and I'm sure Saquon's good judgment would agree with the decision.
Personally, I think they should have left the decision up to Saquon and the O-line. It’s their achievement even if only Saquons name gets put in the record books. If anything, Sirianni could have played them for a half to see if they get it.

It's a 16 game record and hes 101 yards short after 16 games... AND, after 16 games he's only 2 yards ahead of OJ's 14 game record. THIS ISN'T A REAL RECORD!!!!!!!
As. Jeaty (Boise St.) would've been even worse breaking Barry Sanders' record, thankfully he came up 27 yards short while playing multiple extra games 14-11! This record is gonna be broken soon anyways. The extra game is massive. We all know it’s gonna be 18 games soon. Dickerson’s record will never last with 2 extra games. Peterson was 9 yards short in a 16 game season. Trust me multiple guys are gonna break it with 18 games.
Andy Reid always lets his players play if they are going after a big incentive or record, and sometimes the player (Travis Kelce last season) decides it's not worth it. The Eagles are facing the Giants, for goodness sake. Let him play if he wants to.
I think it’s BS if they make him sit and not let them at least try to beat that record..!
Ask any player in his position if it’s important to break this record, they would ALL say yes, go for it. It’s huge! There is no next year!
The Giants are terrible, Barkley could get 101 yards in three plays. I totally get why Sirianni would want to rest him though, to get to a superbowl the Eagles are going to have to go through Detroit and/or Minnesota and they need Barkley healthy to do that.

Now they can lose the record and the SB!
I think having 2k rush yds twice will be more unbreakable than beating Dickerson record. With this line, I think he can do it again and cement his name forever.
If they dont win the SB, this will crush him. Let him go for the record, if hes not even close by the end of the 3rd quarter then sit him.
It’s a Selfish decision by the Eagles not to let Saquon go for the Record.
2,000 yards doesn't get you in HOF and if he walked today even with breaking Dickerson's record doesn't make him HOF. Obviously needs more years, but on his way.
